5 accidentally shot at gun shows in North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana
jclalor replied to ibx's topic in Speakers Corner
Once again, we see the lame street media propagating the lie that private gun sales take place at gun shows. -
The Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. They are well armed and regulated. I suppose you could throw in Federal, State, County, and City law enforceme***nt. This notion that Joe Sixpack with a basement full of guns and ammo is going to overthrow the US govt is absurd. If you start shooting your neighbors and fellow citizens to protect your "rights" you will still end up dead or in jail. Isn't that what Ted Nugent predicted? *** Its a fact we already accept certain limitations on gun ownership, background checks and smaller clips are not going to stop anyone who is not a criminal from having as many guns as they like. It's not the message that the Right is going bat shit crazy over, it's the messenger.

If the 2nd amendment was written with one of it's ideas being that a country could revolt against an undesirable government, doing this at a time when muskets put the average man on equal footing with professional soldiers. Now fast forward 200+ years, the average weapons owned by the private citizen, including semi auto assault weapons, are totally inadequate to fend off a modern army. As weapons and ammo become more advanced, shouldn't the average citizen be able to arm him self with the latest in light weapons; fully auto guns, grenades, mortars, rockets and so forth to be able to put up a fight with a well equipped army? And how do you define "A well regulated militia"?

So, what is America really being sold here? All I've heard so far, I know to be deception. I'm happy to read the rest, but I'm not optimistic. http://www.shouselaw.com/nevada/weapon-laws.html

I went to a gun show in Reno with a friend a few years ago, the only thing the private seller wanted to see was his Nevada drivers license, 2 minutes and $2800 later he had a very nice HK-91.

Kind of like when you give a relative your car.

I never have bought a gun in my life, I do have a .308 savage, 20 gauge shotgun, and a revolver that my Grandfather gave me.
-
Anytime someone buys a firearm from a NON-LICENSED DEALER at a gun show, or anywhere else, no background check.
-
Can you let us know when the 30 minutes is up, if there's a civil war I think I may call in sick tonight.
-
I thought he was suppose to issue an executive order to confiscate all guns? I'm guessing that the background check will pass, there will be a good fight over large magazines and they will never get the assault weapons ban reinstated.

You would think they would ignore this... but their obsessive and compulsive hatred of Obama won't let them see the big picture.

America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership

Context is everything. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2013/01/obama-debt-ceiling-2006-vote.html Politicians cast symbolic votes all the time when they know that the result of their vote will not result in passing legislation. The minority has been doing this forever, but what the GOP is now doing is a different story. But what the hell, it's not like the GOP Congress has an image problem right now, I say let them do what ever the hell they want and then face the consequences in the next elections. The fact is, the President even challenged the GOP to come up with a list of cuts equal to the debt ceiling increase, exactly what the GOP wants the President to do. I don't think the GOP can do it, they just want to obstruct this President -
Eric Holder: Gun Owners Should 'Cower' in Shame Like Smokers

The video is out of context, he is talking about convincing the youth of DC, who was experiencing a huge murder problem at the time, that carrying guns is not cool. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias -

Funny how raising the debt ceiling was never an issue when Reagan and Bush did it 25 times. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/jul/26/barack-obama/obama-says-reagan-raised-debt-ceiling-18-times-geo/ Yea...that's it. The old "he started it" argument. That will fix it. I'm gonna guess you didn't get the Politifact memo. I never said Bush and Reagan did anything wrong, they did the correct thing. Paying your bills is what responsible people do. With IOUs? May I suggest a course in Basic Arithmetic? You will find it fascinating. Perhaps as fascinating as you would find logic 101. -

Obama Opposed Gun Ban Exception to Defend One’s Home
jclalor replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't recall anyone saying that he would be pro gun during his first term so he could sucker people in and then confiscate firearms in his second term. Perhaps he was tough on terrorist during his first term so he could pal around with them during his second term. Obviously he suckered people in so it is hard to understand what you are talking about I worked all night, my apologies. Before Obama was elected, the pro-gun side claimed that Obama, right after his election, would try his hardest to take away your guns. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3410839;search_string=obama%20guns;#3410839 Obama gets elected, during his first term he expands the rights of gun owners instead of taking guns away. The gun lobby was wrong. Now you guys say " Well of course he didn't do any anti-gun stuff his first term, he wanted to get re-elected to a second term and then he will show his true colors." Every time you guys are wrong, you rephrase the issue. Just like when the Right was saying he was a Muslim, that he will never be tough with his own kind when it comes to terrorism but we all know how that turned out. -
