Inside the riser, where the soft link is joined with it's larks head, you wouldn't want the brake line snagging that knot as it pulls through when releasing the brake. A rapide link will not be affected. Wrong answer.....wear on the soft link. he soft link tab is tacked down. I get a few reserves a year that don't have the soft links tacked down... It's pretty rare to even see it on a main. (yes, I tack them) "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Isopropanol, 2-Butoxyethanol, Ethylene glycol n-hexyl ether, water, fragrance and blue dye, ~ the older stuff has amonia. That sounds like solvents, isn't that rough on nylon? I've heard several experienced riggers say they would/do use windex to clean a rig. Have hooded sweatshirts ever caused a malfunction or incident?
theonlyski replied to cocheese's topic in Safety and Training
So a non hooded sweatshirt will actually slow me down better than a hooded one? I think the point was it'll slow you down AS WELL as the hooded version without the added risk? That's not what he said. Also, there has been no determination of there being added risk either. I'm not saying there isn't. I'm saying that it hasn't been determined yet. For what it's worth, there is a program that will put the start button UI back, will do conventional, XP or Vista/7 styles. Works fine so far. Well, I've lost Virtual PC and the new Hyper-V isn't supporting my processor. Other than that, very fast booting (running from SSD) and everything does seem to feel a bit quicker so far. Not much of a fan of the new UI though. The girlfriend and I were watching a recorded episode of Tosh.O last night and I noticed something odd, a quick rewind and frame by frame later, and it was some sort of picture of skin (with hair) and some other objects on them. A brief google showed that it's been on several episodes (different parts of the body) Anyone else notice these? Are they even legal? Lets face it, even if it was a USPA-GMDZ... What could they do? Tell him to stop, terminate his GM? That wouldn't even get ME to shake in my boots. I just hope the FAA sees that the rest of the industry isn't well represented by that operation and reacts accordingly. Administrative rigging question / FAA oriented

My pilot certificate and my rigger certificate have the same number also. Interesting. Did you also convert your paper certs when you had both to the plastic? Are they on the same card? I believe you are correct, it is a different certificate number so it is separate. If you move and get replacement certificates the date will reflect that issuance of all certificates. Sucks! I've had my riggers ticket and A&P since 1976 but the record says 2007 when I changed addresses. jon I'm sure anyone that is that concerned with it can contact their FSDO to get a copy of the initial dates for any certificate. But there are only 4 type ratings in the US. One could get an add on every year for 4 years, then (provided they meet the requirements) get a Master rating and have no way to update their ratings anymore (short of becoming a DPRE). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ63wIytgQY&feature=plcp Granted it's time lapsed and a tandem rig, but basically this. I've come down a couple times in the plane intentionally. Rode it once just for shits and grins, once because our radio went out (pilot on short final nudges me and says "I'll try to make this one a soft landing", once because the plane lost all electrical systems (including flaps as I realized we were coming in hot and remembered they were electric too). Once or twice because we forgot a vidiot on the ground too.
