Well lets be real, you could wring more performance out of a canopy asleep then I could anytime this decade. I wasn't saying that it couldn't be done, only that it was easier with some more speed. My Tri just felt that it had no real flare on a no wind day. The flare felt flat, it didn't plane out much and didn't stop the forward speed much. Lots of running involved. At the time an instructor suggested giving a little double fronts to build up some speed. Course he was a notorious hook turner....But the added speed did make the landings more enjoyable. I also don't agree that "touching" the front risers before "mastering" everything else is some great evil either. Thats like saying until he can wring all the glide from toggles and pulling his legs up he shouldn't ever touch the rear risers. I am curious if the Tri's you were jumping, or Airdvr has now is the newer one with the new steering line configuration for increased flare power? After being invlved in a bullshit lawsuit for the last 9 months....allow me to amend what you said: 1) The defense attorney tries to figure out where to stick the blame...to get his client cleared. 2) The counsel for the plaintiff don't care where anything sticks so long as it sticks. After looking at some cases going on while I sitting in court it has really driven home just how much of a sue happy society we have become. It is sickening really. Judges are afraid of making rulings for fear of it being overturned by a higher court. Lawyers warping every good intent of a law, millions of dollars wasted and nothing getting accomplished. I'm sure there is a perfect flare for his situation....but my experience with a Tri was as I said. No wind = rough landings, no flare power. Add a little speed and suddenly we had enough to finish off the landing. Don't think I didn't try finding that sweet spot either. Going to the Silhouette next changed a lot.....better flare, glide ratio...suddenly no wind days were not so bad. So I'm not advocating high performance landings, but I won't be suprised if he has a hard time finding that perfect landing on a no wind day. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

I think it is for two reasons: 1) FF is awesome to watch. From the first time I watched Antigravity I have wanted to fly like that. It is visually more captivating than RW and looks more fun....more free. 2) RW at many DZ's can be very clickish. The skygod mentality ruins the feeling of the sport. Screw up a jump and get banned? Like anyone is born with 2000 jumps? No thanks. I despise that attitude and will never turn away a low time jumper unless it is a saftey issue. I had pretty much wriiten RW off until I finally met some RW load organizers that made it fun, not a competition on every jump. I enjoy both RW and FF, but I don't suffer attitudes, have no tolerance for them. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

You would be very suprised at the shit that goes on in a school board and the control that administration has over them. My mother has worked at a grade school for the last 25 years. Yes the prinicpal or superintendent can and do get voted out. But by and large most of the school board becomes a local popularity contest. They have had prinicipals talking certain friendly people onto the the board, try to force people off the board, the board vote staff out for some really stupid reasons...Some of the bullshit my mother has told me about scares me. Yeah, you know I would like a homeless person, or someone from a trailer park. I think maybe someone who knows what it's like to be on the bottom might have a better regard for the "common man/woman's" plight and not pissing away our rights. My first canopy was a Tri 160, loaded at about 1 to 1. In order to land it in no wind conditions I did a double front riser to build up some more speed. This allowed me to plane it out and get some lift out of it. It seemed on no wind days the canopy just had no flare left at the end. Toggles down all the way and nothing there.
