Self-induced turbulence.

I'm surprised a rigger would suggest such a thing. Complicates the manufacture of the harness, and as Doug points out, introduces a potential snag point. However, if you reversed the set-up and had the quick ejector strap attached to the plane, and attached it to somewhere on the harness, say the articulated hip ring, that might be more efficient. You'd have to address the legalities of incorporating the harness into the restraint system, as Lee points out. A lot of people do that anyways, though - you see people on straddle benches hooking the seat belt through a leg strap or main lift web.

I remember a day, not too long ago, when if you pulled up to a store, put a mask over your face, then walked inside, it could get you in trouble. Now, you're in trouble if you don't.

How many money packets did Tina handle? If she only handled / had (temporary?) possession of one packet, it would be hard to use her as a reason for the three packet Tena Bar money.

I thought it was Derek. He always starts with pictures of Klansnic. Of all the degenerate crap he posts, I wish he'd repost that picture of the Ruby-Oswald Punk Band. That was actually funny.

A distraught woman goes into a local hypnotherapist's office. Sobbing, she explains, "I've been faithful to my husband for nearly twenty years, but yesterday I had an affair. The guilt is eating me up. I just want to forget that it ever happened." The hypnotherapist shook his head and sighed, "Not again..."

Well that caught my attention for a particular reason. I'd never heard it before, was wondering if anyone else had. I posted a question over there, hoping he'll elaborate where he heard that.

Yes, the DB Cooper Forum. The 'Clues, Documents, and Evidence' thread, page 357, 5 posts down, by poster Prospector.

Someone at The Forum said that Cooper had a facial tic. Anyone here familiar with that? Where the information comes from, how accurate it is?

FAA will not be enforcing medical expirations
dudeman17 replied to Bigfalls's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that the FAA does not require that TI's hold a medical. The FAA just wants TI's to meet the manufacturer's requirements, and it's the mfg's and USPA that require the medicals. Also, it hasn't been mentioned here, but are the manufacturers on board with USPA's waiver? -
USPA Rating Renewal Extensions?
dudeman17 replied to Deisel's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Here's a thought that first occurred to me as kind of a joke, but it may well turn out not to be: If everybody goes uncurrent, including I's and IE's, who conducts the recurrency jumps? -
If you're looking for a decent show to binge watch while you're sheltering in place, might I suggest 'Person of Interest'. Yes, it's on-topic.

Well I know about the Amboy chute, but I thought I read on here a few days ago that there were something like 4 or 5 different parachutes found in the area over time. That's what I was curious about. Am I mistaken?
-
You guys have mentioned that there were a number of parachute finds in the area. That strikes me as curious. What more might be known about them? Were they full rigs, with lines, and harness/containers attached? How many people would be making bandit jumps into the wilderness and leaving the rigs behind, and why? Or were they just canopies with perhaps all or most of the lines cut off that people might use for makeshift camping gear, shelter, shade?
-
That's horrible and I feel for you. Depending on conditions and time, can they not send him home on hospice?
-
Well, there is something you could do. But it depends on how anxious you are to learn, how close you are to the dropzone you hope to jump at, and how much extra money you have and are willing to spend. You could hire one of the instructors to come to your home and teach you a pre first jump course. It would give you accurate information to work with, and help out an otherwise unemployed instructor. Just a thought...

USPA Rating Renewal Extensions?
dudeman17 replied to Deisel's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Another factor - I'm just hoping I'll be able to get a Dr.'s appointment when I have to renew my medical in a few months. -
I'm not trying to be argumentative, and I don't dispute your rejection of SP as Cooper. But just for conversation... What do you base that on? What would you consider a 'risky or foolish jump'? In that early era, most of mainstream society considered any jumping foolish. Jumping in a suit wouldn't pose any problems, other than the tie, and he did take that off. Being in the wilderness in inclement weather might pose a problem. What would you have Cooper wear and still blend in with 'normal' passengers. I would hope he had better footwear in that other bag. How would you have him ask for two rigs in simple terms to whuffos? ---- Kind of odd how Eric and Derek showed up, then disappeared at the same times the other night. ---- Drop zones all over are shutting down due to the virus. Makes total sense, we pack into those airplanes like sardines, and especially doing tandems, it's pretty close contact with random people. But damn, my feet are already getting sore from standing on the ground so long.

Well sometimes that info is on the card, it's the rigger's discretion. But the pilot chute wouldn't have it's own card. I keep saying this - Look up JerryBaumchen in the Gear and Rigging section, he's an extremely knowledgable old-school rigger who should be able help you define all of this.
-
No, there wouldn't be. To a rigger packing the whole thing, the pilot chute is kind of incidental, it's make and s/n usually isn't even mentioned on the card. The only time I've seen one mentioned on the card is if the pilot chute and/or bridle is replaced. That one FBI document that seems to mention a second canopy in one of the rigs, an 'integral part' of it, the only way that makes sense is if they're talking about the pilot chute on that rig, and it's a typo saying it's 24 foot, rather than 24 inches. They would have gotten the make and s/n off of the pilot chute itself. Another thing - sometimes the packing card also states the make and s/n of the harness/container. Is it possible that for the mis-matching numbers, one agent wrote the s/n of the canopy, and another wrote the s/n of the container?

Look, I don't like getting in the middle of this kind of stuff, and I probably shouldn't have this time. But, you know, social distancing and all that... But... Fly doesn't agree with your conclusions on the case. And Robert was pissed off at the way you handled the Cooper Convention. That's not trolling, that's disagreement. The document was posted, you even reposted it in one of your replies, you were charged. I'm guessing the charges were dropped when you agreed to the classes. I know how that works from first-hand experience. Long ago and far away in my youth, I was once caught with some weed and ended up in a diversion class. (Most of my other 'experiences' with law enforcement had to do with early base jumping in places where they didn't appreciate it.) But I don't care about any of that. The point was that you were throwing 'libel' at him and I didn't see that. I've watched 'Cops', people get busted for looking sideways at their partner, I don't judge you for anything. I don't give a flying flip what people on the internet might say about me. My sense of self is not dependent on the opinions of people who don't know me. There's an old saying: When I was young, I used to worry about what people thought of me. When I got older, I didn't give a fuck what any one thought of me. Now that I'm older still, I realize - There ain't nobody thinking about me! OK And I appreciate yours. I enjoyed when you used to post about the case here. All of that fascinates me. I don't judge you, I don't dislike you or any one here, I just wish all you people didn't bicker so much. If Twitch were still alive, he'd be laughing his ass off. And to you all as well. I'll try to just go back to making occasional comments about the logistics of parachuting, 'cause that's what I know...

Eric, I do not know you personally. (For that matter, I don't know Flyjack either.) I don't have an axe to grind either way. I'm not a Cooper researcher, I'm just an old skydiver who follows this thread because I've always been fascinated with the Cooper case. I used to read your posts and watch your videos, and found them interesting. I consider myself a logical man. Looking OBJECTIVELY at what I've seen this evening... I see a police/court document that in fact does show that you were charged with domestic violence. It is reasonable to surmise that 'violence' is a form of 'abuse'. When people agree to diversion classes in exchange for charges being dropped, it is generally construed as a tacit admission of guilt. I'm not a lawyer nor a judge, but I have heard more than one of them state that the truth is an absolute defense to libel. I did not see Flyjack even once agree to or even acknowledge your wager. So what's the deal? After a long absence, you and Derek show back up at the same time, spamming and stirring up crap. Is this a coincidence?

Not sure who's displaying less maturity right now - Derek or Eric.
