You have a bad habit of not understanding anything involving this case , For some reason you feel you are smarter than most. That is so far from the truth. I do wonder about your inteligent level when you make post like the one Im responding too. Jerry Sorry. I just spilled corn bread batter all over this keybaoadhd so cant redkfjhfdwbly. I missed nothing and said, quote: "Mel was running from one large Federal crime ... why would he risk an act where being caught or winding up a corpse had a very high probability? Mel's sense of self preservation obviously outweighed everything else. This not a guy who then turns around and actually faces off with THE MAN! (in a hyjacking) Better to schlep off and disappear for real,... " I feel so much better. I also think you're underestimating the 25 years. I'd take 77's word for this but I think 25 was the minimum he was facing (on paper). Happy Farfgiving.

well, there is no meat in it - its all weak broth and no satisfaction for Vicki and her sister. Its a bitch to live with wondering, doubting, even doubting one's self deeply at times. Class Clown change your damned nym. You are no clown! Your statement above proves that. Just a suggestion. Thanks.

Good question. I just follow the herd. What alpha ox started that? Unsolved Mysteries "started" that one. The media = never seems to check the facts prior to the report. Frankly, I havent paid that much attention to Mel for a number of reasons, one of which is modus operendi. Why would a guy like Mel suddenly switch gears and become a parachuting Olympian just to obtain 200k in negotiable currency in what by any account is a very risky operation - vs. - when he had a long career of using copyiers and litho machines forging paper he could pass at Bison-Mart ? Maybe Im missing something. Hijacking an airplane doesnt fit his profile, or the general profile of paper hangers? There are plenty of guys at the Tres. Dept who would have an opinion about that. Hanging paper is a low risk crime, non confrontational vs walking on a plane with a bomb and facing off people 'with a brown paper bag in hand'? In today's market that would be worse than silly, even suicidal. Even in 1971 it was nutty. A lot of people laughed at Cooper's "escapade" which is exactly how many people viewed Coopoer's act. The fact he apparently got away with it ... is that something your Melvin would do vs. printing up some fake bonds?? I worked for several commercial printers while in college. These are not people who take big risks! They may have mistresses, but they generally are a depressive repressed lot ... trying to finance their habits on the monthly plan. Mel was running from one large Federal crime ... why would he risk an act where being caught or winding up a corpse had a very high probability? Mel's sense of self preservation obviously outweighed everything else. This not a guy who then turns around and actually faces off with THE MAN! Better to schlep off and disappear for real, like Silkwood. Ten to one he has more family - somewhere. I think Jerry Thomas is completely off the rail with this. Its just his hobby. You might get further hiering 377 or Porteous? Mel fits into a very solid post-WWII profile. Thousands of kids and families suffered because of this syndrom. It was almost "in the air" after WWII for a host of reasons. Its a huge untold story of America's post World War II legacy, that nobody wants to talk about. I guarantee you. Your family was not unique in this. It doesnt make the hurt less, the hurt is real. Buyt Mel fits into a very well documented pattern. Hyjacking airplanes was NOT in this guy's blood. J Edgar Hoover had to write a lot of letters to families trying to explain why Daddy was no longer around advising young sons and wives and daughters to "get on with life". It was damned good advice! I think that is the pattern your Mel fits into.

All that to say - after looking at a couple of articles I just don't see the figure of $200,000. Was that the amount used in the AMW video maybe?

I thought USA Today was just a newspaper. Didn't know they were on TV. But with so many cable channels these days we're lucky there isn't a Cooper Channel. I wouldn't put it past someone to do that, though. As long as you can effectively sell the commercial time to meet expenses, no problem. Or even a Blevins Channel. I will expect a check mailed tomorrow.

and how to you explain the particles Tom found? Guess we dont get an answer from JT.
-
I have the same question as 377...did Wilson have any jump history...???...hangdiver None known or documented - flat out none. That is precisely what JT is banking on. Cooper was a rank novice in over his head. JT's proof? He has none because none exists. It relies soley on statements from select experts, of which he himself is one ! This aint rocket science. What this is is circular nonsense. On the other hand Mel does resemble one of the early sketches, I guess. And he lost roughly $200k in bogus money he had printed then dumped. Jerry thinks these attributes add up to being Cooper? Its a stretch based on .... feelings? Jerry is not going to take serious questions about this. Would you go out on a limb with this? This is all showboating and nothing more because there IS nothing more. 6 days and counting. REPENT!

Mr. Anyone has therefore died ten thousand times since the Cooper jump? Is that what you are contempting? And your proof of that astounding statement is: ? ? ?

The FBI screwed up BIG time and this was the BIG ONE! Weber, your carnival act flopped years ago. Accept it and move on to snake charming and astrophysics. Dont forget to take your meds.

Maybe I'll just point out that immediately behind georgers attached pic you see no turbulence...the rotors are much further behind the aircraft that would be of any consequence to a jumper and those are wing tip vortices and a bit of other random turbulence. Hey georger...are you making an appearance at the symposium? hangdiver Not going. I live too far away plus I already have family pouring in for the holiday. As 377 pointed out any dead air zone that Coop passed through would last but a split second before entering the BLAST (air resistance). Cooper separates and falls rapidly, t1 ....tn, slows, chute open (who knows), and by all accounts is clear of any effect from the plane (at a lower altitude) by say t+10. Lets call that the standard model, as documented by experts (here) who have done this. Still, even if the standard model is correct any description of the pressure envelope around the rear of that plane must take engines into account. Maybe its just a technical point, but I like examining all variables (just to say I did it). As Cooper is falling the plane pulls further away. High pressure air cones from engines grow wider but lets assume Cooper has fallen below any possible zone of effect from that expanding pressure cone widening with distance. That is unless, the plane tilts up at some critical angle (seeing pressure guage react = Coop has just jumped). We will assume Rataczak did not do that or even if he did it has no effect on Cooper because he has fallen out of any danger zone from the engine blast. I went to several skydiver websites where they describe bailing from jets (incl the 727) and nobody reported any problem due to engine blast etc ... so unless Rat did something intentional to give Cooper a 'jet blast', we will assume this scenario has nothing to do with this case. But, at least it gets mentioned and examined minimally. Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving. G.

We have discussed the "dead air" zone behind the fuselage previously. OK. Im sorry. Lets just let Blevins, Airtwardo, and Class Clown and JT and you set the agenda here. And not post anything else? So Robert99, what will Blevins and his mother be eating on Thanksgiving Day? Give us the inside story! Did you know Blevins wont be attending the Ariel Party or the Symposium - did you get that? Blevins. Post it again. Some may have missed it. Jet engines on airplanes dont matter nohow - yepper! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW! Dead air zone - dead air zone! 8 days and counting.

How so? or continue to be a troll; Class Clown I am ?

what interests me is the placement of these engines relative to the stairs and a drop from those stairs t1......tn. The jet blast from those engines are affecting the pressure envelope and air flow at the rear of the plane in motion (to some extent for a few seconds even after Cooper separates and the plane moves ahead). Keep in mind the wheels are down; a turbulence zone behind. see attached -

It is true. With the rear open no air would be flowing through the cabin except for whatever little bit the air conditioning and pressurization system may have produced. No air flow through because there was nowhere forward for the air to enter. Some air movement could occur. Come in through one area of the door and back out through another. But it would be only slight. One would feel coolness on the face. Light things could flutter. The air movement is like vibration, back and forth, not a steady stream. A dropped feather would fall rather than heading for the door. Air would not have been a valid reason for tethering Tina. It would be in the event she stumbled or fell because of turbulence or something. Air flow in the cabin or high up in the stairwell could not have moved food around in the cabin. The tiny airflow going out the aft door can't be estimated because it would be the result of factors for which we have no info. The main one would be how much air the cabin pressurization system was pushing through. The effect of this would be like you feel in the cabin of any airliner. Get up and stand in the aisle. Do you feel that wind blowing you down the aisle? No. That's how much effect the airflow on flight 305 could have had on things in the cabin. ok, thanks to Hominid and 377. So in essence we have a longish closed tapered cylinder whose moment is centered on the CG, traveling through a medium of air, with a hole on the bottom side aft end. And, three large jet engines expelling compressed gas (at a horrendous rate) above and to the sides of the same back end, just above Cooper on the stairs ? Those three engines help in shaping the whole pressure envelope at the back of the plane ... including on the under side Cooper will pass through in fractions of seconds, and help affect the equilibrium of the stairs (in addition to the force of air due to the plane's motion)?

Questions: note instrument package at rear bulkhead during test - see photos. Presume the inlet for the pressure guage mounted at this rear bulkhead is right there along with the instrument? Inlet for rate-of-climb guage in cockpit is at the back of that instrument (in the cockpit with the instrument)? So in essence, the test guages were not positioned in the same location for the test as during the actual flight ? Distance separating the two would be ??? (length of aircraft) ? Ckret said no air curent detectable in rear seat during the test, with door open and stairs down ? In fact he said a fellow sitting in that seat was holding papers and 'they barely moved' ? Can that be true and to what extent ? How much air pressure differential are we really talking about here, beyond what the instruments would measure ? Something you could feel? Something that would move papers and light objects around ? (There was a concern Tina be tied in when opoening the rear door, which came from the pilots! Cooper aleviated Tina of that task.) Something that could create the food splattering found mid way through the cabin at the galley station? PLEASE do not repeat: air pressure outside = P inside. We know that. Once the door is open, what volume of air is passing inside to outside at what rate per second? even an estimate because I havent the faintest idea and anything I dream up would be total conjecture and wrong. The real issue at stake is is 'force'. see attached -

Interesting question...but if it did have a 4-line, putting him in the saddle at night, I would have to wonder IF he would even see it, know what it was or how to use it. 377 is ALWAYS looking for some obscure improbable explanation for the ordinary ? attorney gobblewobble. In the real world, the moment Cooper pulled that chute out to cut lines, that chute contained and distributed particulate matter unquestionably, which is distributed to everything in the area including Cooper's tie, whether he was wearing it or just nearby. Cossey's chute is probably the source for some of the particles found on the tie -not all but some. What matterials are to be found in Cossey shop or packing area? Its common sense.
-
was there a machine shop inside the chute cooper pulled out? could some of the particles on the tie have come \ from exposure to the canopy pulled out? did cossey do maching working with Ti etc ?

PPG was into optics...Braden worked for a glass company...I don't know if Snow nailed down which one but I find it interesting anyway Just following rabbit trails... hangdiver company history of PPG here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PPG_Industries PPG has never made optics to my knowledge. They have supplied materials to others who do. Otherwise: which type of pure Ti do Tom/Allen have? We generally distinguish between 4 grades of commercially pure titanium which greatly depend on their oxygen content: DIN 37025 (Ti 1), DIN 37035 (Ti 2), DIN 37055 (Ti 3), DIN 37065 (Ti 4).
