  1. Never thought of that. So that's why I see kids with re-wrapped Pop-Tarts in plastic wrap. Ooooooh... these kids now days. They're really tricky. Chuck
  2. Soon, kids will need a CPTL (Concealed Pop-Tart License). This whole thing is over reacting gone nuts. Whatever happened to common sense? It's fear gone wild! Chuck
  3. It was the sprinkles. Those things can be deadly. If that thing went off, he coulda' lost a molar! Chuck
  4. Obviously, no one told him he could put his eye out with that thing!!! Chuck
  5. The call only added a few more minutes to the game but the Blackhawks shrugged it off and won in spite of that call. I thought it was a great series and I'm going to miss seeing the Wings - Blackhawks rivalry. Over 800 meetings in all the years of the NHL. The Blackhawks saw a little set-back in the series with the Wings but came-back and showed their stuff. Excellent series. The Blackhawks are an excellent team. Gritty and they juts don't quit. Cudos to them. Chuck
  6. Blackhawks - Kings Blackhawks in 5! The Blackhawks have a lot of depth, very physical, goal scorers and they are the kind of team that gets under their opponent's skin and they draw penalties. Chuck
  7. Looked to me like the ref wanted to stop it before it got out of hand. I think too, that call will be barroom fodder for some time. Chuck
  8. What do you think of the 'no goal' call on Chicago in the 3rd. period, last night? The way I see it, the ref was watching the 'action' along the boards in front of the Wings' bench. He blew the whistle to stop the fight at the same time the goal was made. Thus, nullifying the goal. I thought it was a good call. Not because I'm a Wings fan but because I would feel the same way if it was called on the Wings. Chuck
  9. Game 7... Wings and Blackhawks... anybody's guess who'll come-out on top. Sheeeeesh! Chuck
  10. Chuck, I didn't mean to give the impression that I was offended (or that I speak for anyone other than myself), sorry if I did. I've just noticed over my short years (especially since Memorial Day has become deeply personal over the past twelve years) that few have the time to reflect on the deeper reasoning behind this solemn day. I would humbly propose that the most effective way to honor fallen soldiers is simply to exercise those freedoms that were part of the original real-estate deal; perhaps taking a moment to spread the knowledge that to enjoy whatever activity we're enjoying, it may have been necessary for people to die. Personally, this Memorial Day reminded me that I can't just be a passenger, that I must take time out of my busy schedule to hold my representatives accountable for their decisions (or at least attempt to influence their future decision making process), because these decisions have more than abstract consequences. -Nick http://articles.washingtonpost.com/2013-05-24/opinions/39502742_1_soldiers-civil-war-junger I feel, you were expressing your thoughts and I can appreciate that. I try to keep an open mind. I grew-up with a father who served in the Navy during WW-II as well as uncles in all branches of the service. I believe, that instilled in me a real respect for our service men and women. Sadly. our service men and women have been drug through political ugliness for too long. Chuck
  11. No, please don't. I can't count how many people I had to stop mid-stream and politely describe the difference between Veteran's Day and Memorial Day. It's easy to become cynical (because being thanked for this particular job is a profoundly uncomfortable thing), and I'm trying really hard not to, because it's not your fault :) I drove my family down to Arlington to pay respects to a handful of close friends and a large "extended family"; Section 60 has grown immensely since the last time I was able to visit. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/27/opinion/americans-and-their-military-drifting-apart.html?hp I thought it was a good idea at the time but you've opened my eyes a bit. A real good friend of mine is a graduate of West Point. He's served in Iraq and Afghanistan and is now in Alaska. He thought it was a good gesture. I'll be a bit more careful in the future. I don't want to offend our troops by any means. I just wanted to let them know I appreciate what they've done. Thanks for setting me straight. Chuck
  12. For years, I read where Red Wings fans wanted to get rid of the older players and get younger players. The Wings had a good streak with the older players. Now, they have younger players and the kids are letting their opponents get under their skin. They're getting penalties and giving Chicago a big advantage. One thing about it... the young players are gaining experience. Chuck
  13. Junior-B! They've let the Blackhawks get under their skin the last two games. The young guys are falling for it and warming the bench in the sin bin. Sloppy passes and flat-out give-aways didn't help them. For cryin' out loud... this is the play-offs! The Wings aren't stepping-up. I don't look for the Wings to get past game seven. the Blackhawks will be on home ice and the decibel level of the crowd will be deafning and the Wings better have their greens fees paid up! They blew a two game lead and gift wrapped the series for Chicago. Maybe next year. Chuck
  14. 'Throw-away soldiers'! Looks to me like some way the government has to save money. You talk about cold blooded!! The one soldier mentioned that he was 'basically homeless'. I'll bet that no one knows just how many soldiers live under over-passes, back alleys and doorways. Chuck
  15. Good post! I have friends who fought in Nam and are still, suffering the consequences. Mostly PTSD and have had some bad experiences with 'the system', all these years. That's a horrible way to treat our service men and women. It's good to remember those who have given their lives to keep us free and spoiled but we need to take care of those with us. You're right! I need to write a letter. Chuck
  16. ...and take the time to thank a service man or woman. Chuck
  17. Not to mention their bias against the Wings. Pierre tried (years ago) to play for the Wings but was passed over. I'm thinking, the little dork holds a grudge. I notice too, the NBC announcers seem to purposely mis-pronounce certain Wings players names. I've heard Pierre pronounce 'Kronwall' as 'Kornball'. Their team favorite is apparently the Penguins. I've been watching the Wings-Blackhawks series but with the volume muted. I really wish the guys announcing the series were Mickey Redmond and co. or anyone else besides those NBC dufuses. We're stuck with them, thanks to that little troll Bettman. Chuck
  18. Patrick Roy is going to be the new coach for the Avalanche! He's been coaching a minor league team in Canada. That should be real interesting. Today is going to mean whether the Wings finish-off the Blackhawks or they go to game 6. The Kings better watch-out... the Wings are on a roll! I hate that NBC is running the schedule of play-off games. That should be under the control of the League but Bettman wanted the coverage by NBC so now, a t.v. network in running things. Chuck
  19. She's probably the most self-centered, self-indulgent, narcissistic person I've ever seen... and she talks too much. Chuck
  20. How 'bout them Wings?? Looks like they might be on a roll. They Blanked 'em. Jimmy was fantastic in net, in spite of the 'snow showers and crashing the net. Johnathan Toews just lost it! Three penalties in a row? What I didn't like was when he, the ref and Zetterberg were talking, Toews rapped Zets a good one across the shins with the blade of his stick. The ref never blinked... just a cheap shot. Cleary's empty netter with just a couple minutes left in the third, cinched the deal for the Wings. Tomorrow night will tell the tale when they hit Chicago's ice. GO WINGS!! Chuck
  21. At this point in time, it's anybody's series. I just hope the Wings hold up the momentum. I have seen the Wings go through the same thing Chicago is going through... Win Division, win Conference and get knocked-out in the first or second round. The odds makers are goin' nuts. Chuck
  22. Heard 'round the world! I didn't give the Wings a lot of hope against Chicago. They lost in all four regular season meetings this past season. Then too, the Wings had 7 or more players out, most of the season. Their young players are stepping-up and Jimmy Howard is a brick wall. The bottom line is, it ain't over till it's over. Chuck
