Best Work Boots - Need advice from people who work in boots.
masterrig replied to DJL's topic in The Bonfire
I would suggest going to a good, reputable store that handles high quality work boots. Take the time and try them on till you find one that is comfortable and meets your specifications. Be prepared to pay a bit more than you would probably care to. Then, put-in some Dr. scholls 'Gel-soles'. Don't scrimp on your feet! Bad shoes or boots can lead to foot, leg and back problems and also can make you miserable in general. Chuck -

Even those little bundles of joy BORN in this country to illegal aliens don't count? Odd... Texas and other states are counting them. Chuck -

I disagree with that! We are a developed country, according to you and you say our population is not growing. The figures came out yesterday that Hispanic, school age children, now makes-up 52% here in Texas. That includes pre-school. That's just Texas. There's 49 other states to account for. Chuck -
To think... my folks got tired of hearing 'cool'! Chuck

And therein lies the whole problem, IMO. Population growth will stress resources it to the limit and beyond. We're seeing it happen, and have been for years, and it's only going to get worse. We lose thousands of acres of farm and ranchlands per day to urban sprawl. How would you like your 'Soylent Green', Sir? Baked, broiled or fried? Chuck -
Is 'EPIC' the new 'AWESOME'? I've never heard a word over-used as much as AWESOME! Everything is NOT awesome! Chuck Yeah basically 'awesome'.... but as someone said earlier, it's kinda like the new 'EXTREME'. Chuck

Not gonna happen! The die has been cast and we've just gotten spoiled and 'all about me'! Also, trying to control 'primal urges' would be a task in itself. We'll just sit-back and wait till it happens then, go into panic mode like we usually do. -

I'm not against 'capitalism' per se. As long as they consider all sides and long term effects. Then too, we are not really known for long-term. We're more into 'get rich quick' and not considering the long-term Also, our population is growing at a rapid rate and we're feeling the strain. Chuck Some believe the population isn't a problem. http://overpopulationisamyth.com/overpopulation-the-making-of-a-myth Some people live in a 'bubble', too. Chuck -

Yup! Here in far-west Texas, we don't have 'ski-ponds' or swimming pools. We do have stock tanks so cattle and horses can get a drink now and then. I've been to Calexico and El Centro and they've done a pretty good job. I'm referring to the swimming pools that abound in Houston, Dallas, Amarillo and elsewhere and just how often are those pools used? East of here, they want to build a coal fired energy plant. There's a pretty well-known rancher who wants to sell water for that plant because he claims he has an 'abundance' of the stuff. His water sypply comes from sources in the area where I live. Also, the town near his ranch will dry-up. In the spring and summer, when he irragates his alfalfa, that towwn's water pressure drops to 0! Those stock tanks I mentioned are drying up. We haven't had a drop of moisture in over 6-months. I guess, the point I'm trying to make is... we are wasteful and take too much for granted. Chuck -

That's another subject... water! I don't know about y'all in The British Isles but here, we waste water like we waste everything else. Folks in the big cities have pretty much used-up their water supply and now, they want our water here in the rural areas. They have to have water to fill their swimming pools and hot-tubs, wash their BMW every other day, let the water from their yard sprinklers run down the gutters and want those of us in the rural areas to pick-up their slack! We're still, trying to get out of a 13+ yr. drought! They get mad when their city councilfolks tell them they need to cut-back on their water useage! Chuck -

Yup! That's just one of many reasons they run for office. To enlighten and guide us because they have superior powers and intelligence. They jumped on the 'green band wagon', not because they are so concerned with the environment and Bambi, Yogi and Boo-boo but because there's money in it! Hell! If it's good enough for Al Gore... it's good enough for them! Chuck -

Another side to this is... noone told consumers to periodically wash the 'environmentally safe' grocery sacks so as to prevent salmonella, mold or mildew. DUH! As for those compact flourescent bulbs... just a gimmick by General Electric to make a fortune from the 'global warming' 'environmental' craze. Seems like people nowadays have to be told everything by some 'group'. Is there no such thing as common sense, any more? Chuck -
I don't think age has much to do with it. My first wife was 24 when she tried to stab me several times in my sleep... just because I stayed at the beer joint a little later than I said. Chuck

Not a good time of year to be without 'big' players. Especially, as close as things are in the West. Cooke has a long history of things like this. Guys like him need to know... there's no room for goons in the 'new' NHL. If, he continues his actions after he comes back, he'll be banned from the League. Chuck

#1! Too bad the Wings didn't have Dats and Huds... might've been a different out-come. Heckuva come-back for the Wings, though. At least, the Wings got a point. Chuck

We're probably looking at some sort of conflict with N. Korea and Iran, also. How thin are we going to spread ourselves? Chuck

I was so tickled to see Detroit beat Washington! All those dumb-assed announcers could talk about was Ovechkin's one and only goal. That was a good game! McDonald is doing great in net tonight... and getting lots of help. Maybe, that win last night lit a fire under the Wings. I hope so. Go Wings!!! Chuck
