Wow. He blantantly and publicly refuses to obey a lawful order. That has consequences. Now he tears up the ticket he was given. Not 'the fine'. The citation. I hope he wrote down the court date. Failure to appear generally results in an arrest warrant (bench warrant) being issued. Typically, the bail for that warrant is the amount of the fine on the citation. Also, any business licence he may have will be suspended if he choses to ignore the citation. Gotta love how his buddy in the county government has started a GoFundMe to pay the fine.

The Flynn pardon is interesting. It's one of the few that I can think of where the President pardoned someone who committed a crime that furthered the interests of that particular President. Bush commuted Scooter Libby's sentence, similar to Trump commuting Stones. But those aren't pardons. One 'fun' part of that is that if Flynn is subpoenaed to testify, he can no longer 'claim the 5th' and refuse to testify. Could prove interesting before, say, a congressinal inquiry.

Oh hell yeah. She's turned into a hell of a Trumpette. Also a Qcumber. And a Scientologist. Clearly her critical thinking skills are just awesome. -
Yup. Saw that on FB. As was asked - Who the hell is current on a DC-9 these days?

Ya know? I was thinking about including the Forrest Gump quote. It really fits. -

Who thinks Covid is a hoax? Who thinks Q is real? Who thinks Trump won the election? Who thinks there's widespread voting fraud? Who has fallen for Trump's con job? Who thinks HRC had anything to do with Benghazi? -
for which crimes, if any, should Trump be prosecuted?
wolfriverjoe replied to SivaGanesha's topic in Speakers Corner
Yeah, maybe. But the more I think about it, the more I doubt it will happen. The idea of resigning to allow Pence to pardon him is a bit more 'planning & thinking & shit' than he's shown ANY ability or willingness to do. It was pointed out that lots of his supporters thought that his claims of fraud and all that were part of some sort of 'master plan'. Which goes against all the evidence that he's NEVER had any real plan at all, for anything. Ever.- 156 replies

Yeah, except he knows that accepting a pardon means admitting wrongdoing. He learned that when he pardoned Arpaio.- 156 replies

I wasn't aware of that, but I'm not surprised. I'd still like to see him say it again, to make it really clear. To contrast himself with the Orange Idiot and "lock her up!"- 156 replies

Somewhat random thought: I'd like to see Biden appoint a serious, dedicated, well respected professional as AG. And when he gets nominated, I'd like to see Biden say something to the effect of: 'I'm appointing (insert name here) because he (or she) is a long time professional, known and respected by both friend and foe. My only order will be 'enforce the law'. I won't say to go after this person or to leave that person alone. I won't interfere in any prosecution. My only expectation is that he (or she) will prosecute those who commit crimes to the appropriate extent. To show no favor in any direction based on position, skin color or wealth.' The idea that Trump should be left alone because his supporters might make trouble is really stupid. First off, as noted above, they're mostly a bunch of posers, wannabes & bullies. Very few of them will actually stand up and fight. Those few that will should suffer the consequences of their actions. The FBI is pretty good at that sort of thing. Second, it sets the precedent that those who make a lot of threats will be allowed to intimidate the government. The 'will of the people' should only go so far, and preventing prosecution of actual crimes is way beyond where it should be.- 156 replies

Well, she's apparently going to continue to file baseless and futile lawsuits. As a "private citizen".

They are. The 24 hour news cycle has the latest discoveries out the minute they're released. Of course, because of the way science works, they often contradict or correct previous reports. So the morons will claim "They don't know what they're talking about". If you want to see the world 'combat this scourge', then the 'citizens' need to follow what the scientists are saying (and to a large degree have said the whole time): Wear a mask. Stay home. Don't come into close contact with other people. But because people are stupid, they don't do those things. They refuse to wear masks. They go out to restaurants & bars. And the virus spreads. So the government has to step in and issue 'royal proclamations' to try to get the citizens to do what the scientists say. And, of course, the morons refuse. So the virus keeps spreading. A million new cases in the US in the last week. Of course, there are a few places where the government clamped down HARD at the very beginning. Shutting everything down. Telling people to stay home and enforcing it. Tracking down the people who were sick and those that got exposed. Kinda funny how those places aren't seeing huge spikes (or any cases at all in a couple places).

I can't think of anyone on here who fits the description of "communist", as it is properly defined. Not that the "Alt-Right" types actually understand that definition. Or properly apply it. -
I don't understand. It sounds like it's a county airport, with a county board approved "authority board". And even private airports are subject to FAA oversight, getting an official "identifier", following various rules/procedures. Some even get federal money. And that is the big catch. If they've taken federal money, they have to follow the rules. A lot of times, the 'good 'ole boys' forget or ignore those rules.
-
The first thing I'd do would be to contact USPA & AOPA. If this airport receives ANY federal funding, there are rules to shut it down. Those two groups know the rules quite well and will know what both you and the politicians can (and can't) do.

Bingo. Tax evasion, embezzlement, fraud. I think the statute of limitation has expired on the crimes related to Trump U. But that would have been a nice one.- 156 replies

for which crimes, if any, should Trump be prosecuted?
wolfriverjoe replied to SivaGanesha's topic in Speakers Corner
It kinda depends on what 'possible political crimes' you mean. Conflict of interest, using the office to line his own pockets, collusion with Russia, illegal business deals in China, all of those are crimes. And allowing him to simply walk away without consequences will cause nothing but MORE discord. And embolden others to pull the same shit. Those wounds are wide open right now. I happen to believe that indicting, prosecuting and imprisoning Trump and his kids would do a LOT to heal those wounds. There will always be those who deny his crimes, who continue to believe his lies, to continue to allow themselves to be conned. Based on the last 5 years, that number is higher than I would have ever guessed. But since even Tucker Carlson is starting to see through his lies about the election, maybe there's some hope. Having him convicted of his crimes, with all of the evidence he's tried to hide out in the open, would hopefully convince at least some of the Trumpettes. And he'd be hard pressed to conduct a campaign from behind bars.- 156 replies

Hi Jerry, Biden shouldn't have to 'go after' (or 'not go after') Trump. See below. Bingo. The federal prosecutors are the ones who decide to investigate or indict anyone. In fact, they are already investigating "Trump Inc", and have a variety of subpoenas that have been filed, that Trump was trying to avoid. The general idea is (or was) that the Attorney General and Justice Department should be as independent as possible. Appointed by the President, but (in theory) not subject to the whims of the Chief Executive. That's why Barr's attempt to subvert justice by interfering in Flynn's guilty plea was so abhorrent to many 'court watchers'.- 156 replies

Well, I'm going to guess that Trump wasn't super-duper happy with the meeting. From Heather Cox Richardson on FB:
