  1. New Zealand, South Korea, Australia, Germany. They took it seriously from the beginning. They are far closer to having it under control. Trump spent a month and a half pretending it 'would all go away'. We are now paying the price for his stupidity. We have 4% of the worlds population. We have something like 28% of the cases. The stupid people are going to make that price a lot higher.
  2. I would not be surprised. At all. In fact, as the 'post-opening' wave builds up, it may only take until the beginning of August (~2 months from now). As the Professor noted, the idiots & fools are ignoring the recommendations. Here in Wisconsin, the bars opened up the day the SC threw out the quarantine order. Now we're seeing bartenders testing positive. Over Memorial Day weekend, huge crowds descended on Lake Geneva. Its a BIG tourist attraction, bringing in people frm Illinois (still locked down). No 'distancing', no masks, no nothing. People said they were 'tired of being locked down'. And felt they shuld 'be able to decide for themselves what is and isn't safe'. Unfortunately, the virus doesn't care if peole are 'tired'. Nor does it allow 'deciding' on safety. It just infects whenever & whomever it can. We're just starting to see numbers going up. I think it will get very ugly in the next month.
  3. Well, it's not fake documents or currency. Or spells. This seems like a really good place for Concrete Rebound Hammer. Or maybe just an ordinary ball peen hammer.
  4. Did anyone else notice that while everyone is freaking out about Trump's idiotic tweets, the pushback from Twitter and all that crap, the death toll from Covid crossed the 100k mark? Coincidence?
  5. Losing. ID requirements mainly affect the poor. Elderly & minorities who are least likely to have ID in the first place and the hardest time getting it. And are more likely to vote D. Georgia stopped thousands from voting and likely gave the governor's office to the R candidate. They've been caught on tape saying (more or less) if everyone could vote, there's no way they could win.
  6. What does any of that have to do with the fact that Trump is committing Tax Fraud, and likely voter fraud, and violating a legally binding agreement? Forbes article that doesn't really mention the voter fraud: https://www.forbes.com/sites/peterjreilly/2020/05/08/could-donald-trumps-dock-battle-with-mar-a-lago-neighbors-cost-him-millions-in-new-york-taxes/#74dc1cb470cf He's changing the subject. Addressing a point that has nothing to do with the original claim of tax & voter fraud. Standard tactic of Trump supporters. I find it absolutely disgusting that the Rs are using claims of 'voter fraud' to disenfranchise so many people, while the majority of the fraud I know about was committed by... Republicans. Latest one was a mail carrier who changed mail in ballots. And got caught.
  7. Times have changed. Given that your situation is not quite standard, I would suggest getting in touch with the DZ (or maybe a couple of them) and seeing what their thoughts are.
  8. I think so. He's part of a DZ up in Canukistan that's sorta like a commune. Everybody owns it, but nobody owns anything specific. He puts in work, but doesn't get paid, and he doesn't have to pay for his jumps... All that sort of 'from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs' manifesto kind of stuff. Scary. My God. We REALLY need a 'sarcasm' font.
  9. So Biden thinks Twitter should be held responsible for Trump's rants? Great. I would guess that their reaction to that increased liablility would be very simple. When the Mango Mussolini tweets shit like 'kill Democrats' (a real post he re-tweeted), he gets banned. I'd love to see his reaction to getting banned from Twitter.
  10. #1 - I'm a capitalist, not a commie. I drive because I get paid to. #2 - I prefer 'tornado spawner', thank you very much.
  11. 'Cuz if a 'theory' won't stand up to the facts, then it's not 'perfectly good'.
  12. Sorry, Rob. There are NOT fewer trucks on the road right now (or for the past three months). Not in the US anyway. Freight demands are shifting around a bit, but the amount of trucks moving (and fueling, and parking at night, and loading & unloading) hasn't gone down enough to notice. One of the things the country really needs is the trucks to move and deliver freight. It would take only a few days for food, fuel and other essentials to run out if the trucks stopped moving. That would be 'bad'. I have been rather well assured that Ron's "SHTF" is not imminent, mainly because it isn't any easier to find a place to park at night, or any quicker in & out of the places I pick up and deliver to. Trucks are moving, freight is being delivered, supplies are getting where they need to be (sorry Ron).
  13. Oh, my fucking God. Please enlighten us on the "pallets of cash" to IRAN.
  14. Don't bet on it. The R base has gone 'full tilt Alt-Right.' Look at who else they have put up as candidates. Rey Moore is probably the worst/best example but he's only one of a lot of extreme right wing candidates to have made it through the primary process. McConnell has pretty much sold the R party to the Alt right for the power to control the country. And so far, he's done a damned good job of it. Short of a full on revolt (which there are whispers of), there will not be any major R candidates with 'a brain and a willingness to compromise'.
  15. Fine. Please quote the entire statement Trump made when he called Nazis & KKK 'very fine people'. I heard it in real time and could barely believe it. I still find it hard to believe how many of his supporters either ignore it completely or pretend it was taken out of context.
  16. Disclaimer: Not an instructor, but my DZ does 'tandem to AFF' training, that also includes tunnel time. They do the tandems before AFF because it allows the instructor to have more control over the student. Keep in mind that tandem was originally conceived as a 'dual instruction' tool. It's morphed into a carnival ride, but the value for instruction is still there. My DZ has the student take the First Jump Course, then do 2 tandems with an instructor who is also AFF rated. The student has objectives to meet and tasks to accomplish (arch, altitude awareness, pull, landing pattern ect). If they are able to do what they are tasked to do, they then do 10 minutes (I think) in the tunnel, This is also done with an AFF instructor. If the student passes all of this, the first AFF jump is with one instructor. If the student does not do well, tandems may be repeated, more tunnel time may be done, or the first AFF jump can be done with two instructors. The DZO, S&TA and instructors are pretty happy with it. The students seem to be too.
  17. You seem to think he uses 'logic' in his posts. I have yet to see any indication of that.
  18. Well, on the flip side of that, a pastor in Cameroon was 'healing' Covid patients by laying hands on them. He's now dead. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8335123/Cameroon-pastor-healed-coronavirus-sufferers-laying-hands-dies-Covid-19.html Apparently his followers refused to allow police to take his body. They were praying for his ressurection, so they didn't want him to be buried. From the story: 'Now that he is dead, I do not know how the people that he was laying hands on will be healed.' Ummm... They won't?
  19. Don't be so sure. It 'confirms' what he wants to be true. Therefore, it must be true.
  20. I came across an interesting article about transmission risks. It all boils down to how many individual virus particles you take in. A small amount over a longer time or a large amount over a shorter time. The amount depends on how much is expelled and proximity. The author looked at several actual transmission events. https://www.erinbromage.com/post/the-risks-know-them-avoid-them
  21. I've seen a couple stories about various places that refuse to close losing their licenses. Bars lose their liquor license, barbers and cosmetiologists lose their license, that sort of thing. And then you get morons like this, who put people into danger, and clearly illustrate why these orders are in place to begin with: https://time.com/5837829/new-york-barber-covid-19/

    Q

Hi Jerry, One of the 'fun' parts about the primary system as it is currently set up is that it tends to favor candidates who are 'out there'. Many mainstream voters don't bother voting in an 'unimportant' election, while the 'extremist types' do (this happens on both ends of the political spectrum). In the case of a very strong incumbent, it becomes even more of an issue. In this case, the Rs knew full well that their candidate wouldn't win, no matter who it was, so they didn't bother. Which makes the 'wingnut' vote all the more powerful (a couple of assumptions on my part here).
  23. As a 'kinda funny' story about HCQ & Covid 19, here's an intersting case: https://www.newsweek.com/wisconsin-woman-who-took-hydroxychloroquine-nearly-2-decades-contracts-coronavirus-how-can-i-1505575?fbclid=IwAR0KJtxmyt10EqU-2rQuKY2szEi-5zfM8ag_XPPnLjX6swRj1ijnZtnx8y8 A woman with lupus has been taking it for nearly 2 decades has Covid 19. Admittedly, only once case. Anecdote is not data. The "kinda funny" part is how pissed she is that she got sick. Apparently she thought it would keep her safe.
  24. She chose to ignore a lawful order. I'd bet pretty heavily that she was warned, and most likely more than once before the citation was issued. Actions have consequences.
  25. The people that I know that own electric cars simply plug them into a 110 outlet (standard household current) when they get home. Generally the cars fully charge overnight. Except for a few special occasions, that charge is easily enough to get them through the day. They tout the time saved not having to go to a gas station as an advantage (not having to get out of the car and stand out in the cold in the winter is nice too).
