Former Marine Fends Off Atlanta Robbers

you are probably just a troll, but I will humor you anyway. Your position on this topic really doesn't make any sense at all. This guy was faced with overwhelming force and ran. Then when cornered he did what he felt he had to do to survive. He beat the odds and managed to defend himself and survive. How can you say he did anything wrong? He was stuck with a pocket knife in a gun fight?! They brought deadly force, so he responded with deadly force. -

apparently that is the recommended action. Followed by sucking ones thumb. -
It took me a little longer then advertised to get my FF2. I just chalked that up to ordering a product over seas. It really is a nice helmet and is well worth the wait. Just try to relax.

At what point is it ok to defend your self? When they start to point a gun at you? When they are pointing a gun at you? Just before they pull the trigger?? After they pull the trigger???? Police can't defend the public. They can only try to catch the criminal after the fact. I would rather be dead for trying to defend myself then dead because I did nothing. -

ha ha ha You gotta be kidding. Submit to all criminals in hopes they will get caught? Submit to being a victim?? You be the victim. I have never backed down to anyone, ever. Even if knew I was going to get my ass kicked I never backed down. I gave as good as I got or better. It is better to die fighting then die like a coward. -

Please explain how you would have handled the situation. How would you fend off 4 attackers with 2 guns? -
hmm yes we do see things very differently I don't see that much of a difference. Maybe that is because I have had many people who are christian or profess to be christian tell me that because I don't believe in God that I am in immoral person.
-
I took your statment ("If that's the case, why live by any rules or moral conduct at all.") to mean that because someone doesn't believe in God that they have no reason to live by any "rules or moral conduct at all". Is that not what you meant?
-
Wow... That's depressing. Added: If that's the case, why live by any rules or moral conduct at all. Why do you assume that because someone doesn't believe in God that they have no morals and no motivation to be a good person?? Does that mean you would have no morals or rules if it were not for your belief in God?

Nice ink. It makes me wonder if Bill Boothe would be flattered

To me it seems silly to attribute any thing to imaginary beings. To say that the Bible was written by men inspired by God doesn't make much sense to me. I see God as a concept that was created by peoples need to explain the unexplainable. I personally don't need to have everything explained. If I don't know I don't know. Why attribute everything to this imaginary God?
-
I really late in this thread but here is my answer to your question. Lots of people believing doesn't make it true. I don't believe because it doesn't make any sense to me and I don't seem to have that need to believe no matter what.

I can't really say I had a slow progression. I went from 220 and 240 sqft mains straight to a F111 PD 9cell 150 and then to a Sabre 2 150. I know now that that wasn't really the best way to down size, but I lived. 150 sqft was 1 to 1 at the time. Now I gained weight instead of down sizing. Just now I am starting to do double front riser landings. I am taking it real slow. I really don't have the money to get a new canopy, so I will push my current canopy as far as I can.

Now that is a good comparison. -

I seriously doubt that it was that simple. We really can't see the full context to put this in. The only way to really understand is to do it. Kind of like skydiving. It can't be explained it can only be experienced. -

I have no idea what I would do and that is all I can say. Any speculation would be totally unreliable, because I have never been any situation remotely similar to that. -

I would think that at the point on Everest that the guy was at it would be more dangerous to stand still then to keep moving. How long would you wait with this guy. Till you froze to death also? The coldest I have ever seen is the record coldest day in Chicago. It was around 1985. That was fuckin cold by my standards and that was no where near the conditions at the time that guy was dying on Everest. -

Even at the expense of your own life? You would do that for a stranger? -
Lee Hardesty has a squarish round that he built and jumped but didn't land. It oscillated way too much to land. He still has some work to do to fix it.

It is a colassal waste of time and money. It doesn't accomplish anything that it set out to do.

October 1997?? maybe you meant 1977?

I have been preached to many times. It still doesn't make any sense at all. I call religion organized superstition. Sorry but you are just going to have to pray for me. This personal proof you talk about is just wishful thinking. Kind of like rubbing a rabbits foot for luck.
-
ok I don't know. I don't understand the concept of God and gods or religion. Why would anyone subject themselves to such imaginary beings in the hopes of living forever with out any proof at all? It just doesn't make any sense.

even if I did have a problem with authority figures what would that have to do with this topic? I have met many religous people who had problems with authority figures. Your generalization goes both ways by generalizing that athiests generally have problems with authority figures you also generalize that religous people don't. I doubt that either is accurate or that there is any way to measure that. For me personally I have found that there are many people that call themselves Christians that more then happy to screw you over any chance they get and still maintain their holier then thou attitude.
