  1. Hey, I resemble that remark!!! I really don't recall, but I think I was on the bottom, because when it broke off, I was thrown low. Maybe I was the lead weight in that tube... Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! Cool! bellyflier on the dz.com hybrid record jump

  3. Dude, I can totally relate to the speed thing. I was practicing my sit over the weekend at the Byron Boogie, and my top speeds in both sit dives were 202 and 196 respectively. I was in a long sleeve shirt and short, though, so I was like a greased pig. I am saving up for a good FF suit now, just to slow my fat ass down. - Matt Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! 4. I was out at Byron this afternoon. It was pretty cool seeing the boogie getting started. They just had the skyvan running and some of the afternoon loads were NOT full. I think the sunset load was full, but the earlier ones had room. Looks like it is going to be a blast out there. I really think Sebazz better show up or else....he SUCKS!! See you guys out there on Sunday!! Deuce says we are going to try and put together a greased safe and I am shooting for a few hybrids. Have a good weekend everyone. And BE SAFE!!! Anyone hear from Jams or TOM ?? I am not sure if he was going to make it out there this weekend. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! 6. Here is Bay Area Skydiving, in Byron, California. It looks really ugly in the summer with brown everywhere, but looks rad in the winter/spring when the grass is green everywhere as you can see from my tandem picture. Oh, did I tell you that the Byron Boogie starts TOMORROW !?!? BTW - Mapquest gives better AND more updated pictures than Terraserver. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! 13. Hi !! My name is Matt and I am an IT professional, although for the past 5 months I have been living off my life savings while looking for work. Take pity on me and send large amounts of cash to help fund my job search. In return, I will be your friend and bum skydive tickets off you. You will not regret such a fine investment. 18. Can be ... yes, it can be - but it is not recommended. At least according to their web site and the sizing chart. Am I looking in the wrong place where it says 2:1 on a PD150 is ok ? http://www.performancedesigns.com/ninecell.htm Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! 19. ^bump^ Lummy (Sunday and probably late afternoon Sat) Deuce (Friday and Sunday) Sebazz Cornholio (Sunday) JJohnson MORE MORE MORE MORE !! I find it quite odd, that the most advertising for this boogie is done word of mouth and on dz.com. I mean I have not even seen a flyer for this thing posted anywhere. I wonder why Mike doesn't update his web page or maybe spread the word another way. It's not even listed on the event calendar on dz.com... wassup with dat ? Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! 20. You are correct, except for one difference... I was re-reading all the posts and the landing pattern, "the 'U'" is the same, however, the technique is a bit different. I can understand Paul's statement about the glide ratio being the same, but the distance vs speed vs altitude is a factor. However let me explain this a bit further by an example... If I start flying downwind in my U pattern at 1000' at entry point I will reach point A at 500' and point B' at 300' and land at C. However, if I am flying a faster, more ground hungry canopy, I start my landing pattern at 1000' at the same entry point as before, then I will arrive at point A at 400', point B at 200', and land 100' short of point C. So to fix this problem, either shorten the legs or start the landing pattern higher. Am I the only one that notices this ? Maybe my experience was that the glide ratio was not the same between the two canopies I have flown. I think the PD210 had less vertical speed, so it appeared that the glide ratio was different. Anyhow, my point was just my own experience. From jumping a PD210 and overshooting the landing, and then a Spectre190 that usually comes up short. Both of these observations were from a typical 0-wind day. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! Cool! bellyflier on the dz.com hybrid record jump
  21. and Sounds to me you just answered Micheles question and you also contradicted yourself. For me, I did have to alter my landing pattern. I went from a PD210 to a Spectre190. I noticed right away that the vertical descent and forward speed was greater than the PD210. I've got about 40 jumps on the Spectre and I still sometimes have problems judging my landing pattern. Lummy can attest to this when he followed me in one time at Perris and I landed quite a ways away (short) from my intended landing spot. I told him that I was afraid of running over the runway or edge of the grass. I said "next time I'm aiming for the edge of the grass" and I landed right in the middle. The landing technique itself is about the same - you are correct. However the landing PATTERN sequence is a bit different. You should start a bit higher and maybe increase those legs of the landing pattern since you are now starting to descend a lot faster than the relative speed moving forward. Butthead: Whoa! 23. My first canopy off student status was a PD-210. It had about 200 jumps on it and was a few years old. The guy I bought it from said that it ws a good canopy and no problems for him. My rigger inspected it and said it looked excellent for only having 200 jumps on it. Anyhow - my personal experience on that canopy was not pleasant. I put about 30 jumps on it and I think I stood up 3 of those jumps. The best flare I got out of that sucker was a downwind landing !! Regardless, the problem was not just me, but also because of my wing loading. I was overloading the canopy with a 1.1:1 ratio. I spoke to a couple JMs at my DZ and told them to watch me land and to give advice. Both of the JMs said my landing technique was good enough to land, but that I was still sinking that sucker in every time and I would end up doing a butt slide. Bottom line is this... don't overload a F-111 canopy more than 1.0 to 1 wing loading. PD especially recommends not to go over 1:1 loading on their F111 canopies. I'm not sure about other vendors. I am now flying a Spectre 190 and I had to relearn my flaring techniqe because I was trying to compensate for my shotty job on the PD210 and the overloading. - corn Butthead: Whoa! 25. Yup, I've been playing the demo for the past few days. It is pretty cool. I have a fast pc and geforce3, but the net play needs a little improving. It's not as bad as when Q3 came out, but not as near as smooth as UT or Q2 or HL. Everyone understand those acronyms, right ? Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah!
