  6. Dude!!! Buy a fricken gear bag! I drive a ZX11 (see my avatar) and I have soft saddle bags (Givi - $200). The soft bags are great for touring and make a nice platform to strap a gear bag onto. Then, find a way to keep the whole thing right side up???   12. If you have multiple instructors talking down multiple students, there is a chance the instructors will block each other's transmissions. The best way would be to have separate frequencies for each instructor/student pair, but that's pretty sophisticated. Not complicated, 4 radios, 2 on one freq, 2 on another. Most radios these days have the option of a dozen different freqs and even some have sub channels in them. When gearing a student up, you do a radio check to make sure you got the right one. Drivers are highly distracted in their vehicles, all the information at our fingertips, constant connection and large music libraries to go...I'd say more, but I'm typing this out on my Droid while riding my motorcycle and rock'n my iPod...   20. Think about this, would you want just anyone off the streets announce themselves as a police officer, FBI or DEA agent? I've worked hard to earn my medals, I already get pissed off when people who do little more than the bare minimum get a BSM or ARCOM just because of their rank, not their work... But to have someone LIE about having one? If they're mentally unstable, then they should be required to undergo treatment for the wellbeing of the rest of the society. If they're not, they should be punished for stealing (and eventually done enough, degrading) the honor that these men and women have fought and died for.   24. There is probably a good gym in your town if you are too weak to properly control your parachute. Student rigs don't have any loops so it's just hold on and pull up and hold. Easy to do but to hold for 5/10 min wooh what a work out. My rig doesn't have loops on the rear risers... come to think of it, none of the ones Ive jumped have had them either. Now, loops on the front risers... got those!   25. I agree with you. I wasn't trying to say that we need to start jumping over barron land with a no fly zone around us. I believe that proper training on everyones part will go very far in keeping us safe. Some things like: - Briefing pilots who will also be using the airport about jump operations (I know its filed in the NOTAM, but it wouldn't hurt) - The landing pattern expected by jumpers - The pattern expected by the jump aircraft - Letting the jumpers know that there is another aircraft expected in the area (its alot easier to spot something if you know there is something there to spot) - Having the pilots explain to the jumpers the pattern for take off/landing at that airport. (ie pattern entry for an approaching aircraft will be at approx this location, at approx this elevation, left/right hand pattern.) Maybe even once jumpers are away, keep any other a/c from taking off until all jumpers are in a safe pattern. Sure, half of that is a bit redundant, but you just do it when the jumper comes and gets his dz brief (or the pilot comesand takes a look around the airport), and every safety day.
