I have offered to flash a female pilot to get extra alititude..(strangely she said that would cause the plane to dive). I have "planned" business trips that took me extremely close to DZ'S....and missed flights forcing me to spend weekends in places instead of comping back. Most things I buy are broken into how many jumps I have to give up to buy them....and then determined if they are truly required items. I have not needed to pawn anything yet...but this year could be a tight one. JJ "Call me Darth Balls" -

Just my amateur opinion but isn't putting wax on string basically making a candle...and then applying heat in the form of friction to it be running a slider down the lines? I would think the wax would help cause link shrinkage....anyone with a chemical engineering and physics degree got a real idea? JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

How often do you get scared skydiving?

Fear is defined in one dictionary as a feeling of agitation, anxiety caused by presence or immenence of danger, a feeling of disquiet or apprehension, reverence or awe. So at no time during a "routine" skydive do you feel these things? At no time during a "normal" skydive do you go through all possible scenarios and feel anything about them? I don't care how many times I do this, I don't want to lose the "fear" that keeps me on my toes. I don't want to forget that even on my 10,000th jump that there is a very real presence of danger. That normal and problem are seperated only by the blink of an eye in our sport. With all due respect to your experience and jump numbers and expertise. Peace. JJ "Call me Darth Balls" -

The operative word here is fear, which is a normal God given emotion...which tells us to proceed with caution cause we are dealing with things that could do us damage..... Bearing that in mind I fear every skydive....and that makes me respect it and treat it like it could do me harm... Anyone who claims to not feel any fear at some point in every skydive is either brain dead or lying. Every time I throw that pilot chute the little fear creeps up that this time a mal is coming. Everytime I go out the door the fear that this time I get hit on exit and get knocked out....you get the picture...and you can color it anyway you want, but once you lose the fear of what we do, you have become complacent. And that will kill you. Please do not confuse this with allowing the fear to paralyze and cripple you.....thats not my meaning. JJ "Call me Darth Balls" -
