Funny how all the people that hate 'political correctness' are the ones who were protected by that 'institutionalized power' thing. You know, the people who used to be immune from consequences of being rude or inappropriate.

Yeah. Absolutely hilarious how the election was 'stolen', yet the Rs made gains in the House and damned near kept control of the Senate. Pretty incompetent 'thievery'. And somewhat like all the lawsuits. Once there are penalties for lies, they stop claiming there was fraud. Go figure.
  3. There's also the fact that the BLM protests were trying to stop cops from murdering black people. The insurrection at the Capitol last week was because Trump supporters were mad he lost. Or stupid and gullible enough to believe his claim that the election was 'stolen'. Funny how there was plenty of claims, but when it came to actual proof in a court of law, it came up empty.
  4. Last month's had a couple non-fatal. This month doesn't seem to have any (yes, I just looked). I would think that part of it is the reduced number of incidents, both fatal & non. We've been on a downward trend for a while. We also probably saw one of the lowest yearly total jumps due to Covid. I know I personally set a record for the least number of jumps this past year. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if a new low for fatals is set this year (2020).
  5. Please name ONE country that doesn't have any political parties.
  6. Don't forget about the cop out in California... Killed by the Alt Right. Or 'Umbrella Man' in Minneapolis. A white supremacist. Or the Nashville courthouse arsonist, or a lot of the other violent 'protesters' who turned out to be right wing assholes taking advantage of the chaos to make BLM look bad. Yeah. It's a bit difficult to accept the idea of 'coming together' with the side that wanted to LYNCH the VP. Seriously. Trump incited an insurrectionist mob to go hang Pence. His OWN VP. Because Pence wouldn't go along with Trump's plan to seize power. There are reports that one of the Capitol policemen on duty distracted the mob, and lured them off in the wrong direction. That act gave the security folks time to get the Congress-critters out to safety, along with Pence. What would have happened if the mob breached the room before Pence could escape? There's a rather nasty part of me that would have loved that. To see Trump's little toady being dragged outside and strung up for failing to worship the Orange Idiot. To see "Trumpism" at it's finest. To see the people finally realize (maybe) what they've done. I don't know if the outside security would have been able to stop them or not. I'm guessing that there are snipers positioned around, and with the clear threat to the VP, the lynch mob would have taken significant casualties (until they realized they were under fire and ran away).
  7. There have been very disturbing indications of this for some time. Maybe now they're going to take it seriously. Don't forget that Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were Army buddies.
  8. That's interesting. And also my experience. I know better than to argue much with Lee about this stuff. But, on a 288 Manta, I could pretty much do pull ups on the front risers. The canopy would barely deflect, even though I was pulling up enough to unweight the leg straps. Yet I could do 180s or more pulling a front riser on a Triathlon 190 and a Sabre2 170
  9. Dan Rather on FB: Kinda funny (not really) how when black men murdered police during the BLM 'time' a few years back, none of them survived being arrested. EVERY one died. In Dallas, the cops used (and destroyed) a fairly expensive remote control 'robot' to deliver an explosive that killed the suspect. In the wake of this attack, nobody has been arrested specifically for the murder. Yet. It does appear that Ron got one thing right. The Law enforcement and military who were supposed to 'protect and defend' were at least derilict in their duty, if not complicit in the attack. One has committed suicide. One's been arrested (it's not been released if it was due to behavior during the attack) and 2 have been suspended (including the one who took the selfie with the insurrectionist): https://thehill.com/policy/finance/533715-1-member-of-law-enforcement-arrested-2-suspended-over-conduct-during-capitol

    Q

Well, not Ron's friends, but the president of the Chicago police union. He supported the demonstrators. You know, the ones that MURDERED A COP. Really. He walked his comments back after just about everyone condemned them. https://www.wbez.org/stories/chicago-police-union-president-says-hes-sorry-for-backing-capitol-rioters/9d386ba1-3867-48f4-bad6-037aa0db8d81 Of course, that doesn't change what he said, or the clear implication that BLM protests were 'worse'. https://www.newsweek.com/chicago-police-union-leader-defends-capitol-rioters-there-was-little-destruction-property-1559835 The racist implications are neither subtle nor surprising.
  11. The Offensive Line coach at Chattanooga got fired for being... Offensive. https://sports.yahoo.com/chattanooga-football-assistant-coach-fired-after-calling-stacey-abrams-fat-albert-on-twitter-143908580.html?ncid=facebook_yahoosport_l0w2dc1068w&fbclid=IwAR2wOv304lUv_5ytXe9XcnTVHhmYypqMNVOf5G22Ad-YdhuxzZT2J_HdXD4

Ok, I'll play - How would Trump have all of his supporters phone numbers to message them? Or was that part of the "I love Donnie" app that had all the spyware in it?
  13. That should go in the 'Good News' thread.
  14. Hoo Boy. First off, welcome. It's a really fun sport filled with some very amazing people. Second, don't focus only on a 'ultimate goal of wingsuiting'. Focus on becoming the best, most skilled & safest jumper you can be. The rest will follow. Enjoy the journey. You may find other disciplines to be something you want to do. Either as a side road on your journey to a wingsuit, or as a completely different path. Unitl you've done it, you have no clue what it's like. Formation work (belly), freeflying, canopy flight, instruction, rigging, even flying the planes. Each part of the sport has things that are very attractive to some folks. "Best" and "Cheapest" don't go together. Ever. I would look for a DZ close to you that has a track record of creating licensed jumpers from the students that start. One question I would ask is: 'How many students did you have that got their license last year?' Or maybe in the last few years because 2020 was so screwy. Keep in mind that AFF or IAD are instruction methods. Once you get to 'solo student' status, there's still a ways to go to your license, and that's where the real adventure (and learning) begin. How much? That depends. I know Europe tends to be more expensive than the US. I've said more than once that, no matter the training method, you can plan on somewhere around $10k (USD) to get your first license and all the gear you need. It can be done for less, but it takes a fair amount of skill, patience & luck. For the rest of the jumps, it will not be cheap. Here in the US, I usually pay $20-$25(USD) per jump. Getting to the minimum 200 (next 175 after the initial 25 for the license) for a wingsuit will cost $4k-$5k. And that's a minimum. Not everyone is ready to get into a suit at that point. How long? Again, it depends. How much can you afford to jump? The weather where you are isn't always the best, can you go somewhere like Spain? There are a couple good DZs there, they tend to have better weather and attract jumpers from all over Europe (and the US). Again, 2020 has been really awful for lots of this sorts of thing. Hopefully next year will be better. If you are 'studying', are you a college student? I would suggest finding something you like that pays well. It's a lot better to have a lucrative job, and jump as a hobby than to try to make a living at it. I would take at least a couple meteorology courses. Weather is a huge factor in this sport. Being able to understand and predict it is very helpful.
  15. You guys are using facts to argue with him. That's very foolish.
  16. It wasn't tested. There wasn't any attempt to indict or try Nixon. I've read arguments that the pardon was too broad to be legal, that it had to define what crimes were being pardoned. I've also read arguments that the 'presumptive pardon' (before indictment and conviction) is perfectly legal. But, again, much of this has never been tested in court.
  17. On a much lighter note, there is a schematic going around that claims to be for the "5G Chip" that will be implanted when the vaccine is injected. It's a little bit suspicious because I've never seen a 'tracking device' with bass, treble, mid and volume controls. Also, why would it need a 'foot switch' if it's inside your body? Oh, probably because it's really the schematic for a distortion pedal for a guitar. And these morons wonder why we think they're stupid. https://au.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/conspiracy-theorists-guitar-pedal-covid-vaccine-chip-21555/
  18. Velcro on both ends, with a piece of 'fuzzy' as a protective cover for the hook piece that's on whatever end is open at the time? That or two pouches, one on top of the other. One open at one end, one open at the other. Maybe even parallel ones. Purely guesses on my part. Give me a day or two and I can likely come up with even stranger ideas.
  19. I don't think that would work. It states clearly that the 2nd letter has to be submitted after the President's rebuttal. However, if the 2nd letter is already written, and the 'submitter' is in Pelosi's office, waiting for Trump's rebuttal, then it would follow the rules. And no action against the VP or cabinet could stop it. If extremely paranoid (or under serious threat), there could be several copies of the 2nd letter and multiple 'submitters' to get it through (although this is getting seriously 'Hollywood silly').
  20. I didn't know who Murdoch was at that point. I'll have to dig it out and watch it again. It's been a while. Saw A Fish Called Wanda not too long ago.
  21. Part of it is because it's intended to allow the VP to take power from an incapacitated President. So if the VP says 'the President is not able to execute his duties', the President has the ability to say "Nuh Uuuuuhhhhhh, I can too do my job" and resume power. Then the VP & cabinet have to decide if they really want to pursue this. If the Pres is in a coma, that wouldn't apply. In this case, where it's pretty much a hostile takeover, I would think that the VP & cabinet would have the 2nd letter in their pocket when they transmit the first. It would then be delivered almost instantly on the heels of Trumps "No, I'm still here" letter.
  22. Wow. So how does that mean that they 'own' this? They failed to take Trump as a serious threat? Nobody did. Yet every time they (the whole country, not just the 'left') tried to stop him, his supporters (including you) enabled him. And now this. As was noted above, that's the same as saying 'she asked for it' when a woman gets raped.
  23. I heard another report on the radio that one of the dead tased himself. Not sure how he died from it, but I know the idea of 'non-lethal' is not entirely accurate. It can (and has) caused heart attacks.
  24. Bullshit. You 'blamed the Dems' in your original post and are now trying to weasel out of it. Please describe this "sliver". What exactly is it and why does anyone who didn't vote for Trump own any of it? This whole mess is on Trump and the Republican party. And on those who voted for them, either back in 2016 or a couple of months ago. Although it's a lot more on the recent ones because they had full evidence of how evil Trump is, and how the Rs are in full lockstep, at least until the last couple of weeks.
  25. Reports I heard earlier implied that they were health issues. Nothing specific, but some of those "Meal Team Six" ding-dongs are (were) probably solid heart attack candidates.
