Go here and you can submit a request inquiring if they sell the PC separately and, if so, at what cost. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

I'm guessing sdls is removing tandem passengers from the running. I'd like to know if there's a prize to be had. Hand crafted nut-warmers, perhaps? "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

Once again, a single post summarizes all that needs to be said. Once again, said single post is going to be ignored contextually, and argued ignorantly. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

That's just not right. Somebody should do something about that. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

Yes I think you do. You keep coming back here attempting to justify yourself, trying to defend yourself, and seeking the approval of better and more experienced jumpers. You give every indication of caring. Welcome to 1990. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

Then why do you keep coming back here justifying, rationalizing and trying to defend your choice? If you're not looking for approval, why are you here and not out jumping? "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

A well-written post, Dave. Good points, supportive and clear. Having read ahead through the thread, it's tempting to say you wasted your time. However, perhaps another young jumper will read it some day and it won't fall on deaf ears. Nice 'system' in the photo. But where's the Chrysalis? "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

Paraphrase: "I'm Robert Lee. I own Cullman Liquidation. They're mobile homes, not mansions. If this is what you want, come and see me. My wife's boyfriend broke my jaw with a fence post and I was hit in the face 5 times with a crescent wrench. It's not going to hurt my feelings if you don't buy from me. So come see me . . . or not. I don't care." It's pretty honest! "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

By the way, I got the package - Thanks, Paul. Pretty quick delivery - I didn't examine the label so I have nothing to contribute to the who-fucks-up-more discussion. But I think it was US Mail. When I was faced with a similar situation the rig had been out-of-service for 9 years. I brought it up and the guy said he would have it rigged before jumping the next day. Well, it was pencil-whipped and the asshole jumped it full-knowing, then after landing asked me if I would now rig it. He thought he was the shit, admitting to the pencil-whip and 'getting away with it'. Back inside I pulled the handle and walked away - from the guy and the DZ, as the DZO was complicit. Homey don' play dat. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

Hey, man, I'm sorry for your difficulties, but do you actually not understand why the shipper wants yourself or someone over 18 who lives at your address to sign? I can just hear your "other" rant: Why the fuck would they let somebody sign for my package who's not me? The fuckers let somebody steal my shit!! By the way, I also hate those businesses that stay open until 5:30 so I can get there after work. The assholes. Yeah. Somebody should write PD and tell them to stop making that shitty Stiletto. I bet their shelves are full of unsold inventory and they're just too stupid to stop making them. THAT'S innovation. Maybe I'll have to get myself a Vector, now. By the way, it's "bridle" "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

Those rigs are OK, but what you want is a RACER. An' that's all she wrote. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

Yes. Sigma Nu. He will get from it what he wants. If he wants to party and be crazy, he'll find it. If he want to socialize and enjoy the sport and competetive aspects, he'll find that. If he wants to maintain his focus and drive while adding strong connections to his network and strengthen his resume, he'll be able to do that. No different from what is called "the college experience", he'll make friends and create lasting relationships and memories that begin and extend beyond the classroom. It all started with a pilot chute hesitation

You handled the situation and walked away. Well done. If the kill-line broke or separated from the PC you would have experienced a fully-inflated PC, not a collapsed PC. It sounds like the PC was either not cocked or was not completely/sufficiently cocked. This might cause the PC to wash about in the burble as the main deploys - obviously there was enough tension for the main to escape. During this burble-dance, the PC could easily have entangled with the lines. Perhaps it was the entanglement that caused the kill-line to separate - the force of the opening parachute was more than the connection could bear. Take your kit to your rigger and ask him to examine it, including the length of the kill-line. Make sure your PC is properly cocked before jumping! Finally - you handled the incident (nuisance occurance? minor malfunction?) and seem to have remained alert. Kudos. I agree with the concept of further self-regulation. We need more federal oversight like we need a bag on our hip. What is needed from the FAA is clarity. This is what MEL is working on, I believe. It's a shame the FAA screwed it up - 65.111.c.2 shouldn't be ambiguous on Day 1! But to the matter of mains and inspection: Should a rigger spend an hour every 180 days inspecting the main as he does the reserve? For "good will"? I say, "no". The user has the opportunity to and should keep tabs on what is going on with his main - if not on every jump then at least on the first or last jump of the day. There is not much room for excuses if a jumper doesn't keep up with his gear. Even those who use packers can slip an extra fin to the blackfeet to have them give a good eyeball to the kit while packing. But we inspect and carefully pack the reserve because when called upon we intend it to open without fail. A failure to deploy, given sufficient altitude, is a failure of the rigger, excepting non-rigging entanglement. Regardless - I'm happy to do a main inspection and repack when a rig comes in for A.I.R., for reasonable compensation. "Reasonable" is cheap, too - I'm not rigging to get rich, that's for sure. The rigs I A.I.R. are returned to the jumper with the main unclosed if they do not want the main inspected and packed. If it comes to me with the main deployed, however, I'll pack it up. It makes things easier, frankly. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

EFS: Unlike yourself, I am going to make this post and then quit the thread. This highlights the one thing about this thread that is completely annoying; you keep saying you're done posting but you keep coming back. Stop it. Just stop. Insofar as your piloting skills go, maybe you are able to handle the Stil190. Maybe not. One thing is for sure: the posters on Dorkzone haven't seen you fly, know nothing about your progression, your skills or your actual heads-upedness. So it's a complete waste of time to post here. Soup to nuts, alpha to omega, this thread is a waste of all of our time. You're trying to stimulate discussion? Do a search and see all the other Hundred Jump Wonders who have stirred up discussion. Then see how many of them are still in the sport. You've not said, inspired or created anything that we've not seen or heard before. Many times. Yet you wonder at the advice you are given against what you're doing? If you want affirmation, take it to your instructors and piloting coach. You do have a piloting coach, right? Otherwise, you're just going to make a lot of people concerned because we've all seen HJWs hammer themselves into the ground, fuck themselves out of life and limb, and in so doing, bring general unhappiness to those who tried to help. So do us all a favour and stop posting. Everything that needs saying has been said. You're not going to convince anyone that you're better than the average skydiver and they're not going to convince you to step back and remember the sky will always be there. So be safe, don't fuck up and do what you said you would do: GET THE FUCK OUT OF THIS POST!!!
