  4. While I understand where your coming from, I would welcome the discussion, but I would have to ask you what are you doing to piss off my dog that she has to growl at you or threatens to bite you? The only times a dog I owned has bit someone, they were deserving of it. Dogs are a great judge of character as all three people who were bit turned out to be scumbags, theifs and liers. The best one of all time was a dude came over to my house and was laying on his back on the living room floor, when out of the blue my dog gets up and without a sound walked over to him and barfed all over on him, turned out the dude was a backstabbing lier and over all lowlife. Not one person on the DZ could stand the guy and eveyone jus couldn't put a finger on it as to why no one could stand to be around him. A week after my dog hurled we found the real truth, my dog knew it the whole time, she even tried to tell us..... So if my dog bites you, she will get a pat on the head and cookie followed by a "good dog", because that tells me you can't be trusted and to keep an eye on you and to keep you away from my family and home. Those who know my dog will tell you she is a lover not a fighter and you have to work very very hard to piss her to bite you, unless your scumbag or lowlife... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  6. Don't forget the legs being wraped. While this did make for a "serge" of some sorts by the TDM downward and forward, the biggest/main reason for that death is the camera man flying in a NO FLY ZONE! As to the OP, I wouln't want a PAX grabing my hands when I might need them the most. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  7. Amen. It is a special kind person, who runs into "fire" (bullets or flames) while everyone else is running away. Sparky is one who runs in and not away. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  8. Skydive The Farm, ROCKS! Best weekend vacation my dog and the wife me have ever had, it was great to visit a place where we could bring our pup and all the dogs got along very well. While I did see a few poop piles around, they were in place that it shouldn't be an issue for footwear. Also my pup got to learn to swim and she had just as much weekend fun (if not more) as we did and it made for a quite 8 hour ride home, the dog was beat and slept most the way home. Now that pup "tandem guy" owns, almost came home with me. Over all the Farm is great and I look forward to a return visit in the near future and so dose Riley my 3 yr. old lab. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  10. I'm doing everything on a mac in imovie, love it, easy to use, super fast and imove HD dose some pretty cool stuff with SD video. The DZ system is slower because we have to share it, working on my laptop is faster for me because I can keep MY settings and music. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  12. Here is what you need to buy and set up. This is cheap and he has a reserve too. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=49324;d=1 if you want to go modern while still being old school. I have one just like this with a Mk-1 in it and also the one in the photo I attached in in a hog and I just got a wonderhog with a sierra in it too. I use a 28 inch PC on my hog with the main in a POD. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  14. If you look thru the classifieds for contaners I saw a wonderhog one being sold on here, there is a good chance that your MK-1 will fit inside it in a D-bag or a POD. I have a 77 hog with a MK-1 in a POD turned sideways to fit the tray,( just been to lazy to build a D-bag for it) set up on hand deploy,3-rings. This is a easy way to have a newer old, old school rig. The attached photos is a 27 ft russian in a 78 wonderhog packed in custom made D-bag, 3-ringed and HD, round reserve. I alao have an original SST racer with a MK-1 in it, it is packed in a regular style D-bag with crowns stowed on topside thru big number 8, I also have bags and POD's that are soft holed. I have been meaning to take the D-bag off this rig and make a pattern for making a few bags of differnt sizes for my personal collection of rigs. Any right sized D-bag will work, you will need to work on your packing skills for a D-bag. POD's are easy and sleeves are easy and all work well. Why you moving away from the retro rigging? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  15. 90 for video 120 with stills last I knew. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  16. I'm not surprised your getting that much more, the only reason it's 35 is because the DZO takes 15 right off the top plus slot. Stills I sell for 35 extra on CD you get all, good, bad , ugly for your 35 in this part of the country (midwest). However I can get the going rate in other higher profile DZ's of 60 for stills only on CD and that can be 1 to ? images. Video is all good and everything, but the real value is in the still images and are really worth more then video images, because you can do such much more with them as a stand alone product. My only point was the amount of DZ's who only pay 40.00 for both and YOU HAVE to fly both or you don't fly. And there are a lot of the newer video people who are all over that shit and think their getting a good deal. My guess is the other dzs will lower there prices now in rate of pay to stay in line with the other place's paying 40 only for both and selling both for a lower price. Hell I can do AFF all day long and make 40 a jump and not have the added risk to neck/back health, equipment loss, extra work load, a huge in investment in the 2 rigs, laptops, lenses, cameras and parts, CDs, DVDs,DVD recorders, camera cleaning shit, extra battires, chargers, TVs, special jumpsuit and all the shit I haven't listed, like hauling all this shit around to dz's. On top of that once you start making a living with your cameras doing film and still images, you find out real quick how foolish skydiving video and still images pay as an industry and any other photoshoots without the risk of death pay a lot more per image or day rate, video production is even more pay per hour or day rate. (not you DSE) If you think I'm full of shit all you have to do is pick out 30 minutes of your best footage and find a local production house and go price a short video being made from your footage and see what post production will cost you for a 10 min. dvd. Now ask them how much it will cost to have that done in an hour or less so you can leave with it in hand. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  17. No I'm not implying shit, I'm flat out telling you. Yes they should and will pay for a quility product. I'm also saying some dzo's should lower their cut and pay more to the camera person who supplys ALL their own equipment the dz don't need to clear 15 bucks for the favor of giving us work, your not doing me that big of a favor, it's a job. As for still images, I have sold 90% of my still images as a "after the fact" or up sale. A CD with all images can sell very easy for 35 to 60 bucks for stills alone, people will gladly pay it and be happy to, if you sell it right. An 8x10 sells for 16 to 20 bucks and larger prints 13x19 35 to 45.00, is a going rate. I prefer to sell the image file in hi res on a cd because you don't have to drag around a printer and it's super fast. If your giving them away or only getting 5 bucks your getting ripped off and doing a disservice to the industry, the going rate for video only is 35.00, you do the math. Adding stills is more work, more danger, more risk, more expense and should pay more to the camera flyer. And you should get paid an amount to recover the investment as well as cover maintaince to equipment and profit too and for the risk involved. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  18. Oh he's a Man-Whore alright! I saw some stories written on the bathroom walls in Z-hills that were all about Kyle "was here". So I don't know about him, I wasn't there to see it, thank god. But it's pretty bad when Carbone writes shit about you and TK leaves it up. And you should see the boy-toy he pals around with while in Richmond, a real playboy type, flies in to meet him in a private plane and is some kind of underwear catolog model. The dude's not right I tell ya! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  19. Kyle been dancing for ya in his male stripper clothes..... When I first met him he introduced himself as "Krazy Kyle-The bunny hop bandit" and was a tad limp wristed with the handshake and had that funny tone of voice, if ya know what I mean. I just thought we had another goofy ass frat boy in class, till later after lunch I look over and right n the middle of a packed hanger, he was doing a strip teast and lap dance on some big tall bald DUDE and yes he had a real big smile on his face, well they both did. Then he all sudden like hopped up and yanked off his split velcro silver lamay pants and started sporting one of them there gurily type "floss" thong under panties and procieded to shake his bootie between some weird looking kind of "bunny hop" thing that kind of looks like a, well, I'm sure you've already seen it if he has you guys already electrocutng balls....... The dude's not right. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  20. See what I mean, bet he lost his chick to the "white top wise one" at the bar & I bet he's in the parking lot right now looking for Sparky's bike..... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  21. Even when you've done tons of videos you can still have an off day, shit happens. Couple weeks ago I did 3 TDM vids and something happend on all 3 jumps, one I had contol over but the other two fuck ups were out of my control. (recording pixalated lines/stripes over the landing shot and hitting the zoom & zooming in when climbing back in AC when TDM did want to go, so when we did go it was still zoomed in.) In this case the two that did turn out had good pre -freefall-post jump no landings the other got some free stills. Now not my best day for sure but it happends, good to be humbled once and a while, it keep you in check. There is always room to improve no matter how good you are, and no matter how good your are, you will have your off days too. But I have seen many DZO's let or ask people who just strapped cams on (some on the first cam jump ever) to do a TDM videos and other forms of really really bad videos and your right it sucks to sell shit video, it also sucks to have to tell a FJS sorry (fill in blank) happend and your video didn't turn out. It also would depend on how you define "shit video". What I think looks kick ass, DSE might think sucks ass. Right now the industry is a lot like it was 10 to 15 yrs ago when dv was just starting to show up. You had guys jumping cams that let tape flutter bad and no editing at all, if you were lucky you got a music track over lay and a roll of film handed to you. You would only find a few people who had fancy edit boards, till later on then only fulltime flyers had all the toys and very, very, very few DZO's owned anything to do production. This is still true today. The videos took on a whole new look, more MTV like if you will, all fancied up now with titles, trans and fades and music. It's now was a production, but as time has gone on we see the change again now with DV/HDV and more people going to editing on computers and boards like the MX-1 are out and have fade'n away for sometime now. The DZO's who did buy editing systems (not many) got the MX-1 types as most of us who had our own systems were selling them to go to computers and go all digital. Let's keep in mind now how much investment we have had to make over the years to do the job, when many couldn't or wouldn't. Those of you are just getting into flying the camera in the last 8 years or so have had it pretty easy in terms of equipment you have got to use and the prices you paid for the toys. Yet at the same time the rate of pay has stayed the same or in some cases gone down, (and I can't believe how many clowns sign up to give away digital stills for free or 5 bucks), yet your expected to be self contained and supply all your own stuff or pay an in house. For the rates being charged to the TDM's and AFF's by the dzo's for vidoe and stills, the customers really have no room to bitch these days for the types of productions being done on most dz's these days. It is so under valued, because it is under sold for what they get in return. In fact I submit that they aren't paying enough for video alone and dz's going all digital stills now but only paying 5.00 or in some place nothing extra at all.... There will always be the raman noodle chasers who will buy used (cheap as they can) stuff off those "jones" folks (who have to have the hot new shit) they will hop on a load for free video and stills or just enough to eat dinner and breakfast the next day. There will always be that clown living on the dz and working for scraps, beer and bong hits! I know, I was one once too, till a grew up and got a job, a house and a working car to drive. And that clown will always be the guy the DZO use's first no matter how years/loyal you been around or how crappy a job he dose. Go price some rates for a sitting at a studio and see how under paid video and still image production is in our sport for the risk/investment involved to aquire those frames. In the future we'll have a bunch of POPS jumpers who all have neck problems and can't hold their heads up anymore due the weight and G force's over the years.(we are the living long term medical study) Make sure your setting aside enough money to pay for your health. What is someones stuff, is shit to some other. What is shit to some other, is stuff to someone. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  22. If ya know Sparky, then ya know where he likes to park when at the DZ. So after selling his rigs and building a bike to ride to the airport and cruse the beach for hot chicks, he pulled into the DZ only to have some walking pin cushin with blue hair in one of those FF clown suits and a few of his buddys, start smart'n off to Spark about being som ol geeezzzer needing a "special" (handicap) parking spot and being to lazy to walk across the dz, I'm sure he blew it off, at first. He and bad spot Tim were gettin loaded and swooping all the hot chicks at the bar with all their "back in the day stories" and social security money (buying rounds), them "kids" got pissed off these two old fucks were drinking um under the table and making out with their chicks too, so they went out to the parking lot and kicked over his high dollar custom bike.......must have known they'd get their ass kicked, so took it out on the bike. The guy don't even jump anymore and get's front row "special" parking and all the pussy too, still. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  24. Well I guess there is always this to talk about...(See Highlighted) I vote for "we are lowering the bar" and doing a disservice to the sport and students if this waver is allowed to pass, for this person, do to their clear lack of understanding of others "rights to a safezone" in the air and only stopping because Tom N. from Strong called the dz.
