I do the same thing! I can't stand listening to those biased clowns. I'll check-out the Weather Channel or Discovery during intermissions. Yup! He said Modano asked for #9! That announcer has to be on crack! Modano is from the Detroit area and knows all about the #9. That's what I mean... those guys are idiots. Did you hear the announcer pronounce Kronwall... 'Cornball'? In fact, I don't think he pronounced any Detroit player's name the same way twice. Where's Mickey when you need him? All in all, it was a good game. Kept me on the edge of the couch! It's sad that defending oneself can be punished. My son experienced a similar thing when he was in Jr. high. He was in 7th. grade at the time and there was an older kid (the kid had failed twice and was held-back) in his gym class who was continually bullying my son. Well, the day came the older kid went too far and my son, who was smaller, wheeled around and landed his fist squarely on the bully's nose... breaking and bloodying it. The older kid was expelled and my son got a Saturday detention for fighting. Those are the school rules. No exceptions. The principal did tell me (off to the side) she was proud of my son for standing-up for himself. Chuck

Some may feel they can just change the concept of a word merely by saying it is changed, but it isn't that simple. Marriage has described a union between a man and a woman for a very long time. Maybe someday it will not distinguish between male-female unions and male-male or female-female but, for the majority of the population, not today. If two people want to become partners for life and form a legally binding union to enjoy the benefits of such, have at it. No skin off my back. That is, until they use the term marriage to describe a same sex union. My previous post explained how i feel and why. If somebody takes insult to that or can't understand and respect that opinion...fuck 'em. because when somebody insults my beliefs it IS my business. Insulting your beliefs? WTF - get over yourself. It's non of your damned business WHAT they call their relationship. I agree with you. As far as I'm concerned, they can do what they want. Who are they hurting? I know, I grew-up during a time when we were told how wrong it is and all that but times have changed. If anything, it seems to be 'the thing to be'. I've got my beliefs... they have theirs. They aren't criminals or two headed dragons. Where I live, there are several same-sex couples. Some of them are on the Volunteer Fire Dept. and do a lot of work around here (for free) out of their sense of community and concern for where they live. I've gotten to know a few of them and they're good folks. What they do in their own home is their business. They're a lot better than a lot of straight folks I know. Chuck

Those protesters need something better to do! I wonder how they would feel if, the shoe was on the other foot? I know, they have their 'right to freedom of speech' but they need to learn... it's not all about them. Will Rogers said; "Never pass the chance to shut-up!". Those protesters need to learn that. One of our regulars at the DZ several years ago, told me that his Grand-dad gave him a lifetime membership to the Klan the day he was born. I didn't persue the topic. Chuck

Before I say anything else, I want to thank you for your service to our country and protecting our freedoms. Very informative post. I guess, I have 'hold-over' fears of the Klan from when I was a kid. I'd sometimes spend week-ends at my grandparents place during the summer months. I was 5, maybe 6-yrs old. They lived across from a large pasture where the Klan would hold their meetings and burn crosses. One very fearful time, a house that a young black couple, with a baby, was in the process of moving into, was burned to the ground. Of course, there were no witnesses. We knew, what they were capable of. The Klan has undergone changes over the years to even 'hopefully' improve their image. Too many folks have good memories. Our neighbors and good-good friends have a son who is a Lt. Col. and has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, has told me similar to what you have. Right now, he's State-side but is fixin' to go back to Afghanistan. Thanks, again! Chuck

I wouldn't worry too much about your credibility. Personally, I think a bad christian who evaluates himself and criticizes his own faults is more credible than a good christian who is constantly condemning others. ...OR constantly telling you how 'they' are Christians! Chuck

I landed on the Washington State Patrol's high-speed driving training course and had to be retrieved by a couple state troopers. No one was training that day so the whole facility was completely locked down. They only drove me as far as the exit to the state property where a truck from the DZ was waiting for me. Once they confirmed I didn't need any medical attention we had some good laughs about whether I should be arrested for trespassing. Good Lord! That could've been real ugly, had the place been 'open for business'! The really good part is, you were O.K. and able to laugh about it. Chuck

As a result of a very bad spot, I got a ride with a Texas DPS officer! Sure raised some eyebrows among some back at the DZ! Chuck

Kids peeing is how the other 28% of the carts get the fecal matter washed off. "Kiddie pee... bringing you a cleaner, fresher grocery cart." It states on the label of pinto beans... "Wash thoroughly before cooking!" The kid was just trying to help. Chuck

What you have to be careful of is... the pinto beans! At one time, I hauled groceries to grocery stores. At one of my stops, that store had a large wooden barrel full of pinto beans, for bulk sale. At the time, I was helping the grocer check-in his order. The grocer looked behind me to see a little kid peeing in the barrel full of pinto beans. The result of the story was, the kid's mother had to buy that barrel along with over a hundred pounds of beans... at the selling price! Chuck
