Best thing I can tell you is find an Alzhiemer's support group that can help guide you through this difficult path. You do not have to go through this alone. Best of luck... 2nd the suggestion for the support group. They don't change what you have to face, but they make it a hell of a lot easier knowing you aren't alone. They will have suggestions, ideas and resources. And they say "a problem shared is a problem cut in half". "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Even though the magazine went out of business, the store website is still up. I don't know what's up with that. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

PIA Rigging Committee - What should it do?
wolfriverjoe replied to councilman24's topic in Gear and Rigging
Okay, I didn't realize the difference. I've had to deal with the FAA on a few occasions and the buracracy (sp?) was staggeringly stifling. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -

Right. But through the airmass, the canopy will fly exactly the same. No matter how the airmass is moving (as long as the movement is steady). "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -

I'll second that, if the FAA is receptive to our input and review. The Practical Test Standards need a lot of work as well. Mark You are talking about the same FAA that still has a "Lap" rating on the books, right? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." That's both true and false. Commercially produced cartridges have certain tolerances. Bullets weights, powder charges, case capacity all can vary. Those tolerances are not large, but can "stack". And for the most part, rifles and shooters aren't good enough to notice the variation (the errors caused by the shooter and the gun outweigh the errors from the ammo). But a very good shooter, with a very high quality rifle can benefit from reducing those tolerances as much as possible. Culling bullets (or using very high quality match grade bullets), measuring powder charges individually to within 1/100 of a grain, culling cases to make sure they are as alike as possible (weighing them and prepping them) all will improve accuracy. This is of course after finding the most accurate load combination for the gun. There are a couple guys at my local range that are "accuracy snobs". Start with 10 or 15 different load combinations, work down to the best one, and then make that one as accurate as possible. 3 holes touching at 100 yards is what they are going for, and often accomplish. But it's a lot of work. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Just to add some more fuel to the fire: Does a paper airplane behave differently on the ground (say in the hangar where there is no wind) compared to inside an airplane that is flying through the sky? Is it going to behave differently inside the plane if you throw it toward the front or toward the back? And if you have a big enough airplane, how about to the side? How about turns? And if not, how is it different just because the air is contained in the plane vs the whole airmass moving (as it does in a steady wind)? The necessry qualities for a good instructor are the same for both. A strong knowledge of the sport. A strong attitude toward safety. Enthusiasm toward newcomers and a willingness to pass the knowledge and attitudes on. An abilty to communicate well and to teach well. By the time you develop those attrubutes, you will have a much better idea where you want to go. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Replying to a couple different people here: Ron - Not necessarily on the 3rd party candidates. If a group (or collection of groups and companies) doesn't like either of the major party candidates, they can now spend their own money for ads for the outsider. Far more money than they would be able to donate to a campaign. I'm not sure if it will happen, mainly because 3rd party candidates won't have the "Party Machine" behind them after they are in office, but I think it's at least a little more likely. Mnealtx - While lobbying and political ads/speech are not the same, they do have the same objective. Getting access to the person in office. Lobbying is gaining access after the election, campaign donations (and now the ads/speech) are done with the expectation of access after the election. A lot of the major players donate to both sides in an election. That way, no matter who wins, they have the ability to say "We gave you XXX, we now expect you to listen to what we want you to do". If they allowed topless photos for passport ID they'd never be able to identify anyone!! Well.. No one female, anyway! Plus, think of how long the queues would get & how much longer it would take at the border! If you think about how quickly the entries in the "Name That Rack" thread get solved, topless would be a good way to ID "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." U.N. climate chiefs apologize for glacier error

The real problem is that we are doing serious damage to the environment. I believe that by the time that damage is obvious, it will be too late and irreversible. But until the damage is obvious, too few people will be willing to make the sacrafices necessary to stop it. So the data is "massaged" to make it look worse than it is. So maybe people will start to do something. Good intentions, but we all know where they lead. It now looks like the AGW proponents are "crying wolf", and destroying their credibility. Way cool. I'm guessing that the moving people are done with magnets under the floor. The cars look like "slot cars" but could be magnet operated too. My dad was part of a local model train club for years. He was more into the "train" part of it (he was the club mechanical guy), but they had a couple guys (and a woman) who were into doing the scenery/background/buildings. They had some pretty cool stuff. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -
Meh, don't worry about it too much. NONE of the customs folks care about how you look in the passport photo. Everyone has butt-ugly passport photos (driver's license too). Besides, after spending hours going through airport security, being stuck on the plane for more hours (usually with a screaming kid behind you kicking your seat) you'll look a lot closer to a crappy pic than a pretty one. Are you giving up your Canadian citizenship for the Brit? or going dual? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Actually, that's kind of how I meant it. Clearly "marked" ads (marked meaning it says who paid for it) for or against candidates. Exxon ads for GWB (or Haliburton). Smith and Wesson ads against Diane Feinstein or Charles Schumer. Viagra ads for Bill Clinton Seriously, knowing who is supporting (or opposing) a candidate would tell me a lot more about where they really stand on issues than any crap they promise from the podium. I haven't been to a hockey game in ages. My mom wanted to go, so she sprung for tickets. Mom, me, a freind and her two kids. Just by chance, it was the 11th annual Teddy Bear Toss. Youtube Local Paper Photos 6400+ stuffed animals that will go to the local children's hospital. If you look closely, you can see the goalies hiding inside the nets. We were sitting in the 5th row, and I got bonked with several bears that weren't thrown hard enough. That was cool, it gave me a couple more to throw. Again, you're right. But again, the Iraq war and the tobacco settlement happened under the old rules. The political spin and obfuscation along with the corporate lobbying and influence are not new. I would like to think this decision will make that behavior a little bit more open and obvious. A few people (both in this thread and in the "real world") have made the joke about giving the politicans NASCAR style suits. So we can see who their sponsors are. Would that change how the voting would go? I don't know. But I really believe that everyone (corps, lobbyists, unions, et al) being able to say what they wish is fundamentally good. Going back to 08, (and back to guns - I'm not a single-issue voter, but guns are the one I'm most conversant on) Obama ran an ad shortly before the election claiming to support the 2nd Amendment. His voting record in the Illinois senate and the US senate was completely opposite. The Repubs didn't bother to respond, and the NRA was barred from doing so. While I don't believe it would have changed the outcome of the election, it would have exposed a blatant lie by the Obama campaign. And that would be a good thing. And not all "corporate wishes" are bad things. While there are many who think only of short-term profits, and some are genuinely hostile to the US, there are others who do think long-term. And who realize that destroying the US's society will hurt them in the long run. Oooh look - something shiney! "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Right. And that's where the power has always been. This decision just puts it out in the open, hopefully we will be able to see who's paying how much for what. Given the speed and pervasivness of things like twitter and facebook, grassroots campaigns have a lot more power than ever. (look at Iran) Like I said above, if there is a huge ad campaign by Citgo (for example) there will probably be a fairly big reaction by a lot of folks who will make it very clear that Citgo is a Venezualan government owned corporation, controlled by Hugo Chavez, who probably doesn't have the best interests of the US close to his heart. That campaign could easily backfire, and cause whatever candidate or issue that Citgo is supporting to fail, based on who was financing it. Or the "useful idiots" could go "Look at the pretty commercials" and vote a corporate shill into power. I can see that happening too, but as a less likely outcome. Or don't. What's happening is that when the car is shut off, oil puddles under the valve cover (the thing you just replaced the gasket on). At that age, the valve guide seals are probably junk. It's also possible that the valve guides themselves are worn. A small amount of oil leaks down the valve stems and ends up in each cylinder by the time you go to start it up. Big cloud of smoke. It doesn't hurt anything (you will burn the plugs clean as long as the engine gets warmed up), doesn't use a lot of oil. As long as you don't mind smoking out the yard (it helps control the mosquitos), on a car that old, it probably isn't worth it. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." This is the most honest, caring and giving group I've ever been a part of. (skydivers, not just here on DZ.com). They won't hesitate to help you, teach you, correct you or kick you square in the balls if you deserve it. I attribute it partly to the risk we face jumping, and partly to the fact that we face that risk. MarkM said "You jump out of fucking planes. Wear women's underwear if you want. We won't care and you'll still have more cool points than the wuffo's watching football at home on Sundays". You are willing to listen, willing to learn. I don't agree with your attitude towards women, but that really doesn't matter. You jump (not right now, but you know what I mean) and you get it. Even when you are an asshat, you are still one of us. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Thinking of tossing out all your thongs and buying boy shorts, are we? If she's thinking of tossing out her thongs, she should give them to Bolas. "Give"!!?? Hell! With all the buzz her poll has caused around dropzone.com, mama could sell her old thongs... laundered or not... and likely make a good deal of scratch! I think she could make a good deal more scratch selling them without the laundering not to mention saving the time not washing them. And to answer the OP question THESE girls look pretty hot in their "boyshorts". (It's the Siemens commercial with the topless girls jumping out of the big transport to "Ride of the Valkyeries") Yes, it's a repost, but someone else reposted it again and I thought of this thread when I saw it "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Equal acces means they have to be allowed to air ads. Whether or not they can afford to is a whole different question. Exxon/Mobil could afford a whole lot more ads than the Sierra Club for example.
