And, not surprisingly, the fat idiot left out a 'minor' point: After it happened, the government stepped in and took steps to protect it's citizens. SOCIALISM!!!!! Even back in the 1800s. Quote is from Heather Cox Richardson's FB post.

There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998
wolfriverjoe replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
That's exactly why it's a threat to all life on earth. India & China are already 'getting frisky'. What would happen if a billion Indians decided it was too hot to survive and moved northeast... Into China? Or north into Pakistan? -
Study associates stupidity with stupid consequences

Nah, He's just gullible enough to fall for the Russian propaganda machine. Not terribly surprising. Most Trumpettes, gullible enough to fall for Trump's con fall for the con backing him. Barnum was right. -
Why? Were you afraid that more Saudi Arabians were going to hijack airplanes and fly them into downtown Cleveland? My then-wife was afraid of that very thing (a terrorist attack on our town, not Cleveland). It took a hell of a lot of arguing to finally convince her that we were very low on the target list. And that there were going to be a lot of measures put in place to stop the same attack from happening again. Of course, the terrorists then changed up (shoe bomb, underwear bomb, 2 part liquid bomb, ect). But overtaking the plane by simple force and using the plane as a weapon never was tried again. Not seriously. I saw the 2nd plane hit. At that moment, I realized that it was an attack. A 'not-so-smart bomb', if you will. I also understood that we were going to see some very significant changes in air travel. And that it likely woudn't happen again. All of the shut downs, both air travel & border crossings, all of the precautions, all of the 'fears' were precisely what the attackers wanted. In part because this is an invisble threat. You can't see a virus. You can't put a face on it. You can't blame a large group of people who have nothing to do with it for it. Trump is trying to when he blames the Chinese, but very few are falling for it. The problem with the 'local numbers thing' is that there's too much travel. Too many people are in one place today, another tomorrow. Myself included. I've seen folks in a small town in northern(ish) WI refuse to take precautions, because there are 'only a few' cases in their county. But it's a big tourist area. People come from all over. Places like Chicago, Milwaukee & Green Bay (Milwaukee County & Brown County - Green Bay - are the #1 & #2 for cases). So the chance that there will be infected tourists coming to visit is almost certain. Yet they don't think there's a problem.

Why not? Don't black people have the same 2nd A rights as white people? When the "open up" protesters did it, I thought it was pretty stupid. Not that they didn't have the riht to do it, just that prancing around with rifles over their shoulders was far more about looking like a 'badass' than actually expecting to use the guns. When the ones in Michigan entered the Capitol building and threatened the lawmakers, I thought they were out of line. I don't know exactly what the laws are in MI, but in WI, the Capitol is 'posted prohibited'. However, their 'peaceful but armed' protests didn't get attacked by the cops. No riot police, no tear gas, no rubber bullets, none of that. After so many of the non-violent BLM protesters were attacked without provocation (lots were, do your own search - start with Washington DC), I was a bit surprised that none of them followed the Alt-Right technique of being armed to the teeth when marching. And Ron, having your hand on your gun in the face of people who aren't doing anything violent could be considered a provocation (depends a lot on the overall circumstances & GA laws), However, I'd love to see you pull out a pistol in the face of that many armed opponents.

The investigation continues. Depends on if you believe the cops or the McCloskey's attorney. The cops say they executed a search warrant and seized the rifle he was holding. Their second attorney (no reason why they are no longer being represented by the first one) says there was no search and they voluntarily gave the rifle to the cops. Apparently the pistol the wife was holding was given to their first attorney. A lot about this isn't super clear in the story, but hey, it's an ongoing investigation. You do understand that the whole "Biden/Ukraine" story is Russian propaganda, right? -

As opposed to you ignoring Trump's criminal conduct? There are lots of things I don't like about Biden. But I doubt he would sell out to the Russians. -
President Putin Put a Bounty on US Troops
wolfriverjoe replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, I don't remember Brezhnev, Andropov, Chernenko or Gorbachev singing the praises of Reagan during that time. While I'm not super thrilled at what Putin did, I can't really blame him for doing it. He is putting Russia's interests first. Unlike Trump, who is NOT putting the interests of the US first. By sucking up to Putin like he's doing, he's putting himself, his own interests and Putin ahead of the country, its soldiers and citizens. That is treason. -
That's very true. But what is happening with new cases? That's the big question. Here in WI, were seeing a huge spike. Counties that were under a hundred cases a month ago are now over 300. Daily new infections bottomed out in the mid 200s a few weeks ago. Friday saw 954. 7 day average is well above 600. My county is now well over 600 total and will likely top 700 early this week. This is not going away. The only 'ray of hope' is that deaths are not climbing the same way new cases are. Nobody knows for sure (like so much about this disease), but it's likely a combination of younger people getting sick (average age has dropped a lot), better treatment (in part experience in treating it, in part getting people in the hospital when they are earlier in distress), and increased testing finding more sick people.

Midway through AFF - scared, excited and confused

#1 - Understand that what you are feeling is perfectly normal. #2 - Read the Duck cartoons: http://tailotherat.blogspot.com/2011/08/sky-diving-duck-ii-chicken-of-sky.html -
Yeah, 265k total cases, over 8k new yesterday. 3200 dead, 80 more yesterday. Maybe they are starting to realize that it's not 'just going to go away'. And that the responsibility for the magnitude of the disaster can be laid directly at Trump's door.

Might? Pfft. He wants schools to re-open. He wants society to reopen. He dismissed masks. He ignores the experts. All because he thinks it will 'go away'. We're fucked. Really & truly.

George Soros, Soon to be Under Attack by RT, trump and GOP
wolfriverjoe replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
And, of course, the fact that Putin was funding the Taliban, geting US troops killed, all while Trump is trying to help him get back in the G7/G8 and get US sanctions lifted, is what these 'patriots' support. Please. You make me sick. 8645110320 -
I would suspect that the list of people who would like her silenced is rather long and distinguished. I would strongly suspect that there are people on it that have the connections and the ruthlessness, even though I doubt Trump is one (see below). While I don't doubt that Trump probably wants that to happen, I don't think he's quite stupid enough to do it (and expect to get away with it). Putin's vicious as all hell. He's good at it and he has a large group of people to make those sorts of things happen. While I don't doubt that Trump has a few goons and thugs on the payroll, murder is a big step up. There's no way Fauci could 'fall out of a window' and nothing happen. This isn't Russia.

Well, it's how people should behave. No penalties for violating it, IIRC. And I fully agree that burning it as a protest (or kneeling before it rather than standing at attention) are protected speech. I also agree that the 'blue line' flag is disgraceful. The 'clothes' thing is kinda funny. I can go either way, depending on the actual item. Mostly a personal 'taste' level thing. But the code is quite clear. It was largely a non-issue as long as I can remember... Until fall of 01. It then became very fashionable to 'be patriotic'. Or at least look like it. One of the funnier ones was the wearing of the 'flag shirt'. Abbie Hoffman wore one during the big protest against the Viet Nam war in DC (Forrest Gump did a nice job showing it). Hoffman was vilifed for 'desecrating the flag' (along with a host of other things). Yet there was a retired General (can't remember his name and a quick search came up empty) who led the Rolling Thunder motorcycle ride in DC while wearing the exact same shirt. He was lauded for his patriotism.

Ya know? A long time ago, I learned proper 'flag ettiquette'. I never cease to be amazed at how many so-called 'patriotic' Americans either don't know or don't care. https://www.legion.org/flag/code Pay particular attention to part 9, sec d, e, i & j.

Hi Jerry, No. I don't think Biden is the best available for the postion. I think several of the other potential D candidates would have made for a better president. There are a few Rs that would also make a better president than Biden. Obviously, they have zero chance of unseating Trump for the nomination, and unless I see a huge change in the fundamental behaviors of the party as a whole, I'm not voting for any R again. Ever. I think he will make for an adequate president. He will not be evil. I don't think he will be especially competent, but I think (hope) he will be smart enough to surround himself with smart people and then actually listen to them. Anything would be better than Trump. That 'anything' includes Biden. But that doesn't mean I prefer him. Just that he's better than the worst president (by a hyooooge margin) in the history of the country.
-
No. I'm going to vote against Trump, which means for Biden. As was noted a while ago, if it was Howdy Doody running, with Charlie Sheen as running mate, I'd vote for them. He was a Senator for a long time, and VP for 8 years. I've seen enough of him to know that I don't want him as pres. But, while he's old and infirm, not terribly smart, has supported stuff I'm strongly against, and made some REALLY stupid statements (remember him during the "Ebola Panic"?), he's not evil. He actually seems to care about people. Trump is genuinely evil. And clearly cares about nobody but himself.
-
I don't think it will make a huge difference. The allegations are already out there. This would just be 'real' proof. His supporters won't believe it any more than they believe the 'Fake News'. They'd call it a 'Deep State' ploy, and say the records are faked. Yes, I think they are that stupid and gullible.

One thing I don't see that you've pointed out (I may have missed it): The proportion of the circle (globe) and the eagle. In the EGA, the globe is fairly large. The diameter of the globe is about the same as the height of the eagle. In the Nazi logo, the circle is much smaller. Maybe half the height. The proportions of the Trump symbol are virtually identical to the Nazi symbol. Nowhere near the Marine emblem.

Pfft. The serious discussion on this died maybe 9 or 10 years ago. Once it re-opened, there was maybe 15 or 20 posts that had halfway decent info, but then it descended into a fight between a couple folks, and a real douche who insisted that it was a certain person, but had nothing even resembling 'evidence'. After he was banned, he became a 'serial vandal' using sock puppet accounts. I do believe he's surpassed even John Rich for the 'Most Annoying Little Brat" title. How so? And who 'didn't want to find him?' There were a bunch fo mistakes made during the intitial search, but there's no indication that any of it was deliberate. The DNA on the tie was too degraded to get any data from. Same with the cigarette butts. Earl Cossey was the rigger who packed the rigs that were delivered to the plane. At least the airworthy ones. I would suggest reading the linked thread. On the first page, there's a link to the original thread that ended up getting locked. There's actually a LOT of very good and interesting info, although you have to ignore a couple of folks who insisted that their suspect was the real one.
