Ok I admit these are NOT landscape photos, but they are nature photos in the landscape format. Story behind photos, none really I was letting the dog in a saw this bug about head level on my screen door, I not sure what kind of bug it is and thought it might fun to see what kind of macro shots I could get. They came out pretty cool, but I think the camera scared the crap of of the bug....(see pic#2) you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Do you consider yourself a good "Spotter"?
stratostar replied to Legs's topic in Safety and Training
I for one voted that way due to the poor choices in the poll, I wouldn't say "never". But very rare is a better word, you can give a perfect spot and some idiot can fly off to the corn fields cuz they don't know how to fly their canopy. Anyone who really want to see how good they can spot, jump a round canopy, we /you will see how good you really are. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
You got that right!

That's not as bad as when I had a D license jumper ask me to hook up their 3 rings, because they didn't know how. If you don' know how to hook it right, how are you going to know if its right on a gear check? But yes it is always best to have a compleat understanding on ones system and how it works. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

No, unless you could find a hideout till after close. With all the money they spend to do some of the lame things they do, why not just spend enough to do the E legit as a show then? For the right price everything is for sale in NYC. (or anywhere for that matter) But all this time I wondered what most basers thought of this, seems there are some who think cool and some that think what a fucknut. I'm in the second camp. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Glad to see a base jumper post what I have been wanting to say for a longtime, when I saw the news story about this, I couldn't believe someone could be so fucking stupid to try that B in a post 9-11 world, and in the daytime at that. When news reported there was a tipoff I didn't think much of it, now I'm thinking Jeb was telling someone, and they thought "what a fuckhead, he's going bring the heat on all of us seeking glory" and they dropped a dime on him. But look at the bright he got all the free publicity for the his show and base jumping at the same time, maybe base can be mainstreamed next... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Well I can't speak for every other camera flyer out there, but I made the decission based upon the size of some of the crap placed on top on my helmet and the very real possiblity that due to the sizes involved a wrap/snag could happen very easy, even in a cutaway, say with line twist that travel to the risers and twist them up. If you have ever had that happen to you with a large camera set up to the point where your head is pinned downward and you can't look up to see WTF is going on then you would understand. My decission to remove my RSL had nothing to do with "hearsay" or because the "cool guys" do it. It come down to common sense, if I have to cutaway and get wraped/snag I want the chance to use the helmet cutaway (if your neck isn't snapped) to remove it before my reserve gets dumped into a ball of shit over my head. The bottom line is, it is up to each jumper to assess the risk level and make choices that best fit their level of risk for the type of skydive they do. I decided over 11 years ago an RSL added more risk to me as a camera flyer, that is my personal choice and if you feel more comfort jumping an RSL for your the type of skydiving you do, that is your choice. No where in any of my posts have I ever said jumping with and AAD or RSL is a bad idea, for most jumpers. I do however feel mandatory AAD's is stupid and no one should be forced to jump one, that should remain a personal choice. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I have yet to meet a camera flyer that jumps with an active RSL, while there maybe some out there who do, I don't know of any and I think most would say not a good idea to do so. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Or to tell those on the ground to get out of my landing area. I got a bad case of cramps from laughing to much. You should have said yes, but they have to attend a big way barrel roll camp. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Yep and Tess, and all the boys too quite well. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Well I jump camera 95% of the time and when I got my new Jav in 98 the RSL was the first thing that was removed, I don't want it or need it, I don't lone my gear, I don't plan on reinstalling it period. But I guess every rigger out there will have to keep an eye out for rigs with them removed and get them replaced. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

What to do when Jump Pilot isn't licensed???
stratostar replied to JUDYJ's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
All kidding aside, I agree with you. I believe this is the same place I have heard about this before more then 5 years ago, not sure, but it is in the right part of the USA, so it could be. I have the impression a visit was not long ago and with a well respected socal local in tow who I trust 100%, I don't know judy, she could be full of shit as far as I know, but I know some flame retardant old guy to speak the truth and I trust his eval. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

What to do when Jump Pilot isn't licensed???
stratostar replied to JUDYJ's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In this case (and others) trying to talk it over with those involved wouldn't have done any good, anyone who would do as this was, could care less what you have to say about it. Again being one of no authorthy, and trying to "bring it to someones attention" won't do any good, unless it is the authorthies from the get go. You would be correct, no where did your post say that, the point is knowing the best action to take. Approching a DZO who would do as was done in this case, I'm sure they would decided "yea what were doing is wrong, we better remove the engine and have a real A&P do the work, when we get a new engine". They would have told you to fuck off and mind your own buisness and it would be a total waste of time trying to deal with someone who don't give a fuck about following the rules in the first place, if they did, they wouldn't have done what was done and cost a lot of inocent lifes to try to save a buck. With this pilot, who by all reports has been flying jumpers for years, would be well aware of the reg's and rules for using his ticket, and to chose to disrgard the law for many years, tells me he don't give a fuck about the laws and rules for pilots, what else dose this guy blow off because he don't like the laws /rules, rigging and aircraft maintaince, maybe? Wouldn't be the first time or the first DZO to do so. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

You need to read the crash repots for the 92 hinkely crash and see how "keeping it all in the family" helped a bunch to an early grave. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
