This is why your cutaway cables are different length, so the 'NON-RSL' side is disconnected first. Could it lock up? Sure, but this is why you do the monthly maintenance and flex them. (You ARE doing the monthly maintenance, right? ) Yup, kid at spaceland was a lucky motherfucker when he landed in the swoop pond with a trailing main and reserve out. Cause was the RSL shackle locked in the three rings. It's a pretty easy fix, and should've been caught in a gear check, but we're all human. RSL's are around because they've helped more people than they've hurt. There are ups and downs to every piece of gear you have, its an informed decision and once you're licensed, much of it is up to you. It's not so much about defined angles, as it is a dynamic sight picture, one that takes a little while to get dialed in. True, I've got far better things to do with my time than try to hunt down someone to do some rigging work for. Ya know, like sleep, eat, walk around, stare at walls... I'm ~45 mins south of Orlando, and really an assemble, inspect and pack isn't worth my time to drive up there. Though, I'm curious why the OP is looking for an "independent" rigger...
