  1. But maybe that's a good way to approach it. Get all the ratings and become invaluable at your DZ. Do that for a few years; make thousands of jumps, get paid a little, and have fun. When you finally do get burned out (if and when it does happen) you can always go back to the real world - but at that point you'll have a few thousand jumps and some good stories. Excellent point! The only problem is whether or not you will be able to return to "old&" life. It crossed my mind a few times (after only a year of jumping and less than 300 skydives) to cut away and move to DZ. But the more I think about it the more I realize that the best way of enjoying the sport would be to work hard, make more money and jump as much as you can on weekends polishing your skills and not depending on seasons and customers.

    High/Low

High: Finally installing a new CD-player in my car and listening to some cool staff Low: ...... On my way to work Saturday 9 am
  4. Nice work! Who's the guy in white helemt on first several dives? He looks familiar.
  5. I am very new too and by no means talented but here is couple of tricks that I found helpful. 1) They say you are supposed to relax, so start relaxing after plane passes 2000' on the way up. After 2000' you can relax until pull time, so think that you are already in the air before you actually leave the plane (you will jump anyway will ya?). You should really try to relax in "advance" because there is not way you can do it instantly several seconds before the exit. It is also very important to understand that the scary parts of skydive are takeoff and deployment, not the exit at 13K when you have 60 seconds before you will have to think about saving your life :))) 2) Knowing how to present your body to relative wind on particular exit from particular aircraft is not going to cure you from funneling if you do not visualize. Visualization is a key to successful dive and you should visualize your exit as much as the freefall part no matter what you do on that skydive.
  6. Look at http://www.skydiveu.com and http://www.skydiveu.com/flash/pretask.htm I believe the SDU course is much better than USPA but requirements are much more serious.
  7. LOL ... Same question has crossed my mind
  8. Well, not exactly in freefall ... Watching 4 gorgeous galz exiting a tailgator for raft dive and jumping out next with my full-face helmet wide open ...
  9. I made my first two night jumps last Saturday, one solo and one 8-point 3-way, It was awesome!
  10. I had 2 hard openings on Sabre. Both times, I beleive, due to slider not all the way up. Terrible experience but it teaches you to pay more attention to packing. Glad to hear you're ok, bro! Wish you a quick recovery!
  11. I haven't dated anyone at DZ yet but I think it is a good idea. Of course there is always a chance to break up and suffer the consequences but having a girlfriend/boyfriend who jumps is a serious advantage because there will be no need to explain your passion for the sport and why you spend so much time and money doing it. After less than a year in sport I realized that it is becoming more and more difficult to find time for whuffo friends when you work hard, jump almost every weekend and want to jump more and more. How would attractive whuffo chick react when you refuse to go out, drink all night and have fun because you plan to get up at 6am next morning and rush to DZ

  15. QuoteIn over your head, stress, nerves and performance anxiety isn't my idea of fun. Jumping is supposed to be about fun and developing your skills! When I want the stress and performance anxiety; It will be on my terms - in competition. Oh man round1 on jump run, does it get anymore turned on! I believe that the only way to learn fast is to get on the loads with people much more experienced than you are. Obviously, this adds some pressure because you do not want to screw up, and you know that it will probably be you who make most mistakes on that dive. However, this pressure is a very small price for the opportunity to absorb the experience accumulated during many years of jumping and seeing how things need to be done. If they do not want to play a 4-way with puppies like I am, I will wait for another chance. Luckily they do want to play quite often
  16. It is available on WEB?
  17. My list's short C-182 Caravan Otter Super Otter SkyVan Porter
  18. An idea of learning of how different altitudes look like is only good when one can look down, then look at altimeter and say: Ok, this is how 3K looks like. Otherwise missjudgment (very common thing when you learn) can be very dangerous. As a very new person in sport (less than 200 jumps) I didn't really enjoy my two jumps without altimeter (unintentional). It is not a problem in freefall (especially when you jump with other people whom you trust and whom you can use as a reference), but it is not a good feeling when you main snivels and you do not really know whether you above or below the hard deck.
  19. 100% agree Just have to add that despite I like serious movies made by good film directors, I enjoid watching Cutaway 7 or 8 times and will probably do it again
  20. 191 cm (still trying to figure out how many feet and inches), 182 lb without gear (up to 215 lb with rig and weight vest). The number 90 mph was given for track dives in regular RW jumpsuite (I like to practice tracking on solo jumps). I don't think protrack shows the actual speed for normal track after break off since we only get to track for several seconds and device averages the speed.
  21. According to my protrack I can slow down up to 90mph when track. It's 25% slower than terminal on belly!
  22. it is probably easier to by it from DZ ...
  23. Thanks, Enrique! Ufff ... the price isn't really nice
