  1. It may be brewing, but it almost certainly won't come to pass. I said this somewhere else (maybe?) in the last day or so. Last summer, when Trump wanted to use federal troops against US civilian protesters, the top military officials (not appointed civilians) said no. They had sworn an oath to the COUNTRY and the Constitution, not to the President. Despite what Trump and his minions might want to do, I would expect to see the military refuse. And perhaps even see the Secret Service arrest him. The Service is incredibly loyal to the President, but that sort of loyalty only goes so far. Trump has treated them like shit. If he does something really stupid, I wouldn't be surprised to see them stop it.
  2. To a degree, you're right. But Trump is making baseless claims about fraud. The FBI has repeatedly said there's not fraud (FBI Director is a Trump appointee). EVERY lawsuit claiming election fraud has been dismissed. EVERY ONE. Your question about Republicans being denied access to the vote counting was proven to be false. Trump's own lawyers admitted in court that the R observers were there (which is why that suit was dismissed). This level of BLATANT lying is something the media has aided & abetted for the past 4 years. They've finally grown some balls and said (more or less): "We aren't going to be a vehicle for your lies any more". That's not 'censorship', that's responsible journalism.

Wow. That's amazing. Trump hasn't conceded. AG Barr is going against protocols by launching an 'investigation' before any states have officially certified the election results. SecState Pompeo is pretending Trump will win. Trump's minions are refusing to allow Biden to begin the transition. Yet the "Deep State" [DS] has managed to shut up Q. It's a damned shame they can't 'De-Platform' all the idiots that want to pretend Trump won. Although, the 'Main Stream Media' has started to show some integrity and is refusing to air the blatant lies that the Mango Mussolini and his Chief Obfuscator are spewing.
  4. There's a huge advantage in having 'oppositional voices' in any discussion. If for no other reason that the fact that they point out 'inconvenient' facts and force the discussion to deal with reality. A 'real world' example is the run-up to the Iraq war in 02. Bush, Cheney & Rumsfeld decided that there was going to be a war, and that we could & would win handily. Anyone who questioned the presence of WMDs or the idea that it would turn into a huge quagmire was silenced. In a couple cases, very aggressively. If those voices had been valued, if those in charge had been forced to address those concerns, we may have been able to save thousands of US lives (hundreds of thousands of Iraqi lives) and BILLIONS of dollars.
  5. Well, as the saga unfolds in the courts, the guy who bought the rifle for the (underage) Rittenhouse to use is now facing some fairly serious charges. https://abc7chicago.com/kyle-rittenhouse-shooting-kenosha-protest/7808894/ All of the gun rights folks like to claim that 'criminal use of a gun should be punished to the fullest extent of the law' (I include myself in that). As it notes in the story, 'Straw Purchase' is a crime. A Straw Purchase that results in death is much more serious.
  6. It's sad, not funny. A pathetic attempt by the Trumpettes to spin the narrative, again. And it's failing. The media is finally calling them on it. Asking for real evidence, some sort of proof. And there's nothing. Nothing but vague allegations. https://thehill.com/homenews/sunday-talk-shows/525030-abcs-stephanopoulos-spars-with-sd-governor-on-voter-fraud
  7. Yes. It will be colder at altitude. Remember that you will only be in it for a minute or so. Add a couple layers. Avoid anything that adds a snag potential. Hoodies with strings are a bad idea. Generally, I'll wear a thermal undershirt, a normal T shirt and a sweatshirt (non-hooded). Plus a jumpsuit over that. I wear gloves on every jump, so that's not an issue. Beware of thick gloves, you need a fair amount of dexterity. I like the advice that you should be able to tie your shoes wearing the gloves. It actually won't be as bad as you might think. I'm a bit of a 'weather wuss' (for Wisconsin). I'll jump as long as it's above freezing on the ground. Which may mean as cold as -20F at 14k. It's somewhat cold in the plane, and when the door opens and that really cold air comes in, it's pretty cold. Then the green light goes on and it's 'game on'. I am so focused on the jump that I don't feel the cold until after I open. Then it's cold again. I land, run into the heated hangar & pack. By then I've warmed up enough that I can go again. Some folks will jump down into the teens. Which is even colder up top. There's one guy who holds the record for most consecutive months with at least one jump without clothes, in Wisconsin. Something over 10 years. Yes. Really.
  8. Lots of people use the logic that 'since we can't explain it, it must be "God did it".' You aren't but others do. Not interested in the video on Black Holes. It has nothing to do with the fact that your assumptions are based on the idea that we actually understand what's going on in the brain and can understand how 'consciousness' operates. We don't and we can't.
  9. Hi Jerry, Thank Google. I knew it was a Constitutional amendment, but I had to look up which one.
  10. Right. The 22nd Amendment. Much more than 'congress deciding to do something'. A real amendment to the Constitution. And yes, two terms or 10 years total. LBJ could have run again in 68, had he chosen to do so. He just chose to not 'run if nominated, or serve if elected'.
  11. Nope. Not even close. "Material Science" cannot fully define 'consciousness'. Let alone explain it. That doesn't mean there isn't a valid explanation for it (other than "God did it"), just that we don't know the explanation. And trying to explain 'morality' as a consciousness concept without understanding consciousness in the first place is foolish.

    Q

How have they been "shut down"? What happened to all of those "back channel comms" that you had? It sounds like they decided to just shut up because Trump lost and their narrative is clearly bullshit without him in office. Not that it wasn't complete bullshit before, but with Trump spouting the ridiculous crap he always did, it made it easier for fools to believe it. And you continue to fall for it.
  13. Yup. One thing he did was to declare his candidacy the day he was inaugurated. Doing so allowed him to use campaign funds to pay for his own legal expenses. Which was important for him, because he's so broke he can't pay for them himself.
  14. History not your strong suit? Look up Grover Cleveland. Theodore Roosevelt tried to do it too, but failed.
  15. Apparently not. Lots and lots of UN operations. Many folks think the UN is just a big clusterfuck (and there's a fair amount of justification for that), but there are a LOT of places that have UN troops in place to monitor peace agreements. As I noted above, Canadian troops have played a pretty big part in that for a while. One good reason is because many of the places they are deployed to have a long history of the military being used by the government to oppress the locals. Or the troops exploiting and abusing the locals in lieu of actual pay. Wiki list (OIF is not included): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_military_operations
  16. It won't be much of an endorsement if it comes from Danbury Minimum Security Federal Prison. That's one reason I would like to see him prosecuted for his crimes.
  17. Those are actions that should have resulted in his removal from office. Not all of them are crimes. But, as far as 'criminal acts' go: Michael Cohen went to prison. Trump was listed as an 'unindicted co-conspirator.' The payment to the porn star was considered an illegal campaign donation. The payment was embezzled from the Trump Foundation. The payment was disguised as lawyers fees, which were then taken as a deductible expense on the taxes. While the 'campaign donation' is not going to be something super simple to get a conviction on, the other two are pretty much open & shut. Fairly serious felonies. Then there are a variety of tax fraud, real estate fraud and bank fraud charges that the prosecutors in New York (federal, state and municipal) are all gathering a lot of evidence to prosecute. Trump has been fighting it for a long time. Most recently, he lost the court case where he tried to claim that the prosecutors couldn't investigate him (subpoena his tax records among other things) because he was president. His son has been dodging a subpoena for a deposition on one of these cases. All of this has been building for a while. The comparison to Nixon's pardon is not a very good one. Nixon was a slimeball, no doubt about it. But he didn't come anywhere near Trump's criminal behavior. Nixon resigned in disgrace. He knew full well that an impeachment trial in the Senate would have resulted in his expulsion from office. Trump, OTOH, is still trying to convince his moron followers that he should be declared the winner. There's an inscription on the Supreme Court. "Equal Justice Under the Law". Trump should face the same justice anyone else would. Not 'rich man's justice'.
  18. Apparently it was supposed to be a secret, and he's been appearing in public without a mask. 'Cuz it's all a hoax.
  19. And the Trumpettes pretended that meant he didn't have any support.
  20. Don't ignore the fact that Canadian troops comprise a large percentage of UN peacekeeping forces. 'Cuz you darned Canucks are such nice fellas, Eh.
  21. From Heather Cox Richardson: The election officials weren't 'keeping Republican observers from watching'. Trump was flat out lying. As he's done over and over in the past. And the gullible fools fall for it. Again.
  22. This has been discussed some in the past. It would be a hell of a good start, but don't forget how many people still voted for that idiot. I've said more than once that Trump is far more a symptom of a larger problem than the problem itself. The people that voted for him are either complete morons (given how many are Qcumbers, that's not an unreasonable assumption), gullible fools who still haven't figured out that he's a con man or truly evil people that admire his postions on women and minorities. In a different thread, it was claimed that Trump gave a voice to the disaffected. While there's a fair amount of truth to that, the 'disaffected' he gave that voice to are the ones who cheered on the ideas that we should build a wall to keep immigrants out, that Mexicans are rapists, that Muslims are terrorists, that anyone who voices opposition should be roughed up. Those that felt that Nazis & KKK were 'very fine people.' Those people are not simply going to go away.
  23. Are you asking about observers who were selected, vetted, and approved before the election? Or a bunch of Trumpettes who just decided to show up and demand to 'observe'? If you are talking about Detroit, there were over 100 from each party in the room.
  24. Stolen from FB: How many Trump supporters does it take to change a light bulb? None. Trump says it's fixed and they all sit in the dark cheering at the great job He's done.
