Hi Jerry, I have a funny feeling that Trump's definition of 'the right thing' and your definition (not to mention mine and a whole lot of other people's) are not quite the same thing.
-
Nope. As I noted, it's a 'seen on FB'. Not mine. So you can't steal it from me.
-
Seen on FB - So... if you pay a bribe to get a pardon, can the pardon include the bribe-paying, or does that require a separate pardon?

The truly sad part about this is that election officials take voter fraud pretty seriously. And they take a great deal of pride in the fact that they conduct elections that are free & fair. All of Trump's claims (and those of the Trumpettes) have been shown to be false. NONE of them have any proof. Election officials are asking for proof, and are willing to undertake investigations of valid claims. From the story I linked a few posts back:

Then why is Trump complaining that Barr didn't look very hard? Is Trump so stupid he believes the 'fake news story'? Then why are Flynn and the rest of the morons demanding that Trump 'suspend the Constitution and impose Martial Law'? Fortunately, the military leadership has made it VERY clear that they are loyal to the country, not the idiot in the White House. And that they take their oath to "defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States" seriously.
-
What makes you think I can't?
-
I'm an adult white male. They aren't likely to come for me. Most of them think I'm one of them.
-
Nope. Nazi's are the ones running around waving Swastika flags. Like actual Nazi's in Charlottesville. You know, the ones Trump called "very fine people". Or the Proud Boys. The ones Trump told to "Stand back and stand by". Or the ones calling for Trump to 'suspend the Constitution and impose Martial Law'. And well over 40% of the ballots were in favor of this shit.
-
Well, the last 5 years showed how easily a con man who knows how to push the right buttons can get a large segment of a disaffected and angry population to fall for a line full of hatred and bigotry. I was rather surprised at how easily the Alt-Right went 'full Nazi'.

Pfft. They may want to do that. But I doubt it will happen. Even if the Ds take the Senate (with the GA runoffs), I doubt they'll be willing to spend the political capital to get it done. They have other priorities, and not losing control will be one of them. When Obama couldn't even get a gun control bill onto the Senate floor in 2013, it was pretty clear that it wasn't likely to happen. Ever. Even though the NRA is in serious trouble, politicians aren't likely to forget 1996. Gun owners have a lot of political clout for the same reasons old folks do. They pay attention to what they care about and they vote.

That's fucking hilarious. George Floyd was murdered at the end of May. There were no BLM protests, Antifa or calls to 'defund the police' in March or April. The sales skyrocketed in early spring because a LOT of people were freaking out about the pandemic. Fears about social unrest. Ron's "SHTF". When gun stores were declared 'essential', there were huge lines at them. But in March & April. I won't deny that I was concerned about societal breakdown. If the death rates had been higher, if the spread had been wider, if a few other things had gone a lot worse, it could have gotten very ugly. And, of course, the NRA was 'crying wolf' again about how Biden & Harris were going to come and 'take the guns away'. So, as it became more and more clear that Biden was likely to win, sales went way up.

Haven't seen it here, so here goes. Michael Flynn, who pled guilty to lying to the FBI about meeting illegally with Russian diplomats and was pardoned by Trump has made an interesting statement. He wants Trump to suspend the Constitution, silence the media, declare "Martial Law" and have the military oversee a national revote. Really. That meets the definition of 'Sedition'. Of course, the military has shown quite clearly that their loyalty is to the country. And they take the oath to 'Uphold the Constitution" is something they take seriously. On a somewhat similar note, WI Senator Ron Johnson, a staunch Trump stooge, has admitted privately that he knows full well Biden won, but is refusing to admit it publicly because the Trumpettes are refusing to and he doesn't want to alienate them. https://thebulwark.com/my-call-with-ron-johnson-he-knows-biden-won-but-wont-admit-it/?fbclid=IwAR2x-e71jj0xNK6egtCeUrG8wJtln08oMBrtq3RKgoZHTPQLuBJkkkvlzjs The article is written by the former Republican party chair for Brown County (where Green Bay is located). In the article, he talks about how they discussed the R opposition to Trump: Funny how Johnson thinks that of the Lincoln project, yet is silent on the blatant con of Trumps 'election defense fund'.

Johns Hopkins Retracts Newsletter: "They Would Have Died Anyway"(?)

Don't forget that some of us (including you) have a memory. Someone's past posting history has an effect on how any current post is interpreted. In this particular case, any ambiguity is going to be taken as 'Alt-Right' slanted. As in, Covid is a hoax, the deaths are way overblown, the scientists are conspiring to control us all, that sort of thing. Fun fact: CDC released an estimate of excess deaths from February to November in the US. 345,000. Woo hoo. Winning. -
Full face helmets without visors
wolfriverjoe replied to Nicovrnd's question in Questions and Answers
You should be able to remove the visor on any full face helmet. With a few caveats, they're all pretty good. The biggest difference is how they fit. For many folks, one brand fits more comfortably and better than another. It's a matter of matching the shape of the helmet to the shape of their head. It's a very individual preference. The only way to know for sure is to try a bunch of different ones on. -
Given his admiration of Putin & Kim Jong Un, I don't think "king" is what he wants to be.

Hi Jerry, Or when the president's personal attorney asked for one. On a slightly different note: Dan Rather on FB:

Yup. I was tired and in a hurry. I left out the part that, here in WI percentage of positive tests has gone up, while total test numbers went down over the holiday weekend (in part due to less people getting tests, in part due to some of the labs not processing tests that were sampled prior to the holiday). Europe may be seeing actual declines. They don't have a holiday at this time, and they have been imposing stricter measures to slow the spread. Those seem to be having a positive effect (ya know, less 'positive' tests is a positive effect). But here in the 'good ole USA', behaviors are pretty much unchanged. Some places are trying to impose stricter measures, but there's a hell of a lot of resistance. It doesn't help that those in charge, those imposing those restrictions, are completely failing to follow their own rules. Go figure. Also, lots of people are insisting they have the 'right' to gather as many family members together, unmasked while eating, up close and personal. Many will also find they have the 'right' to become sick. And to die.

Johns Hopkins Retracts Newsletter: "They Would Have Died Anyway"(?)

Ha. You said: How is that not spreading the 'disinformation'. -
Well, Sidney Powell has certainly "Released the Kraken" in another lawsuit. Apparently she claims that Biden received more than 100% of the vote in Edison County MI. Which is impossible for two reasons: 1- He can't get more votes than were counted. 2- There ISN'T an "Edison County" in Michigan. https://www.salon.com/2020/11/30/sidney-powells-new-lawsuit-claiming-election-fraud-cites-a-witness-from-a-place-that-doesnt-exist_partner/?fbclid=IwAR2jVHvTzQMGDv390ugM6OvLWi4LRV3XQw-jrKPibqdlkJNhh2aKkpaIT9Q So the "Kraken" is her level of stupidity? That seems to be pretty large.

I hate to tell you, but it's almost certainly a 'weird artifact'. At least here in the US. There was very little testing done over the holiday weekend*. So new positives dropped dramatically. They're already trending back up in Wisconsin. We set a new record for deaths today here. * - In Wisconsin, one of the strange aspects of this whole thing is how the testing gets turned into results (not sure how it happens in other places, but it may well be similar) . The tests are taken, then processed. That processing can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. Those processed tests are then released as results. Because of this, any 'positive results' released (say) today could come from a test taken any time in the last 2 weeks. So any sort of 'trend' that shows up in the test results has to take this into account. Also, some labs report test results 7 days a week, some only do it 5 (weekdays). So the numbers from the weekend are always lower than the weekdays. What makes it even 'funnier' is that the results are reported to the state in the evening, and the DHS releases them the next afternoon. So the numbers released on Monday are actually from Sunday night. So the 'low weekend numbers' are the ones released on Sunday & Monday. I have a FB friend who has been taking the state DHS numbers and putting them on paper as a series of graphs. The ability to spot trends on those graphs vs trying to follow the daily numbers is amazing.

I'm guessing the 'pre-emptive' part is pardoning him before any charges are brought. I remember Nixon being pardoned for 'any and all crimes'. It was never tested in any court of law. I don't think any pardon could be applied for a 'future crime'. I can't see it passing any sort of legal challenge. The idea of a "license to commit crimes" sounds good in the movies. But this is real life. I got a funny feeling that this will put a lot of this to a fair amount of testing.
