Her posts run a bit long, but are well worth the read. I think it was Normiss who first exposed me to her.

This one is really strange (in addition to being a poster child for Trump's corruption). Apparently, Barr can't fire him. He was appointed as 'acting' by Sessions. That was done because the Ds in the Senate vowed to block his nomination, because he was a true Trumpette in a place where Trump had a LOT of ongoing investigations. And Barr didn't officially 'fire' him. Barr said he was going to resign ('step down' was the term in the press release). As noted above, Berman said "Nuh Uhhhh". There's a whole lot more to this. Heather Cox Richardson did a pretty good job of explaining it (the post from June 19th for those reading it in the future): https://www.facebook.com/heathercoxrichardson/

Apparently it ran 88 times. Heil Hitler. Really. There's an idea being floated out there that they intentionally ran an ad this revolting in order to get it banned. It would then get free publicity. Cheaper than paying for it to run.

Here in Wisconsin, the then-Governor shoved legislation through that took away the ability of civil servants to collectively bargain. Essentially shutting down the public sector unions... For everything but police & fire. He did this as one of his first legislative actions in office, yet had never mentioned it during his campaign. The backlash was pretty significant. He was recalled, but survived the recall election and served out his term.

Well, that's what you get when you ask the public to name something. At least they didn't pick "Parky McParkface".

Nothing about this is a protest. (NSFW Racial Expletives)
wolfriverjoe replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
Actually, it was Oprah Winfrey who gave the interveiw, and her comments were more along the line that Obama was subject to a lot of extra criticism due to racism. Which was pretty much true. The part about the Alt-Right and racists pretending she claimed that all the criticism was racist is absolutely correct. I seem to remember certain people on here claiming exactly that. -
Seen on FB: When a black man is killed by the cops, they tell us all the bad things he used to be. When a white man rapes, they tell us all the great things he could become.

They've been crawling out from their caves and from under rocks ever since Trump rose to prominence.

Actually, your implication that the pastor you agree with speaks for all black people is more racist than the Professor calling him a moron. See below. Because it validates his beliefs. And when does anything he posts follow what had just been said? -
I guess I see it as a 'self fulfilling prophecy' sort of thing. A 'positive feedback loop'. Black men are seriously scared that they will be killed in any random encounter with the cops. Even if they comply with all commands. For good reason. There's a 'Now This' video of a cop pulling his gun on a black man who had a 'grabber' in his hand and was picking up trash on a college campus. The cop called it a 'dangerous weapon' and demanded the man drop it. So these men are so afraid of being killed, that they run away in these situations. Or fight back. Maybe if the cops learn that unjustified killings will result in the city being burned, they might stop killing people for no good reason. Yes, there was no good reason to shoot him. He had a Taser (non-lethal). It had been fired (they are a one shot weapon). So he was essentially holding a stun gun in his hand, going up against a bunch of cops. Maybe if the cops stop killing black men for no good reason, those people will stop fighting back and running away. Yes, it's a 'Chicken or Egg' issue. But to pretend the cops have no responsibility for the problem is ignoring reality (something a LOT of people are very good at).

SCOTUS says federal law protects LGBTQ workers from discrimination
wolfriverjoe replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
No. You keep trying to twist this. Kind of like your belief that the "CHAZ" is comparable to Mogadishu. And like that, you're completely wrong. Discrimination against groups is against the law. Groups like religion, race, sexual orientation, age, that stuff. In case you aren't aware of it, those sorts of groups have become 'protected' because of a history of hatred and discrimination against them. Hating people who exhibit bigoted behavior is not illegal. If you choose to act in a hateful manner, or speak that way, there may be consequences. Those consequences apply to the action. If you hate blacks and keep your mouth shut, you can eat all the soul food on Maxwell St that you want. -
I don't know about those particular arrestees, but there were 'more than a few' of the "Boogaloo Boys" that got arrested. White Supremacists who are trying to instigate a race war. They've been posting shit about it for some time now on various internet platforms. Not unlike Manson, I think they want to scare the white folks into thinking the 'scary black man' is going to come and burn their neighborhoods down, tiggering white violence against blacks. Also not unlike Manson, their 'plan' is a twisted and flawed fantasy that simply won't work.

SCOTUS says federal law protects LGBTQ workers from discrimination
wolfriverjoe replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
Again, nope. Discriminating against a group because of their sexual orientation is just that. Discrimination. Refusing service to an individual who routinely uses hateful and bigoted speech is not discrimination. It's refusal based on your choice of words and/or actions. -
It seems like most of the ones arrested for serious stuff (looting & arson) are white. The guy who was arrested for torching the police precinct in Minneapolis. They guy who was arrested for torching the courthouse in Nashville. The three arrested for torching a nutrition store in St Paul. The woman arrested in Madison for arson. Now, the woman arrested in Seattle for burning up 5 cop cars: https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/washington-state-woman-arrested-accused-of-setting-5-police-vehicles-ablaze-in-george-floyd-riots?fbclid=IwAR10sHezb_RqsIG9rek04bh2ye2iRVCVX0T2nWUE_AzQrw1uDFj-uBwc7NQ

Don't forget his 'buddies in the SpecOps world' and his 'contacts at CIA'. And all the 'backchannel comms' he has. -
SCOTUS says federal law protects LGBTQ workers from discrimination
wolfriverjoe replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
He's not discriminating against you because of your sexual orientation (hetero). He's refusing you service because of your bigotry and hatred. There's a difference. -
Nah. His "Soyboy" & "Soymalia" comments make it pretty clear he's at home with the Proud Boys. Absolutely fucking hilarious that he's so ignorant of history that he thinks the Nazis were socialist... Because they were the 'National Socialist Party'.
-
Your understanding of history, of the "Rebellion" that you love so much is sadly lacking. And it's kinda funny. Call people 'savages' (or worse). Treat them like that (or worse). Then act all put out when they fight back.

Trump gave the commencement address at West Point. He had trouble holding a glass of water, needing two hands at one point. He badly mumbled & slurred his words. I was unaware of General "MacGarthur". He could barely walk down a ramp. Of course, he had to tweet about it. He claimed it was a 'long and steep' ramp, and that it was slippery (note the lack of slippage by the guy walking next to him). And, if you scroll down a bit, you can see yet another thing Obama does waaaaaaay better than Trump. Walking.

How about some good news for a change!!
wolfriverjoe replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
You'd be surprised. -
Because 'undergoing treatment at a mental health facility' doesn't automatically revoke one's rights. However, being charged with a felony does.

How horrible the pandemic was in the US compared to the rest of the world. Massive deficits. Probable economic depression. Russia taking over most of Eastern Europe. China taking over much of Asia. Iran having nukes. Federal judges taking away the rights of the dispossessed, giving huge advantages to government and big business (not all on Trump, McConnell is behind a lot of that). Even if he was removed tomorrow, much of this is a strong possibility. But hey, MAGA.

Actually, it's the 'false equivalence' technique. You know, 'there are very fine people on both sides', although only one of the 'sides' drove a car into a crowd and killed someone. The Trump corruption has gone so far beyond anything in modern history, there is NO equivalence. But, of course, the Trumpettes conveniently ignore that. The author neglected to mention the bowing and scraping he did in the joint press conference with Putin. Of course, afterwards, when Putin wasn't there, he talked tough, pretending he didn't do what he had just done. Pick your own source: https://www.google.com/search?q=Trump+press+conference+Putin&oq=Trump+press+conference+Putin&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l3.8478j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Or the way Trump elevated KJU's status. Essentially ensuring that North Korea will never give up it's nukes. Calling a murderous despot a 'great guy' and fawning all over him. Giving him the prestige of a one-on-one sit down with the President of the US.

Nah. He just makes ridiculous claims. He never posts any pictures to support them. Real ones or fake ones.

He's taking advantage of you. You are letting him. His suicide threat was most likely manipulation. However, if it was serious, maybe he should be locked up in a mental institution. For his own safety (if he tries it as a threat, call the authorities). He sounds like he may be an alcoholic. But, unless he wants to stop, nothing you say or do will have any effect. Al-Anon is for those affected by another's drinking. That may be something worth checking out. Good luck.
