Nova is my DZ nickname since ~1997. TTT ("Triple T") was my DZ nickname before that. For some reason it made sense years ago to put them together as a username and it became my online default. "Booted" vs "equity" are very different matters. If he wants her to have a financially secure method for leaving if things go south, she should set up a savings account and he can deposit a small amount every month. So can she. Equity in the home should be the provenance solely of those who pay the mortgage. If they enter an agreement and she pays an amount toward the mortgage each month, then she would be entitled to an equity share. If she doesn't, then she is a friendly tenant and shouldn't enjoy the benefits of home equity, other than what Boy is willing to provide. If it were me, I'd keep the house separate from the relationship. It's better for both regardless of the outcome of the relationship. And if things go well for them in the long run, changes can be made regarding legal ownership of the home. .02 "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." FOUND! People who knew my mom post
NovaTTT replied to searching's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Congratulations. I hope you find out more, more people who knew her and maybe get to better know her yourself. Are you a jumper? or are you thinking of jumping? "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73 -
Agreed. That is some excellent work. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

About 8 years ago a cat pissed on the rig of a guy I know. It's been jumped a lot since then. When it's hot and humid it stinks like hell. That's my experience - YMMV "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

It's hard to say. I had seen or met some of the sixteen skydivers. Only Jeff, Mark and Ann could I say I remember. I made my first jump at WWSPC on Sept. 22. I was turned away on the 29th. I continued jumping at the DZ. After Teresa sold to Billy, I was there until he closed. So maybe none of them were friends, but I was astonished and bereaved nonetheless. That's the one. Cowboy's Caravan went in there and took a lot of good good people. jon Jenkinsburg is in Butts county, Georgia. Cowboy's Caravan went down at West Wind SPC. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

I've never seen Velstretch. My concerns would be durability and give. Standard 1" Velcro is pretty durable, both the hook and pile as well as the substrate tape. Velcro isn't going to "give" once you have it mated. Velstretch, by it's nature, is going to give, meaning your altimeter might not want to stay where you put it - and want it to stay. I AM NOT SPEAKING ABOUT UPT, MAKING INSINUATIONS OR COMMENTS ABOUT UPT. THIS IS NOT ABOUT UPT. This happens all the time in industry. The reason, of course, is money, which is to say, profit. The reduction of production costs with a fixed product price results in increased profits. Whether through using less expensive materials, cheaper labour, design changes, etc., the increase in profits is the desired outcome, benefitting the owner or shareholders. I hope you're better prepared than this on any jump. Jump #1 or #1000 - the ability to breakaway and perform EPs is requisite. The panicky, deer-in-the-headlights sort really isn't one who is cut out for skydiving. That's not a winning bet. Practicing your EPs repetetively and visualization drills will prepare you. Rely on your skill, knowledge, judgment and preparedness to keep yourself alive. That's right - it's not a representation of a malfunction. It's a method to actually train for dealing hands-on with a malfunction. The malfunction doesn't matter - it can be a lineover, severe line twists, broken steering line, whatever. What matters is hanging in the harness, looking at, grabbing and pulling the actual handles and getting actual results. It's building muscle memory. Frankly, there are very few unintentional cutaways. Every cutaway ought to be and should be intentional. Practice EPs, get in the harness, use repetetive drills and visualization to be current in your thinking and quick in your responses. The Boy Scouts have it right: Be Prepared. That's remarkable, Bill! Not that you've been involved in about 10 beer commercials but have never had a beer. It's remarkable that a skydiver hasn't had a beer!! "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73 -

Hi, Tony. Sorry if my post seemed harsh but one is genuinely curious about a significant change. You didn't actually say anything that wasn't clear from the previous post. I'm wondering why the cutter location was moved if there is no advantage? If it is in response to a foreseeable or actual binding issue, one thinks that information should be put out there. If it's just because it is felt the new location is better from a non-safety standpoint, say a rigging standpoint, one thinks that should be put out there directly as well. It's just that bit about "preventing the reserve flaps from binding up on a closing loop that was too long." is concerning. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

It not at all is best left for the bonfire. If there is question as to which is the better position, then there is no reason to make the change. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If the original design/location is, shall we say, adequate, then why change it to another adequate location? Aesthetically, it's a hidden variable and changing the location required a redesign of the reserve pilot chute cap. That doesn't sound like a whimsical undertaking. In my opinion, if you moved the cutter to above the PC to avoid the possibility of a closing loop bind this is not a whimsy but rather addressing a real or realistically foreseeable safety issue. It's not cheap to be wrong and try to handle it with kid gloves. Ask Toyota. Now I'm not saying the Infinity is comparable to clearly flawed automobiles - by no means whatsoever. I'm saying, let's call east, east and water wet. There should be more chatter and volume from Velocity Sports about this. And putting Infinity owners on the hook for the full cost of a retrofit seems wrong to me. Yes. After a bit of in plane rigging. ETA: I would still be angry about someone pulling my handle!! And I would be plenty pissed if somebody pulled it on or after exit as it's avoidable. A little something called awareness. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
