Am I misunderstanding, or are you suggesting that she would need to go to rehab just because she tried cocaine one time at a party? If she gets caught with a dirty drug test, the only way to keep your job is often an assesment, and if they say "go to rehab" then that's what you do. She may or may not "need" to go to rehab, but it may be the only way to keep the job. Someone who "tries one line at a party" probably isn't going to have a real drug problem. If you look on the price list, the "suits" are available as full suits or two piece units. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

I recycle them. A lot of newspaper is made from recycled materials. It's pretty low quality and can use recycled fibers. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Sort of. At 32 I decided I hated my mill job and wanted to go back to college. I got started, and for 2 years took one class per term (including summer) and lived super cheap (including living with my parents) to save up as much as possible. I quit my job and started school full time as a sophomore. At the end of the first semester of full time "studenthood" I had 35 credits, a 3.85GPA and had been accepted for the following year (as a junior) at UW Madison for computer engineering. The 35 credits included stuff like Calculus, Chemistry and Calc-based Physics. Halfway through the 2nd semester, I "imploded". I'm still not exactly sure what happend, but it was no longer the right place for me. So I bailed. I goofed of for a month, and then signed up at the local tech college for Commercial Truck Driving School. 2 1/2 months later I was driving over the road. No regrets. I truly love what I do. I don't make anywhere near the money an engineer does, but I have enough to be happy. If I had continued with school, I would have entered the workforce nearing 40, up to my eyeballs in student debt, as the economy was crashing and the jobs were moving overseas. I often say that even though it didn't work out the way I planned, I never would have been able to plan it working out as well as it has. I'm not. If not, was it because the other networks weren't willing to have her on? Or because Coakley couldn't be bothered to go on national TV for a race she was certain to win? And this sort of "news" (by either side) was one of my biggest complaints about McCain/Feingold. It allowed this sort of blatant promotion of a candidate by a "news" organization, but not by any other corporation. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Well, there was a time when I was young and idealistic (and naive and stupid) and actually believed in a candidate and what he said he stood for. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

It's actually more of a safety issue regarding people paying attention and being able to hear flight attendant orders in case of an emergency...same thing for iPods & video players ect. It doesn't have any magic effects on the controls or communications of a commercial AC. You will however drain the battery pretty quick on a cross country fight because it's constantly searching for towers. It may or may not have any "magic effects" (probably not). But it hasn't been "certified" (due to costs) as safe. I saw on National Geographic when they scrapped a 747 that a certified coffee maker (tested safe and with full documentation) was worth $2000. The other problem using a cell phone from a plane is that it ties up too many cells. On the ground you will be talking on one cell, and locking that frequency up in maybe one or two of the adjacent cells. Because the higher altitude increases the range of the phone, you can easily lock up that frequency on dozens or more cells if you use it in a plane. At least that's what I was told some time ago. If I'm wrong (in whole or part) please correct me. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Me too. Some of the questions were so obvious (send Michael Moore to Guantanamo), but I guess some idiots really believe that. The odd part is that I really haven't voted for a candidate in a long time. I haven't seen a candidate that I actually wanted in office in a long time. My vote is usually a "lesser evil" choice against the other guy. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." No. A lot of people make mistakes. In an off the job situation (Being under the influence on duty is a different deal) getting a positive drug screen doesn't automatically get you fired if you are a truck driver. I haven't personally been there, but the "guilty" party is usually offered assessment and treatment, and if that is completed successfully, keeps the job but is subject to a much higher rate of testing for a fairly long time. There was a news report on NPR a "while back" (not sure when, not sure where from) about a principal at an urban high school who cancelled school dances for the remainder of a school year (it happened in fall IIRC) after the students did this sort of thing on the dance floor at a school function. They had been warned not to do it, and what the consequences would be if they did, and they did it anyway. (Again, IIRC) The principal said he had nothing against dances and dancing, but this sort of thing was obscene. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." It's more of a "momentum" issue than inertia. Conservation of momentum is calculated with the simple mass x velocity instead of mass x velocity(squared) that's used for calculating energy. Kallend brought this up a while back (very subtly and no one took it any further) Pool balls are the easiest way to visualize it. Would a pool table on an airplane work? Or in a car moving steadily down a very smooth road? Or would there be different reactions by the balls depending on which way the shot was made? Again, assuming that the movment of the reference frame (car or plane) is very steady. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." When the fear of change is outweighed by the pain of not changing. When you can honestly say "I'd rather be out of work, eating at the Salvation Army because I can't find another job than being here at this job" I have had a few bad weeks in a row at work myself. It seems to happen in the beginning of each year. I'm not sure why, but the 1st quarter has been unpleasant for the past several years. The idea of quitting, moving south and living on a DZ as a rigger/packer/pilot has it's attractions. But I need/want the security and benefits that my job has, and I do really like it. Or better yet, try it with a tiny R/C plane in a van, then have the van go backwards at 25mph in the cargo hold of a C-5. And then have the C-5 go both with a 150kt jetstream wind and then against it. Woo Hoo!! "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Ummm... No they're not. Believe me, I've tried. I was lucky enough to find a Porsche in 05. I bought it for a bunch of different reasons. Fortunately none of them were about attracting women because it didn't happen. The best reaction I got was the woman who lived across the street from my folks. She came across the street to say hi, saw the car and started jumping up and down screaming "Oh wow, you got a Porsche!!" She's over sixty and quite heavy. She really enjoyed the ride I gave her, she commented that next time she would wear her fur coat, and that she felt like a "Bond Girl". Sadly, that set the stage for future encounters. Married women really like it, and have asked for rides or to sit in it. Women in solid relationships usually ask if they can drive it. Single, available women look at it and say "It's a nice car" Although a friend calls it my "penis extender", the only people it attracts are old married women and 12 year old boys. The latter. Then there'd have to be revisions in 51 separate jurisdictions. This way, the federal govt is able to enact a certain uniform standard nation-wide with a single edict, at least as long as the truck or bus is subject to interstate travel. While I'm not a big fan of the federal government taking more and more authority and calling it "interstate commerce", this is one of the very few I agree with. Specifically w/r/t trucks. Having one uniform standard throughout the country is a lot better, simpler and easier than a patchwork of different rules in different places. Right now I can legally use my phone (although company policy forbids using it while driving) in some areas, but not others. It gets a bit difficult to rememeber where I can and where I can't use it. I agree that more enforcement of "distracted driving" laws would be better than passing more and more "You can't do this while driving" laws. What's next, "you can't change the radio station" while driving? Unfotunately, when they see a cop, most people stop doing stupid things like eating, shaving, putting on makeup, reading papers, changing clothes, and all that other crap. So they are driving well when the cop sees them. And christelsabine - Here in the US there are a lot of single officer cars. Only one cop on board. Watching them roll down the road, tapping on the laptop that's on the passenger seat is a little disturbing. Although I must admit, most of them seem to do a good job driving while doing so. I rarely see them weave or anything like that while doing so. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Continuing to show the amazing things he did so that others may find the inspiration to do similar things would be far more "respectful" towards his accomplishments than "removing the video as a sign of respect". Probably double that... More than that. It was posted earlier this week, and I reposted it into the "Thong or Boyshorts" Poll thread. It's still funny. Completely fake, horrible CGI, but funny. A lot of people think that they need a hunting rifle that will drive tacks. During sight-in season for deer hunting, I get a couple every year that want to see 1" groups at 100yd, and are frustrated when they can't. I then ask how far they will realistically be shooting... "Oh, 75 yards, 80 tops" At a whitetail deer. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Very true. The casualties in WW 1 were truly horrific. And in many cases unnecessarily so. The incompetence of the French leaders was inexcusable. But it's not the first time (or the last) that the generals lost this war fighting using the last war's tactics. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." That scene has been "re-subtitled" a bunch of times. Here's a YouTube with one, there are more on the side There was a thread a while back with one comparing the last "Paramedic"TV show with the classic "Emergency". I think NickDG did it, but I searched without success. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

ALthough that is the usual joke surrounding the Lebel Rifles... MANY of those same rifles had been used by several dead French soldiers from the trenches of WWI. You will find a lot of them with pretty lousy barrels. Do you have any idea how many young men died with those rifles? Oh crap, here we go with the frog jokes. I take it that a lot of infantrymen used those rifles successfully after the original owners dropped them? No, the original owners were slaughtered with them in their hands after their commanders sent them on an impossible suicide mission. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 100,000 of them is a few days during one disasterous offensive. Wiki Clicky "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Link fixed. I have the P90 Coolpix. Next model up the scale. It's a really great compromise between a point-and-shoot and an SLR It takes great pictures, and the versatility is really nice. But, as has been said, without a way to attach a remote shutter release, it won't work. I've toyed with the idea of rigging up a way to attach a remote release, but it's probably simpler, cheaper and more reliable to get a different camera.
