  1. If I were a TM instructor I would refuse just for liability reasons. She isn't old enough to sign a waiver and her parents signature wouldn't hold up in court either.
  2. I don't remember the details, but there was a 4 way team that on one jump had everyone but the video fire their AAD's. I am pretty sure it was here in Dallas. I am sure someone on DZ.com will remember the details.
  3. I uploaded a higher resolution version to SkydivingMovies.com http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=6407 Congratulations to all involved.
  4. It seems that you are making the assumption that it was an illegal stunt. How do you know that it was done illegally?
  5. The fix would be to purchase and install a broadband router. Linksys and Netgear make good broadband routers for home. Their default addresses are something like 192.168.1.1 - 254
  6. I can tell you that you are very wrong and that those two numbers that you say are unrelated are related and will cause a routing problem. Not only that but by your choice of numbers you either show that you are not thinking about what you are writing or you don't know anything about networking. an octet can never be 456
  7. btw unplugging and plugging your computer or a different computer into your router isn't going to help at all. Neither is using ipconfig to refresh or renew your ipaddress. You will need to get into your router settings and change the ipaddresses that it assigns. Good luck. I would give you my number and I could walk you through it, but I am at work right now and don't have that much time.
  8. Why? I didn't see where they comitted a crime.
  9. As far as I can tell the only crime committed was the creation of the small bombs. The BB Guns are not illegal to own. The "Assault Rifle" wasn't illegal to own. Although I seriously doubt that the firearm was anything like a military assault rifle. It seems as though the media will label just about any firearm as an "Assault Rifle" in order to make it sound more then it actually is. The hate writings, although distasteful, are not illegal. This is just another over hyped media story.
  10. umm I do believe you have a typo in your typo point out. And I do believe you have way too much time on your hands.
  11. Wow you have an almighty narrow view to go along with your name.
  12. Texas wasn't even the first state to allow concealed carry permits. I guess you don't know much about Texas.
  13. It's called trying to pass on what you have learned to others so that they don't have to learn the hard way. Just because you were lucky doesn't mean they will be also.
  14. I can think of better things to say then "it's safer then driving". You are better off describing the number of jumps made with out any injuries or deaths and even getting them out to a dropzone and watch everyone landing. Saying that it's safer then driving a car is an attempt at trivializing the danger involved in skydiving. There are many more participants in driving a car then there are skydiving so they don't compare very well.
  15. I think it's a load of shit that people say to try and minimize the risks and try to make skydiving look safe to non skydivers or themselves. I think it is a dangerous saying that can lead to complacency.
  16. Yeah the sombrero was cool The whistle was pretty funny. except they banned him from using the whistle around the swoop pond. They did put one shot in with the sombrero. Unfortunately it was from the back of the group and I was in the front. Oh well.
  17. also for those that don't have tevo or any kind of dvr. Cause I will be at the dropzone saturday.
  18. yeah forgot to add I always pack for myself.
  19. After about 10 jumps in one day I start to get pretty worn out.
  20. Cool I might be in it!! The camera guys needed some audience reactions for the swooping competition. I was one of the audience members. Whoohoo I might get my few seconds of fame!
  21. The difference is those scenarios you stated are controlled environments. On big way jumps the organizor is taking responsibility for those that are on the jumps. The AFF intructors are responsible for the level of skills of their students. With wingsuits and HP canopies there isn't the same level of control.
  22. You apparently missed my point. There are minimum requirements for everything in skydiving. That includes first time jumpers. your "demonstrated ability as an indicator for advancement" is subjective and can not easily be implemented. At the least there should be a minimum number of jumps before trying advanced skydiving disciplines. That at least is easily defined and does insure a certain amount of experience.
  23. How does that even remotely relate to the topic? Are you trying to say there shouldn't be any minimum requirements in skydiving at all?
  24. I think that the minimum recommendations should not be ignored for anyone no matter how "exceptional" they are. By ignoring them for one person you leave open the argument to others that may or may not be "exceptional". The biggest problem with this is that "exceptional" is so subjective that how can you determine who is "exceptional" enough to qualify for exemption? What one person considers exceptional another might not. So who sets the standard for "exceptional"? Bottom line is anyone on any given jump can die. So why get in a hurry. Do the time put in jumps and at least meet the minimum requirements before starting something new. There is always tomorrow as long as you are alive.
