    Q

And no outrage against the Trump family for the EXACT SAME BEHAVIOR.
  2. Well, I saw a house in my little city earlier this week. Lots and lots of Trump for Pres signs. The one that I found most troubling was the biggest. The 'tagline' under the names was "Make Liberals Cry Again." Apparently this guy (presumably) doesn't care about the country, or proper governance or any of that... Just hurting people he disagrees with. Sad. And way too common.
  3. How do you figure KJU as an idiot? He's held control of the DPRK for several years. He assassinated his own brother in Malaysia. It was pretty clear who was behind it, yet he got away with it. He got Trump to sit down one on one with him. He got a sitting US President to treat him as an equal. He's a long way from stupid.
  4. Guess. Who do you think might do something like that?

    Q

Out of all of those, which one would be an ethnic slur?
  6. Perhaps, but once the facts started coming out, it was pretty clear that HRC had done either very little or nothing wrong. The idea of her going to jail was from the debate with Trump. The whole 'lock her up' garbage came from Flynn. And the whole 'birther' crap was clearly crap from the beginning. Especially once it became clear that the idea originated with a HRC staffer. If there had been a remote chance that it was true, she would have run with it. Since she left it alone, it was clear there was no merit. None of that stopped the Trumpettes from latching onto both ideas. Trump is a hell of a good con man and the Trump faithful fall for his shit over and over and over again. OTOH, there's some pretty damning evidence against Trump. The Mueller report, contrary to what the Trumpettes like to claim, shows some pretty clear wrongdoings by Trump. Mueller never considered any charges or indictment against Trump because he was following the Nixon era finding that a sitting Pres cannot be indicted. Of course, Trump has expanded that to claim (falsely) that he cannot even be investigated, nor can his family or businesses that he operates. That's currently in front of the Supreme Court, because a New York prosecutor wants to subpoena records from Trump businesses. There are some strong indications that those records would result in indictments. While many of the Anti-Trump types are a bit 'breathlessly anticipatory' about it, I think they have a lot more reason to be so. "Unindicted Co-Conpsirator" can easily change once he's no longer a 'sitting President'. Not really. There have been quite a few prominent politicians convicted and sentenced. Hell, most of the recent governors of Illinois ended up in prison. So did a US Senator. Put him in a minimum facility, segregate him from the other prisoners, provide a couple rooms for the Secret Service to operate from. They would have a couple bodyguards close and on site (unarmed inside the prison) and more outside (armed). The only real differences would be the space they'd need in the prison (not all that much) and the fact that the 'up close' guys wouldn't be armed.
  7. Well, you're asking because you don't know and want to find out. Nothing wrong with that. It has been asked before and answered more than once. The reality is that it's not the best idea. Some of this may come across as a little harsh. I'm not trying to pile on you, but the consequences for making a bad decision on this are significant. What I was taught is to figure out what size reserve you need. Then the main. Then pick a rig that will hold those choices. Ok, what size canopy are you usually jumping right now? What's the smallest canopy you've ever jumped? Are you going to choose a reserve based on what size you currently fly/have flown? Or by what 'everyone' is putting in the mythical 'container that holds the size canopy you want'? Or 'holds the one that you will be jumping in the future'? Remember that if you are under your reserve, you are already in a bad situation. You will likely be at least somewhat stressed out, having just dealt with a mal. You will quite possibly be low, in a bad spot, trying to pick out a landing area that will be 'less than ideal'. You may have a minute (or less) to figure out how that particular canopy flies and lands (this is why demoing a reserve as a main is a really good idea). Personally, I jump a 170 main, loaded fairly low. And a 176 reserve. And, while in theory, any given container can hold 3 sizes (the one it's designed for, one bigger, one smaller), it's not really all that good of an idea. Trying to overstuff a container is not good for the rig. Over stuffing it stretches the seams, pulls on the grommets and bends the stiffeners. Do it for too long and you will end up needing expensive repairs. A low bulk main can alleviate some of this, but it's not going to change the size of the reserve the rig can hold. And yes, a low bulk reserve can help that too. Too small and the canopy is not held very well. It can shift around, or the pin may be too loose. Some folks get away with a too small main by having a 'pillow' installed to make the main pack tray a bit smaller. Not the best idea, but it can be made to work. Never did it myself. How fast are you planning on down sizing (both in time and jump numbers)? How many jumps are you planning on doing this year (next year, ect)? Why do you want to downsize? Are you aware of BillVon's downsizing checklist (in the Safety articles)? Are you aware of Brian Germain's downsizing chart and accompanying article (sticky in Canopy Control forum)? The simple reality is that I don't need to know the answers to any of these questions. It's not going to be me under the canopy you choose. But these are all questions you should have a good answer to before you make any purchases.
  8. Maybe, maybe not. Did the tow vessel not get clear? Did the missile lock on it when it shouldn't have? We'll likely never find out for sure, but it wouldn't suprise me a whole lot to hear that the tow vessel had gotten well clear, and that the missile locked on, tracked and hit it when it shouldn't have. One problem with 'smart' weapons is that they aren't all that smart.
  9. Yeah, but he had a 'Jew Accountant'. So that made it all ok (we really need a sarcasm font).

    Q

You forgot about the ethnic slur. Nobody calls Trump "John", although given his prediliction for whores, it would be rather apt.
  11. There's also the reality that racism wasn't hidden back then. It was socially acceptable to, say, stand on the steps of a school and proclaim that no black person will ever walk through these doors. That sort of thing went out of fashion for a long time. But it never went away. One thing the Mango Mussolini did was give those people permission to climb out of their caves and crawl out from under their rocks and give voice to their hatred & bigotry. Those people who were utterly enraged by the idea that one of 'those people' was in the White House. Its one of the reasons he has such strong approval from a dedicated minority.
  12. Really? I was to young to actually remember it, but I know what happened. The rule of law was still in place. While it wasn't fully available to many minorities, the idea that certain politicians were completely above the law wasn't accepted. It happened (Ted Kennedy comes to mind), but it wasn't flaunted. Voting rights were being promoted and advanced, not clamped down upon. While Johnson was pretty much a piece of garbage, he didn't give the country to a foreign power. Or put totally incompetent people and family members in postions of power (McNamara not withstanding). There are quite a few smart people who see what's going on as comparable to what happened shortly before the Civil War, the gilded age before the turn on the 20th century, or the Hoover administration right before the Great Depression. Right now, there are a very few very, very, very rich people who are doing whatever they can to control the country. McConnel's Senate has put more of their people in federal judgeships than any in history. The suppression of voting rights is worse than any time since the Civil Rights era (maybe worse). The idea that the President is not accoutable to the law is very frightening. He thinks he can do whatever he wants. To withhold vital supplies from states (and even confiscate them) unless the governor is 'nice' to him. To tell the head of the FBI to shut down a criminal investigation, then fire him if Trump doesn't get what he wants. It's all pushing us to the edge of a real collapse. Toss in the pandemic and anything can happen.
  13. Thanks for an honest answer. But I have to ask: How do you not see Trump as far, far worse than any 'career politician'? You say "I know who he is more than any other politician", yet ignore the destruction he is bringing on the basic institutions of ths country. One of the scariest things he's currently doing is dismantling the intelligence community. He's appointing sychopants who are pretending that Russia didn't interfere with the election. Basically opening the door for Putin to do it again. He's also systematically dismantling the oversight capabilities of various parts of the government. When the stimulus package was being put together, he was asked about 'oversight of the money going to corporations'. His response was that HE would over see it. The idea of the guy who was barred from running his own charitable foundation becuase of misuse of funds overseeing the disbursment of billions of dollars of the taxpayer money would be laughable... But he was serious. How can you find this behavior acceptable?
  14. You are correct. Unfortunately, you've hitched your horse to someone who has way to much ego, far more than he needs for 'survival', and who is spiritually bankrupt.
  15. Oh yes. As the Newsweek article notes, Jugallos aren't known for their 'healthy behavior.' Likely a decrease in amputated pinkie fingers too. This incident happend a few years back, about 30 miles from me: https://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/news/2016/09/06/suamico-man-cut-off-womans-finger-machete/89924554/
  16. I think a large part of that is situational. The pandemic has the attention of the whole world. Not a whole lot else is being talked about anywhere. The US has the largest number of cases, the most deaths. By far. Trump has made it worse. By far. He's also made it about him. Mostly in a negative way. His denial of it being a problem at the beginning, his blatant cronyism with federal supplies, his absolutely moronic pronouncements. Even the 'open up' protests can be traced back to him. The organizers of them (the ones behind the scenes) are Trump campaign donors for the most part. Koch bros, DeVos, many others. There's still some intelligent discussion. You just have to block out the trolls & idiots (often a '2 for 1').
  17. Flynn also said he lied when he pled guilty. To a judge. I don't think he was under oath at the time, so it's not perjury, but it's at least contempt of court. Edit to add: Wasn't Flynn's guilty plea part of a 'plea deal'? That is, he agreed to plead guilty in exchange for other charges being dropped? I highly doubt that the "Justice Dept" of the Mango Mussolini would go back and reinstate those dropped charges, but that would be really funny.
  18. How about the Insane Clown Posse? They cancelled the "Gathering of the Juggalos". ...ICP said they didn't want to risk any Juggalo lives, but the festival would return in 2021! "[T]he bottom line is simply that we REFUSE to risk even ONE Juggalo life by hosting a Gathering during these troubling times,"... To make it clear, the Insane Clown Posse is being more responsible, and cares more about the people than the President of the United States. https://www.newsweek.com/insane-clown-posse-icp-gathering-juggalos-2020-canceled-coronavirus-1499837
  19. So you don't think the activity of humans, the dumping of billions of tons of CO2 into the atmsophere is what's causing it? I agree that reversing it is going to be virtually impossible, but I don't disagree that we are causing it. Similar to acid rain (shut down and most of the damage has repaired itself), the hole in the Ozone Layer (again, CFCs reduced to the point that the Ozone Layer is coming back mostly), lead in the air (unleaded gas fixed that almost overnight) and smog in the major cities (not gone, but seriously improved). I think that the scientists are correct, that we are causing it, but that overall, we're going to ignore it until it's too late. Then we (humanity as a whole, I'll be long gone) will be screwed.
  20. Yes. They were slimeballs too. If any one came around with younger girls, the parents were warned not to let the kids get to close to 'that guy'.
  21. He's too good at finding all the lies that pretend AGW doesn't exist to be 'stupid'. He's very good at arguing his points. Even the blatantly false ones. Also, his posts have excellent grammar & spelling.
  22. Out of curiosity, do you believe that AGW is really happening? You may have said one way or the other in the past, I can't remember. That the earth is getting warmer, that human activity is the cause, and that it's going to get worse? Not trying to play 'gotcha', just wondering. You can believe that AGW is real and still be against the "New Green Deal".
  23. Oh, piffle. Retracting a statement would essentially be an admission that Trump was wrong. That he made a mistake. That will NEVER happen. The WaPo has changed it's tune about the flu & Covid. I don't know if they've 'officially' retracted the story comparing the flu to Covid, but they've been publishing repeated stories about the realities of Covid. Same as all the other "Mainstream Media".
  24. First you ask Turtle to admit that he's wrong. Now you are asking Marc for sources of his drivel. C'mon man. You aren't that new.
  25. So people who ask you uncomfortable questions get accused of being 'bots'? Really? Phil & I have been on here for years. So have you.
