Ok, what would he consider 'proof'? Is this like the religious idiots who claim that there's no proof God doesn't exist, so he must? On a similar note, people in Missouri are realizing that getting vaccinated is a good idea. But they're afraid of their friends & family finding out... So they wear disguises. Really. https://news.yahoo.com/people-missouri-wearing-disguises-vaccinated-220338718.html

Hi Jerry, I came across this story from a different source. NBC link: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/it-s-too-late-alabama-doctor-shares-final-moments-covid-n1274659?cid=sm_npd_nn_fb_ma&fbclid=IwAR0HH3lMaulYZUL9f268HX3Aa0SqK6K2v5rFhj04vRCoxAktdsJrNYiH8hI They mention a couple things your story didn't. One being that she declined to be interviewed, saying she needed to 'step back', and that she's been receiving threats. The morons are threatening a doctor who is tired of seeing unvaccinated fools die. Why am I not surprised?

Interesting. I am still seeing the original one in the OP. I'm data limited, so downloading random stuff isn't something I do much. A few thoughts, in no particular order: You need to include some sort of 'training' discipline. AFF, Tandem (it's a training method, even though it's largely a 'carnival ride') and IAD/Static line (yes, it still exists). I'd put that under 'belly' (RW, FS, whatever). Solo jumps and coach jumps might also go there (Advanced training?) Video can be it's own discipline. It could also go under just about every other discipline there is. Videoing tandems is it's own skill set. As is students or teams. I watched a very skilled coach working with a freefly team a couple years ago. In addition to coaching the team, the camera flyer was given a lot of advice. He later said that, while expensive, the coaching was well worth it. He said what he was taught in that one day would have taken months to figure out on his own (if ever). I'd suggest splitting RW into a couple 'sub-disciplines'. Fun jumps (formally organized or just 'thrown together), Competition (4 way & 8 way are pretty popular), "Big way" (not sure how many qualifies as 'big'). Personally, I'm just a 'fun jumper'. Either with a 'DZ sponsored' load organizer or just a few of us getting together and putting a jump together. We design it (exit formation, 3 or 4 formations as points, breakoff altitude, contingency plans), dirt dive it (maybe refine the design), jump it with video if possible (usually is) and debrief after. I've had days where the same 4 or 5 people do the same jump several times. Maybe switch slots around, maybe not. I had one day where the exit (Bow formation) kept getting better & smoother, but the points turned in freefall got worse. Still a ton of fun. Some of the competition folks take it quite seriously. Lots of training, schedules, coaching, tunnel time, all that. There are DZs that will give teams a 'competition pass' (exit at 10500') to give them the most realistic practice jumps. Often, the team members will be 'DZ sponsored organizers' (see above) when not training. Big way is not as big as it used to be (pun intended), but it's still around. The training sessions out in California are still going (P3). The Pops, SOS, and other 'old guys' are still setting records. In fact, there was a women's belly state record set recently in Wisconsin at Skydive Midwest. I would think that freeflying could also separate into 'fun', 'competition' and 'big way' as well. I'm a 'crusty old belly guy', so I'm not super up to speed on that, but I know there are all three at SDMW. Folks throwing together fun jumps, a serious comp team (ChemTrails) and they also set a state freefly record a week or so after the women's belly record.

Don't kid yourself. He understands perfectly well. These two threads have shown some of the most effective gaslighting I've ever seen on here.

The only thing that article 'nails' is all the lies that the Alt-Right are using to try to suppress CRT. You know, censor it.

I don't have an issue with "Pro-Trumpers" on the panel. I DO have an issue with people who told the blatant lie that Trump won the election, stoking the emotions of the insurrectionists. Or with those members of congress who may have been complicit in the insurrection. Funny thing #1 - The Rs had a clear opportunity to be a part of this investigation. NONE of them supported the original investigation panel. Funny thing #2 - The panel the Ds are putting together is virtually identical to the one that investigated the Benghazi deaths. Odd that the Rs hung their hat so firmly on that investigation, yet are demonizing this one.

Half? Ha. Despite the 'Where we go one, we go all' bullshit, only a few hundred showed up on Jan 6. The "call" had gone out. Who showed up? Racists, white supremecists, thugs.
-
Why? They are either 'collaborators' or 'co-conspirators'. If the Ds are willing to include them, they should make the 'deniers' testify (under oath) why they felt the election should not have been certified. Not just 'there was fraud'. Make them detail exactly where and what kind of fraud they think took place. Make them produce evidence of that fraud. They won't be able to. It doesn't exist. This sort of 'both-sidersism' is stupid. This is like bringing a flat earther onto a NASA launch team.

Well, apparently they're also participating in what Tucker Carlson called "Medical Jim Crow" The network is allowing people who prove they're vaccinated to skip over health checks and ignore mask, distancing and other protocols. Hypocrisy at Fox News? Inconceivable!!! https://news.yahoo.com/fox-news-hosts-railed-against-155259852.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAM6T5dKrjUIfGYzJQa5fOGzN-mwx42sN4hrOcg7SZleUs0eU2r499A9Rwk_iQ4yci9OUJkfZndyHqMRP-70aq5YSQMUJvIL3T7mrgZ8gBpoqHBKJkRYHlHvmPOAUfxEUynsxvamm2EFymjXGUKR1Ds4AQi_Ld2M-Zrguh5gQlq1z

Yup. On a similar note, a number of years ago there was a kid with a rather nice truck. He lived a couple blocks from me. I would stop and chat with one of the folks on that block when out with my dog. Of course, he had done all the (illegal) modifications to make it loud & smoky. He had the habit of taking off up the street, leaving a smoky trail behind. The neighbors tried to be nice and asked him to stop. He didn't. So finally, being fed up with black soot being deposited on their houses, cars, lawn furniture, ect, someone asked the cops if something could be done. A few days later, there was a cop sitting at the end of the block. When the kid 'did his thing', the cop pulled him over. After about 5 minutes of looking, the cop was up to about $2k in fines. The cop gave him a break and 'only' fined him $500, but told him the truck had to be parked until it was put back to legal. The truck was up for sale a couple days later.

#1 - As Wendy asked, what size is the reserve? That's probably the most important question. Will you be able to safely land that reserve in a small area, under 'less than optimal' conditions? The main probably isn't too terrible of a canopy for you. The old advice of 'it's too small for you, but if you just be careful you'll be ok' was truly horrible but lots of people survived it. They simply didn't encounter a situation that required more skill than they had. Those that did encounter that sort of situation often got hurt. Or killed. In your case, it's a bit small. But it's a fairly forgiving planform. It's not like you're jumping a Diablo at 1.5:1 or an Apache at 1.5 at less than a hundred jumps (I know people that have done that, successfully). Look at Billvon's "Downsizing Checklist" article (on here in 'safety' I think). Can you do the things on it? How are your landings under what you are jumping now? What are you jumping now? What do the folks that run your DZ think of this idea? (Hint: If they are saying not to and you're coming here to get approval, don't) I don't need the answers to these questions. But you do.

You can still get sick, but you have a much lower chance of getting it, in addition to the 'way lower' chance of ending up in the hospital or morgue.
-
The actual killing was found to be justified (correctly, IMO). However, the fact that his body lay in the street for over 6 hours, in St Louis, in August was one issue. The fact that the cops lied repeatedly about the circumstances of the incident was another (remember the X-ray pic of the broken eye socket?). The fact that the deeper investigation prompted by the shooting revealed blatant and overt racism by the white cops against the predominantly black population was the biggest. BLM grew out of the revelations that, to the cops in Ferguson, black lives DIDN'T matter.

Very true. It's about the people in power (mainly old white men) doing everything they can to maintain that power. And exploit 'the masses' for profit. Poor people of all colors, women, but also, primarily, minorities.

Ya know? This is the crux of the matter. First off, CRT is not taught in any school below college, and primarily at graduate level. The stupid state legislators who are passing laws against teaching it at elementary, middle or high school have pretty much passed laws against something that never happens. Second, it's a theory. Not unlike relativity, evolution or string theories. They take an observed phenomenon and try to explain why it happens. They make assumptions, try to test them and then modify them as the understanding grows & evolves. In the case of CRT, the basic premise is that racism exists (duh). The main question is asking why it is still as pervasive as it is, despite all of the advancements in Civil Rights over the past half century or so. The answer seems to be that there are a wide variety of social constructs (in all sorts of ways) that reinforce the racism. One of the more subtle and interesting ones is how the Long Island Parkway has low bridges. You might wonder how low bridges can be racist. The reality is that those roads are the only way to get to the Long Island beaches. The low bridges prevent buses from using the Parkway. So only passenger cars can take people to the beaches. And poor black people are far, far less likely to have access to a car. So the beaches became 'white only', not by law or rule, but by accessibility. To reduce racism, understanding the underlying causes is vital. Seeing how ingrained those things are is the beginning to the process of removing them. But, of course, studying those things is 'racist'. Removing those barriers would start the process of removing racism. So some people are trying VERY hard to shut down the whole idea of CRT. To the point of spreading lies about it. Go figure.

Started AFF - not sure if skydiving is for me?
wolfriverjoe replied to Jinisha's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
A few thoughts in no particular order: If you want it, go for it. Better fitness and flexibility are always a good thing, but there are some really out of shape people who jump and do just fine. Also some 'old and crunchy' types (including me) who do ok. Student gear sucks. It's big & heavy. It's "one size sort of fits most, but not really". Once you get through the progression and get your own stuff, it gets a lot better. The instructors should know what they are doing. The 'big & baggy' jumpsuit slows you down. The weights speed you back up. Part of the job of the instructor is to make sure that they can fly with you. From their viewpoint, it's easier to make you go faster and work to stay down with you than have you go slower and fight to stay up with you (it's easier to speed up than slow down). It would have been better to find a tighter suit and skip the weights, but that may not have been an option. Perhaps you can find a smaller jumper who is willing to let you use one of their suits. Most jumpers have at least a couple. I'm not surprised you were exhausted. Much of it was mental, rather than physical, but that doesn't make it less real. Some places have golf carts or similar to bring jumpers back from a distance. It's a nice thing, especially for early students who are often overwhelmed and exhausted, even if everything goes well. -
For his logic to 'need work', it would have to actually exist. I have yet to see any real evidence of that. Jakee is right.

Well, the numbers don't lie. 40% of new cases are from 4 states. 20% (one in five) are in Florida. https://www.abcactionnews.com/news/region-hillsborough/feds-1-in-5-new-covid-19-cases-in-the-u-s-is-in-florida Here in WI, the 7 day average has more than doubled. From mid-70s last week to around 150 the past couple days.

Because there's no way Trump will approve of anything Biden recommends. The only 'card' they have left is 'we hate Biden and the Ds'.
-
Sourcing on this is a bit sketchy. A variety of folks are questioning the authenticity. However, it's been apparent since before the 2016 election that Trump is basically in Putin's pocket. The Russian money, Trump's clearly 'compromisable' behaviors (I'd bet pretty heavily that the Russians have much 'better' videos than the "Pee Tape" that haven't been made public), Manafort, all that. The 'Intelligence Community' reportedly stopped telling Trump certain secret stuff (primarily about Russia) because they had reason to believe he would tell Putin. Trump 2024. MRGA.

Post trump Legal Actions, Including his Enablers
wolfriverjoe replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
^This. The lawyers submitted affidavits that basically stated 'the witness said this'. Now they are saying they hadn't even read the statement, let alone actually spoken to the witness. What the witness said, whether it was true or not, or any of that is totally irrelevant. They pretty much committed perjury when they submitted a statement that was a lie. As an aside, it's rather funny (not really) that so many of the people that want the Ten Commandments prominently displayed in public places (courthouses) are completely ignoring the fact that one of those commandments says something about "bearing false witness."
