  1. Trump's long list began looooong before the election.
  2. No. He called for his supporters to 'rough up' a protester. Offered to pay for the attorney. He called Nazis & KKK 'very fine people'. He called soldiers killed in action 'suckers & losers'. He used derogatory names for everyone he didn't like. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. He cost himself any respect I would give to the holder of the office. Because of his own words and actions.
  3. Yup. Can you even imagine the outrage if this young girl had been white? (or imagine that it would have even happened to a white girl?)
  4. Sure. The google 'fill in' suggestions gave it to me too. I didn't even have to click on it to actually search it (I use that as a spell check too). I just find it funny how Ron refers to different presidents. He repeatedly called Obama 'Hussein Obama', to illustrate how scary his middle name was. The only one I use a derogatory nick-name for is Trump. Generally, I use their last name, with the exception of using initials to differentiate the two Bush presidents (GHWB & GWB).
  5. You do realize that oil is a global commodity, right? Even if the lie about the Mango Mussolini achieving 'energy independence' was true, we aren't anywhere near 'oil independence'. If we were, why would we need the Keystone pipeline to bring in Canadian crude? The price of oil, globally, is going up some. Funny that you think that Biden has ANY control over that. Not surprising that you think that anything that negatively affects you is his fault, but still funny. Also funny that you refer to 'President Trump', yet Biden is "JB". Don't you even know his middle initial? Or is it that you don't care because it's not a 'scary Muslim name'?
  6. I wouldn't be terribly worried at this point. I would suspect there's a pretty good chance that they will reorganize and re-emerge. Not sure how the bankruptcy rules in New Zealand work, but in the US, it wouldn't be terribly difficult. And even if Pacific Aerospace doesn't survive, the certifications will. Again, I don't know how NZ does this sort of thing, but here in the US, the certs and rights to produce both completed planes and replacement parts would be auctioned off to generate funds to pay creditors (depending on a few things). I would be surprised if someone isn't interested in a 'ready to go' plane to make.
  7. Really? You mean having solar producing power during the daytime (peak energy usage times) lowers demand on the systems? So that the 'peak demand' doesn't 'peak' as high? And this makes it easier for the utilities? Wow. What an amazing concept! (note: we really need a 'sarcasm' font)
  8. Pfft. Wisconsin has Ed Gein and Jeffery Dahmer. Our serial killers can eat your serial killers.
  9. As I noted in the "Impeachment" thread, 15 'jurors' found better things to do than listen to testimony yesterday. I'd love to see them be told that they can't vote at the end. Not gonna happen, but it would be cool to see them held accountable for their actions.
  10. Well, apparently 15 Senators had 'better things to do' than listen to the testimony yesterday. If this was a real trial, they'd be in a lot of trouble. I'd love to see them barred from voting when it's time. "If you weren't present to hear the arguments, how can you render a fair & just verdict? If you can't bother to be present during the trial portion, you don't get to be present for the voting portion." No, it's not going to happen. But it would be cool if it could.
  11. Seen on FB: Privilege is when you think something is not a problem because it's not a problem to you personally.
  12. Recognize it. Try not to contribute to it. Try to help others realize that it's real. Understand that affirmative action programs are trying to counter it. Note that 'feel guilty about it', 'pay reparations to the minorities' or 'take blame for it' or anything else that conservatives seem to think that people bringing it up want them to do aren't on the list.
  13. Winter storms don't get names. It's a stunt by the Weather Channel (or local channels) to hype them up. It's utterly stupid. When I googled "Winter Storm Names", the top 'fill in suggestion' was 'stupid'. First result was: https://www.clickondetroit.com/weather-center/2018/01/28/paul-gross-explains-why-naming-winter-storms-is-ridiculous/
  14. Yup. Like you're waiting for Hilary to be indicted... Or the 'tribunals' at Guantanamo Bay to begin...
  15. Return the favor. It works better that way.
  16. Ummm... What cure? From your own link: Japan, as a society, has a lot of 'germophobia'. People there often wear masks in public. They had a very different experience with it than most western countries. This is from back in May, but it covers much of the response and results Japan had. https://time.com/5842139/japan-beat-coronavirus-testing-lockdowns/
  17. I'm not either of them, but I'd say the chances are very low. The logistics are probably the biggest hurdle. That much lift capacity is hard (and expensive) to organize. IIRC, it was the King's coronation anniversary. This was put together to celebrate that.
  18. Which one? Whichever one suits the lies they want to spew at any given time.
  19. Yeah. This year was a testament to the truism that 'Defense wins championships'. Rogers threw 6 interceptions all year. 3 went to Tampa Bay. He was sacked 20 times all year. 9 were by Tampa Bay. To think that the KC O-line was going to be able to protect Mahomes was rather foolish. I know a lot of people say 'don't bet against Brady', but he was only "pretty good". It was the defense that allowed "pretty good" to take the Superbowl.
  20. Well, of course. Putin the Poisoner is going to put the best spin possible on the 'incoherent' opening arguments.
  21. I got an e-mail from USPA yesterday. It was the survey they do every year (the one that used to come along with the 'mail in' renewal form). Jumps, canopy size & loading, malfunctions, injuries, safety day, the usual stuff. However, there was a new question, two in fact. "Do you support the idea of an 'E-License' (Expert License)" (yes, no, no opinion). And "What qualifications would you include in an Expert License?" Sooooo... I think an 'expert' license is a good idea. It wouldn't be a 'master' (so not required to be a TI). What would other folks include in the qualification list? Mine was: Lots of jumps (2k+) Night jumps Real water landings (not just pool training) Holding an instructional rating (more than a coach) Rigger rating (how can you be an "expert parachutist" without being qualified to work on the gear?) It occurred to me later that a 'biggish' way formation in more than one discipline would probably also be a good thing. Say 20 or more belly 15 or more freefly 15 or more angle/tracking 10 or more wingsuit Those numbers are pretty arbitrary, and I don't have enough experience in anything but belly to say "this many takes expert skills". It could be a requirement of 2 or 3 of them. I'm curious what others think. Of the idea of the expert license, and what qualifications it should have.
  22. Well, the funny part about it is that when I was younger (1970s & 80s), we'd have a 'strong arctic high pressure system' that caused a 'cold snap'. Now we have a 'polar vortex' causing 'near record low temps'. I remember having one or two of these every winter. Sometimes 3. Now we have one.
  23. While not 'notationally correct' (is that a real term?), canopy wingloading has usually been expressed as a ratio. More correct would be "lbs/sq ft". All the jumpers I know understand that "1.3:1" means "one point three pounds of jumper per square foot of canopy". It's still fairly prevalent and widely accepted. I know newer jumpers who went onto 'medium-ish loaded' ellipticals at fairly low jump numbers. Most of them did mostly ok. Some biffed and got hurt. OTOH, I know newer jumpers who screwed up and biffed while flying lightly loaded canopies.
  24. The 'funny' part is that I can totally see this happening. R Senators could simply make a cheesy excuse, miss the vote at the end of the trial, and 'escape' the consequences of either voting to convict (alienating Trumpettes) or to acquit (alienatiing everone else).
  25. While it's true that, once in place, pipelines are less intrusive and less risky than many (most?) other transportation methods, the installation can be messy. And they often are installed on land where the landowner doesn't want them. But the oil companies use emminent domain to take the land, and the owners are too small, too weak, too poor to successfully fight. Are you at all familiar with the proposed high tension powerlines that were proposed to be put in right next to SDC? And the fight that was waged to stop that? Also, the problems isn't as much the pipeline itself is the approval process (or 'lack of process'). The Rs wanted it approved. Obama wanted a full slate of environmental studies. The Rs said they wanted to shortcut the process and demanded an answer immediately. Obama said (more or less) 'the only answer you're going to get right now is "No".' When Trump took office, he just said 'do it, now.' My understanding (and I could be wrong on this) is that the pipeline isn't cancelled permanently, it's just gone back to where it was in the approval process.
