Hands of the Doomsday Clock to move Thursday
wolfriverjoe replied to nerdgirl's topic in Speakers Corner
Interesting. They specifically mentioned the election of President Obama and his willingness to work with other nations on both nuke issues and climate issues. I'm not a big Obama fan, but I agree that there is no way we can go on doing what we please without considering what the rest of the world does. But "Six Minutes To Midnight" just doesn't have the same "ring" to it as Two Minutes does (YouTube) "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." #1 - He asks for it. By starting this thread, he opened himself up to these attacks. It's not the first time he's done it. #2 - A lot of the guys are taking the women's side to score points with them (Attack Shah, get closer to the women) #3 - I don't see anyone taking it beyond this thread. Some of the folks who are slamming him hard in this thread are offering serious, helpful suggestions in the "San Diego" thread. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Youre asking SKYDIVERS.... How many of these guys do you know that absolutely will not be with a woman if she isnt Barbie??? We spend our weekends outside in the nasty heat/cold doing what we love. And that's skydiving. I know maybe one girl that still looks drop dead gorgeous while doing it (I know I dont) but that doesnt mean they arent damn sexy. Okay, that brings up a question I've been wondering for a while. Why are skydiver women so hot? They may not all be "supermodel" beautiful, but every last one of them is super sexy. It's almost an "aura" around them. I don't understand it (and really don't care if I ever do or not), but something about them is really attractive. And no, I don't mean just in the airplane when I can blame it on hypoxia. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." why can a woman be superficial and a guy can't? I'm sorry I don't get it. I wonder if I has replaced guy with drag queen. Can RuPall be superficial? well thanks for your response. How about because if women are superficial and put out, most men don't care if they are superficial. But if men are superficial, most women (at least the ones with class) aren't going to give them a second look. Go back a couple posts and read about high-end keychains. Oddly enough, my Porsche keychain has a Porsche key on it. The reaction of the women to it is usually in inverse proportion to their availability. The ones who go the most nuts over it (I had one who wanted to feel the upholstry) are married. The single women go "Oh, it's nice". Good thing I didn't buy it to pick up women isn't it "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Why are people not more angry at Wall Street?
wolfriverjoe replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
Right. That isn't how it was set up, and it was kept secret. Probably because if the public knew how much money was going where it went there would have been a revolt. I understand the need to keep the banking system from collapsing, but I really wish (yeah I know, wish in one hand, shit in the other - see which one fills up first) they had set up a way for those profiting from the AIG bailout to repay the money. TLC (The Learning Channel) did a couple shows that were real repos. Some of them were a little scary, but none of them had the assaultive behavior by the repo guys. Some of the tricks and techniques they used were interesting. Like "test driving" a bike that the guy was trying to sell, then having the partner hand the poor guy the repo paperwork. But the crap on that show is so over the top, and unbelievable. Those guys would end up in jail at the end of each episode if it was real. The reality is called Peaceful Repossession. Why are people not more angry at Wall Street?

They are. Goverment money which is our money. As I understand it, the companies issuing the cash to execs did not take any bail out or paid it back. Ok, how much profit would Goldman Sachs have made if AIG hadn't paid out (all gov't money) on the insurance policies on the mortgage backed securities? That was government money that hasn't been paid back. I would like to have seen 90-95% tax on all net profits by any company that recieved AIG money. But that isn't going to happen. So, they were offered money. They paid it back, they made very good money with the loaned dollars and pay their execs good because they performed well, and now you want to punish them for doing what the gov loaned them the money for in the first place. You voted for Obama didnt you No I didn't vote for Obama. And you missed my point. AIG was bailed out with taxpayer dollars. That money has not been (and probably won't be) paid back. That money was used to pay out insurance policies that had been taken out on the "credit default swap securities". All throughout the banking system. AIG was the "keystone" that would have taken down the economy if it had failed and been unable to pay out on these policies (all over the world, not just the US) that were hedges on the securities tanking, which they did. And a lot of these banks would not have made the ridiculous profits they made. But they made profits. Because they received payouts on the now worthless investments. Payouts from AIG. Payouts from the taxpayer. To sum up: How much profits would Goldman Sachs made if AIG hadn't been bailed out by the government and if all the mortgage backed security insurance policies hadn't covered the losses? And why is it wrong to expect those who made profits because of a government bailout (even though they didn't get the bailout directly)to pay the government back? I'm trying to hold back laughter but I can't. Sorry! So that's a no? Read post #7 again. Hook, line and sinker would indicate it was a joke. He got me for a second too. I hope he doesn't have any thing bad happen for real soon, because I'm not gonna believe him. I would think a dog wouldn't drink gas. Siphoning it sucks bad enough for me that I think the dog would leave it alone. Antifreeze OTOH is scary. It tastes sweet, and the glycol causes kidney damage fast. It's a HUGE support system because it's a small community. It helps that there isn't more than one degree of seperation (I may not know you, but I'll bet there's at least one person we both know). To the OP: The gear is only tested to 254 lbs (US standard, but it's used all over). That includes the weight of the gear. 220 lbs is as high as you can go with standard gear. There is a group that call themselves the "Anvil Brothers" (I bet you can guess why). They would be the ones who would know about the special gear for heavy students. I know there is some, but I don't know more than that. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

England: TV Star Warned Over Waving Knife At Intruders
wolfriverjoe replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
I think it should ALWAYS be ok to run down and restrain the criminal. However, the level of force needed to accomplish that aim is the real question. Depending upon the ability of the pursuer to restrain the criminal vs the amount of resistance the criminal puts up. A huge Father with SEAL training could restrain some punk with little damage to the punk - no matter how hard the punk resists. He should not damage the punk, he has special training in this. however, a 'normal' father with little martial training subduing the same punk might have to hit the kid on the head to restrain him. that would be justified - the father is under no obligation to take damage if he chooses to try and hold a criminal for law enforcement arrival. Cops are under no obligation to go toe to toe, no reason for civilians to either. so if a pursuer atttemps to do the minimum of damage allowed by his ability for the scenario, then any damage the criminal takes is purely the fault of the criminal (that's true with the cops, that's true with the father) Edit: establishing a law that says one cannot pursue no matter what is a travesty, no law can anticipate all scenarios to that restriction. Even in most cases, not restraining or not pursuing is likely the wisest course The problem with this reasoning is that civilians are not cops. Partly training, mostly authority. Pursuing has a lot of risks. Restraining the suspect (he isn't a criminal until he's convicted in court) has more. And in most juridictions, use of deadly force (and a cricket bat to the head is definitely deadly force) can't be used on a fleeing suspect. Even if he has threatened to come back and get you. The immediacy just isn't there. Carry permit classes teach to "stop the attack". As soon as the attack stops, it stops being self-defense. And yes, that means if a guy shoots you, and turns and runs after you pull out a gun, you can't shoot him in the back as he runs away. Realistically, after being shot, you could say that you feared he would turn back toward you and shoot again, but depending on the local officials attitudes, charges could be filed (and have been). It is usually defined as "reasonable". Which varies depending on the local attitudes. Big grey area. It usually ends up as "How would a jury rule". What's wrong with going to your home DZ? Or even to an instructors house (if they have a big enough living room)? But to answer your question, I think yes. As long as all the spaces on your card are signed, you send it in and get your "A" license. (or get the stamp and it is your A). But I could be wrong. I may be wrong, but I don't think you have to actually jump the pack job. You just have to pack unassisted. I looked at the 2-page card on the USPA site. Worked well in Kennesaw (where gun ownership is mandatory) today It happened at a Penske truck shop. It's my experience that many workplaces and businesses like that are posted "No guns allowed". Kennesaw's rule (which has had zero prosecutions for voilating it) is for homeowners, not businesses. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Moving off student gear this weekend!

Bounce Bingo. Sort of a betting pool as to when dude is going to get hurt. It is a comment that hopefully makes this dude rethink his chioce. If people are betting about when (not if) he will get hurt or killed, he might realize how dangerous his behavior is. But, since he has already claimed Mad Skilzzz... JMS8800 - Seriously - You may well know your body and have great agility, reactions and all that. But you don't know what this canopy is capable of. There is a reason you shouldn't be on it. Look at the profiles of the people saying it's a bad idea. There are some world class skydivers on this site. NONE of them are saying that this is a good idea. Think about it. Ok, change all the places in federal law that say "marriage" to "union" and "husband" or "wife" to "partner" (or some equivalent). I am guessing that there would have to be thousands (probably tens of thousands). And each one would have to be changed. A blanket "change them all" wouldn't work (for the reasons above). I think getting the religious types to accept the word "marriage" applied to same sex couples would be easier "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." The brats you get at McDonald's are Johnsonville brats. At least they were when I worked there during high school. They still are. And Johnsonville are the best mass produced brats there are. Ok, near the bottom of the story they mention a guy who was jailed for using a cricket bat on intruders who had tied up his family. Is that true? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -
There's a big difference between little kids playing on it and a real customer testing it out. If you make it clear that if you like it you're going to buy it, they'll let you test it out and show you how to switch it around. If they don't - go elsewhere (or talk to the manager). Referencing a later post of yours - The guys at Play It Again are usually pretty good about showing stuff if the store isn't packed. AND they may have a suggestion for someone to help you tear it down, move it and set it back up. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." True, but in your (our) area, you just have to look west and wait. Out there, with the coast and the mountains, there's a lot more variables to deal with. When I first started flying, my instructor would show me forecasts, and then compare the later reports of actual conditions. We have more accurate short term forcasts because we have the more favorable conditions/topography "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
