  4. I believe it is absolutely essential to do at least a part of RW jumps with experienced people even if it is going to cost you more. Like camera, experiences skydivers are able to evaluate your performance from exit to track. Analysis or mistakes that we all newbies make is critical for learning. Having experienced skydivers on RW jumps also helps us to perform better since they make less mistakes, correct the mistakes made by others (to some degree) and can be used as stable reference points. Just do not think of pressure and responsibility negatively because it will negatively affect your performance. I think the first step one should make in order to get to jump with experienced people, is to show them that you want to learn (work hard and listen to what they tell you) and care about safety (good awareness and track). If you get to jump solo – spend entire skydive practicing your tracking skills. Visualize, repeat all these dives in you mind and be around big RW dogs. It will be much easier to get to jump with good people after you earn a reputation of safe, easy going and hungry for learning person.

You meet this gorgeous, easy going and intelligent girl. After first date you want more. But some internal voice keeps saying that this is all waste of jumptime and jumpmoney. You don't want to slow down with jumping but you want that girl. What would you do?
  10. Flying around 7-way formation (I was supposed to be 8th) desperately trying to dock. The orbiting was undeniable since they got it on 3 cameras. That's how I earned my nickname Sputnik
  11. Don't worry. I bet most of these PM's are sent by shy guys who are afraid to flirt on public channel
  12. First year of membership means BEER for DZ.com
  13. I'm afraid that if I raise voice I'll be beaten up here ... Never trust damn Russians Seriously, lets remember that we are all big community no matter where do we live and what language we speak. Here is one of the greatest lessons I have learned skydiving: After graduation at SD Texas me and couple of my buddies with fresh ink on A licenses started to check each others gear before loading to airplane. After may be 20 of such gear checks it clicked in by brain that I, former Russian military, completely and without any doubt TRUST MY LIFE to former US infantry and marines. Soon afterwards I realize that they feel the same and it was one of the most amazing feelings! People will never stop hating each other (well, at least in nearest future) but I believe that skydivers can do better than the rest of the world. Cheers
  14. Mike was doing hop'n'pops from Pilatus Porter using several rigs (packed by several packers on the ground). Dozens of people were helping on the groun and in the plane. P.S: I was really proud to have Mike as a jumpmaster on my AFF-2

    Ma baby's hit

Another interesting issue is influence of jumping on behavior on the road. Since I moved to Texas 5 years ago, I have been pulled over 13 times for all kinds of traffic violations and got 7 traffic tickets. Since I started to skydive less than a year ago, I was only pulled over once (doing 70mph on 55 on highway gimme a break). It is amazing that jumping actually makes you a safer driver. There is no need to speed up on highway if you can go much faster without a vehicle. However, safe driving doesn't guarantee complete safety ..

    Ma baby's hit

Aaaaaaaaa ... My little convertible jet was hit in traffic combat Got rear ended trying to avoid the bigger mess on highway Lessons learned: 1) Honda's rule. Heavy ugly Chevy who cowardly hit me, got more damage than my lovely little convertible DelSol. 2) You better drive a freaking tank if you drive in Texas .... The funny part of the story was the first thought right after impact: "Ufffffffffffff ... thanks God I took the rig out of trunk"
  20. Also be selective and choose right people to listen to ... I think there is a high chance to get all kinds of wrong practical advices if you listen to people with less than 200 jumps teaching you HOW TO SWOOP.

    Physiology

When you get to 13.5K feet and realize that you terrible want to take a leak, it doesn't indicate that you're scared. It's physiology
  22. This is just a friendly reminder that Russians were first
  23. I believe that safety is not only a gear check. Safety =awareness & ability to properly react in dangerous situations. All this comes with experience (jumps numbers) and currency. Would you want to fly to Europe in a plane operated by pilot, who only flyz once a month? The fact that “most fatalities are among jumpers who have 200-500 jumps” is a totally different issue.
