  1. Does that go for the existence of god too? I do have a core belief that I am wonderfully made by a creator that loves me. Dang if everything I see in this world isn't through that lens. ~ Steveorino As a true seeker, surely you can't be afraid of discovering that you might actually be wrong? Sure, I could be wrong, but what evidence will you present to make me change my mind? It is impossible to prove or show evidence that something does not exist. You can only do so through the lack of evidence. If there is no evidence of something then the only reasonable conclusion is that it doesn't exist. You have no scientific evidence (that is the only kind of evidence) that god exists therefore the only conclusion I can arrive at is that god does not exist due to a lack of evidence.
  2. A good biblical student will always read his bible with a different light through the years. Sometimes that light comes from experience, education, teachers/pastors, friends or circumstances. But there is still no way to know if it is correct interpretation or not. There are so many different views on the Bible. Each person has their own unique view and each thinks theirs is correct. How can you call it trial and error if you never know if you are in error?
  3. Then how do you know what the correct interpretation is? How does a therapist know which way to treat his client? Some use folk theology, others use experience coupled with advanced learning to make the best "judgment" I prefer the latter. Same with good biblical exegesis Now that really does not compare at all. Therapists have the benefit in trial and error. Theology does not. BS! My interpretations of scripture has certainly changed over the years through the advantage of experience, additional schooling, and gained insight. No you keep reading the same book over and over again. That is not trial and error. There is no way to know if your interpretation of the Bible is correct or not.

  6. When you start with a conclusion you can find all kinds of "evidence" to fit it. "If the only tool you own is a hammer, then everything starts to look like a nail."
  7. Not a very good comparison. Since the results are easily seen. Not so with god.
  8. btw I am not betting on anything. To me death is a game over. As far as I know there is nothing after death. I am just trying to make the best of what life I have left. I don't need promises of an after life.
  9. I don't know that I would have a "core belief" that god doesn't exist. I just can't believe in something that doesn't make sense. The Bible doesn't make sense to me. I have never read the Koran so I can't say anything about that, but the idea of an invisible god or gods really does not make any sense at all. I perfectly willing to hear out anyones argument for god or gods. My real point in all of this is to maybe get you to think a little out of the box you seem to have yourself in. I don't expect you to change your beliefs. I also don't understand why you don't see the logical error in starting with a conclusion and find evidence to fit it.
  10. You are right. I do have a core belief there is a God. It permeates my thinking. Should I apologize for my convictions and beliefs as they apply to me and my family? Apologize? I don't understand your reply. What I was trying to point out is that you think we should be open to the possibility of god, yet you are not open to the possibility that god does not exist. I submit that that makes you the close minded one in this discussion. It is apparent that religion is an emotional conclusion and not a logical conclusion. Yet you try to endow it with a certain amount of logic. You don't seem to be able to see the failure in your logic. You might consider taking a critical thinking class.
  11. The biggest problem with religion/Belief in God is that it starts with a conclusion and then fits every thing to it. You will never be open to any other possibility. I am certainly open to the possibility of the existence of a god, but to date there has been no evidence to support it. You on the other hand are not open to the possibility that there is no god. You already have your conclusion.
  12. I started at about 400 jumps. The recommended number is 200. I really think that 200 isn't enough. You should be very good a flying your body in just about every atitude, especially if you plan on doing freefly video. The quality of your video is dependent on how good you are at flying your body. I have seen people strap on a helmet with the minimum jump requirement and get frustrated and disappointed by the results. For safety 200 is probably a good number, if you want good video more jumps will most likely be required.
  13. The crime must be sky high there with that many armed children. [please note the SARCASM that might not be apparent to everyone]
  14. Just to make sure. Were you directing towards me specifically or towards everyone? Ok I reviewed my posts and the poor baby one might be construed as a PA albeit a mild PA. Sorry I will try to avoid such posts in the future.
  15. The possibility is so remote that it isn't even a consideration. Not only that if there were an actual god, I find it highly unlikely that he would resemble any described by any religion. I can't really say that there is no possibility of god, but that the possibility is so remote and unlikely considering the evidence available. Also taking into account human psychology, I believe gods are a construct of the human mind. It is a way to explain what cannot be explained.
  16. Whatever. I really don't see the difference. Atheists believe in what can be proven by science. If God could be proven by science then Kallend would probably believe in God.
  17. I grew up around Christianity and was brought up to believe. It never really made sense to me, but being that it was what I was taught from birth I went allong and didn't start questioning till I got older. When I did start questioning I stopped believing. It didn't make sense. I couldn't find any evidence or reason to believe a god exists.
  18. Like I said you can create your own forum and make your own rules. This really isn't a public forum where there are no rules. If you want that you can go to the Use groups.
  19. If there is evidence that can be tested and verified then yes. Any logical person would have to believe. Faith is for people who don't question. If it makes sense then I will believe in it. So far nothing you have said has made any sense and nothing I have read about any religion makes me believe in them or their gods.
  20. If there were actual evidence of God then I would believe in God. There isn't any evidence of any god at all.
  21. It is freedom of speech, you are free to say whatever you want. We are on this forum as long as the owner wants us to be here. He can shut it down if he wants or kick anyone out for whatever reason he wants to. Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom to be on this forum no matter what.
  22. That was decided by the owner of this forum. This isn't necessarily a public forum. You can create your own forum and make up any rules you want.
  23. It's all fine with me till it gets physical. They just show the people I want to avoid. It's called freedom of speech not freedom of speech as long as you don't offend someone. You might want to think about that.
  24. So are we not supposed to say anything that offends you?? Wow are you special!!
