Actually, the AAD is located at the bottom of the reserve pack tray. The thing at the top is just the control. I've never heard of an issue with the magnetic slider keepers, riser covers or D-bags. I would expect that slider keepers and riser covers would have less chance of an effect than the D-bag, because the D-bag is a lot closer to the actual AAD unit.

Well, given that the KKK/Nazi march in Charlottesville back in 2017 (put on by those 'very fine people') was really supposed to turn into a US version of 'Kristallnicht', given that Trump used US troops against peaceful protesters, given that Trump incited the insurrection attempt that is the main subject of this thread, given especially that the very few Rs that have spoken out against this have been silenced and ostracized... You should have used the past tense.

On a somewhat similar note, the Proud Boys aren't quite as "proud" as they used to be. They're running scared. Its almost as if they didn't think that a violent insurrection attempt would have consequences. Its almost as if they thought they could trust Trump. They didn't realize he was conning them. What a bunch of suckers. Link:https://www.rawstory.com/proud-boys-storm-capitol/?fbclid=IwAR0Y6RkMQAZVC4cK0GmMwcpjBL6B6DFSuX55jnxhsSH7kS0TXJ8r_FOZvck

Didn't you get the memo? "Blue Lives Matter" or "All Lives Matter" is just a substitute for "Black Lives DON'T Matter".

Remember the insurrectionist who was beating up the cop using a flagpole (American flag still flying on it) as a weapon? He was also shown on video using both his thumbs attempting to gouge a cop's eyes out. He's been arrested & charged. He's a former (20 year service) NYPD officer. Marine veteran too. https://nypost.com/2021/02/23/ex-nypd-cop-took-part-in-violence-at-capitol-riot-feds-say/?utm_source=facebook_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site buttons&utm_campaign=site buttons&fbclid=IwAR2gCqDYi9ZbqsBhSQjre6I-7gqrZ36lZJVik0IZLC4LUJjcxFkxLoh7jSs

Turns out Leona Helmsley was right. She was just dumb enough to brag about it.

Camera Glasses for Newer Skydivers.
wolfriverjoe replied to Cocowheats's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yup. This was discussed quite thoroughly when it first came out. Very normal jump in most respects. Except for the simple fact that they got so involved in geeking the camera that they NEVER checked their altitude. Until after they were on the ground. In this case "better late than never" doesn't apply. There's a whole sub forum devoted to photog & vid. There's a couple of sticky threads in it that address the question 'why can't I jump a camera when I don't have the experience I am supposed to have?' -
You have to remember that I do the same thing. Drive around the country, sleep in truck stops, rest areas and at customers. I've been in some pretty shady places. Detroit, Memphis, Cincinnati, Newark. No problems. Don't wander around after dark, park where there's lots of other trucks, that sort of thing. The only "First 48" I can think of with a truck driver was the one in Memphis where the driver was killed while parked on the street outside the customer. While I have done that (and in Memphis, too), I was outside a place where there was a gate guard on duty all night. And when he suggested I park on the street, he said it was fairly safe as long as I stayed in the truck (don't go wandering around) and that there would be someone on duty the whole night. I think he's been doing this for a while. He knows what he's doing. And Iowa? Muscatine? Sheesh. He's more likely to face a gang of raccoons wanting his food than gangbangers wanting his wallet.

You'll be fine. How many 'mass shootings' have occurred in truck stop parking lots?

More like he doesn't care. And I agree with the Professor. No idea why anyone responds to him.

Considering the recent revalation that Trump and his minions used the Justice Dept as a personal attack dog, using subpoenas (secret ones) to try to find out where leaks about the Russia probe were coming from, I don't think Trump will be 'forgotten' very soon. This sort of thing, using offical law enforcement and the judiciary to go after personal enemies is getting into 'totalitarian dictatorship' territory in ways we haven't seen before. Hint: Imagine the outrage from the Alt-right if Obama had done anything like this.

Well, Texas is Republican (duh). It's a good thing that they 'don't believe' in global warming. If it was getting hotter, they'd need more power to run the A/C. Oh... Wait... From the article: And it's only June.

Immunization cards (AKA vaccine passports)
wolfriverjoe replied to gowlerk's topic in Speakers Corner
Hi Jerry, I think you've hit the nail on the head. Anti-vaxxers (doesn't matter if they are 'general' or 'Covid-specific'), flat earthers, moon landing hoax types, 9/11 'truthers', fools who believe that Trump won, even creationists. They ignore science, they ignore reality. Anything that proves them wrong is either 'fake' or 'wrong' or whatever. They have convinced themselves that it's true. Getting the 'anti' types to get vaccinated is going to be virtually impossible. They've made their minds up and NOTHING is going to change that. I still remember when Ken Hamm had the 'debate' with Bill Nye. The question was asked of both of them: What would make you change your mind on this? Nye answered "Evidence". Hamm answered "Nothing". That tells you all you need to know about 'educating' the anti-vaxxers. You can't. I'm done feeling sorry for them. Bigun's sister has apparently recovered. She may or may not have long term effects. She likely has a pretty big bill for the services. Some of the unvaccinated will get very sick. Some will die. I've seen & heard reports that there are places where the infection, hospitalization and death rates for the unvaccinated are similar to what the entire country was experiencing last winter. Only the fact that almost half of the adult population is vaccinated is keeping it from getting as out of control as it was. Stupidity has consequences. -
It probably should have been written something like 'those who received a single dose of a two dose vaccine'. The UK prioritized first doses to as many as possible, not worrying as much about the second. There's a fair amount of debate about it, and it has downsides. But it got at least some immunity into a lot more people.

Post trump Legal Actions, Including his Enablers
wolfriverjoe replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
Hi Jerry, First off, he let armed extremists into the building. I'm guessing that his colleagues weren't super thrilled that he did that. Second, according to the story you linked, several of his colleagues asked him directly if he had anything to do with it. And he lied to their faces. -
Wanna bet?

I have a question about TANDEM JUMP
wolfriverjoe replied to KIMYOUNGGIL's question in Questions and Answers
Maybe. But I'll bite. It sounds like the OP had a cutaway, where the RSL functioned as intended. But neglected to pull the reserve handle. He was (correctly) criticized for that and is wondering why. Soooo... You failed to properly execute the emergency procedures. They are written the way they are for a reason. People have died when they failed to properly follow the procedures. If you don't understand why you need to do things correctly every time, get with your head instructor, the S&T A, DZO or the TI/E that you got your rating from. Seriously, this is important. -
Post trump Legal Actions, Including his Enablers

Turns out having a urologist treat your cancer won't get a whole lot of sympthy from judges. Using addiction drugs 'off label' to treat non-symptomatic lymphoma probably didn't help either. -
Climate update - new start to hurricane season
wolfriverjoe replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
You have a slightly different definition of the word 'brilliant' than I do. Either that or we really need a 'sarcasm' font. That's on the same level as worrying about Guam capsizing. -
Job opening with the county; Only Christians may apply
wolfriverjoe replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
Pfft. That's what he does. Christianity is being criticized, so he comes in here and 'throws poo around' to distract & derail the conversation. He also repeatedly and consistently ignores questions about his claims, responding with irrelevant questions rather than answers. I'm still waiting for him to provide that 'preponderance of evidence' that God exists. -
In this case, on that particular platform, I'm fine with her going off script. And, just to be clear, I'd also be fine with a HS valedictorian going off script on any subject they are passionate about. The typical HS graduation speech wouldn't get this kind of attention. Even one that went off topic and onto a controversial subject. If it was something bigoted & hateful (as your anti-trans example), it would get a fair amount of criticism. Any HS valedictorian has worked long and hard to reach that goal. While I mostly doubt that a big part of that goal is to be able to stand up in front of a couple thousand people and tell them 'what's what', it's one of the privileges. I'd be more upset if the school had chosen to shut the mic off and silence her. That also goes for stuff I don't agree with. The actions by the American Legion to shut off the mic during the section of the speech that lauded the freed slaves who's actions were the beginnings of the current Memorial Day holiday were far, far more insulting and offensive (this was posted in the 'deplorables' thread a day or so ago).

Hot chick wearing nothing but feathers! Pictures!!
wolfriverjoe replied to skybytch's topic in The Bonfire
Well, the little ones have gone MIA. The weeds around where they were hiding were somewhat 'trampled' but nothing was torn up. No signs of blood, fur or body parts. Entirely possible mom saw me harassing them and moved them. -
Ok. I was taught to express canopy loading a s a ratio, dividing he weight by the footage to express it as "this many pounds is being carried by each square foot of canopy." This number gives an approximation of the expected performance. For stuff like students and downsizing progression and also for CRW. Since you don't like the 'ratio' expression, how would you like to see it? What sort of notation do you think would be better? Edit to add: Wendy's remonstration came while I was composing this. Not sure if this counts as what she doesn't want.
