They may be real busy with military products.

I'm glad there are more options in the wingsuit market. And the only way that these guys will stay in business is if people buy their suits. I had no intention of buying an S-3 but fell in love with it after trying it and decided I wasn't giving it back. I know exactly what you are talking about and you are right. But people that need more skill development probably need it no matter what suit they fly. And I agree with Ed get to the flocks, your flying will improve. As not everybody is where the flocking is going on the suits will have to go to them. More used suits on the market will mean that there will be a greater chance that some flyers won't be stuck flying alone forever. I've never met a wingsuit I didn't like. If a jumper is dangerous we can work on that if they are willing to flock and improve. The downside is less resale value for your used suit.

Jeb Corliss Gets Set For World Record Landing Attempt
VectorBoy replied to JeepDiver's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I forget the numbers exactly, something 90 seconds or more from 3,000 feet. Ed do you remember the time quoted in Radix? -
Not all flat flyers are men. I agree with JP. I see nothing wrong with touching men's grippers. You can touch my grippers anytime Rosa, and I want JP to film everything. Caliente!

If I'm here and you are here also isn't it our flock?

Jeb Corliss Gets Set For World Record Landing Attempt
VectorBoy replied to JeepDiver's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Hey Vectorboy, you've quoted these figures a few times. Really quite incredible. That is an average fal rate around 20 mph!! Is there anyway you could share the video or GPS data?? J I would love to but I don't own the video yet. I watched it at the Flyboyz film festival. It won the daddy phats award. The whole video is a mix of freefly and base. It was produced by some guys from northern california but I think it includes flyers from all over the world in locations all over. I can't remember the title but it had the 90 second sugerglider segment. I don't remember who the pilot was. The whole thing is full of cutting edge jumps a lot of BASE so I would think the footage had been shown more inside the veil of ethics than outside of the BASE community. I had seen the sugerglider segment before someplace else but I don't remember where. Maybe Tom A could help out. -
Isn't John a BMI who is still at Eloy Chuck?

Edited to add : do you have a pic available to show how you "load" teh Matter suit ?? Still can't imagine how it would work with a bungee. Would you have to pull the back between the legstraps ?? If the zippers go from the harness opening up to the collar then you don't have to remove the butt bungee. If the zippers go down to the wings trailing edge like the latest version of the S-fly then it must be removed for flight.

Is your thick material polycotton? Where did you get it?

Jeb Corliss Gets Set For World Record Landing Attempt
VectorBoy replied to JeepDiver's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Some guys that have played with the sugerglider are getting this. There is video of the sugerglider being used in the base environment that is fanastic in the slow flight- slow fall department. I forget the numbers exactly, something 90 seconds or more from 3,000 feet. I would look for a suit with this type of flight profile used in a landing attempt. Using a suit that glides flatter through better lift at higher speed sounds like landing the X-15. A messy suicide belly flop. Hell even some of the X-15s landings were messy. -
Skydive Southern California CLOSED DOWN?
VectorBoy replied to Kbone's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
From what I can tell the management is excellent. -
EEwwwwwww! freaky is one thing a visual record of it is just wrong!
-
You just like touching another mans ass grippers several times per skydive admit it.
-
Haven't used one since starting WS. BTW suits like the Crossbow, S-fly, Matter, sugerglider allow you to keep the butt bungie in place. Butt, you could always french link the butt bungie to just in case you jump with a FF coach that insist you use one, I can think of a few that do.

Jeb Corliss Gets Set For World Record Landing Attempt

The only way that I can think of it is using a suit that carrys very little forward speed while maintaining a very slow descent rate and landing onto not a groomed snow slope but instead into thick powder that is stable. -
Jeb Corliss Gets Set For World Record Landing Attempt
VectorBoy replied to JeepDiver's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Loic flew his suit on a slope that he still had range on. In other words I doubt that it was at his max glide angle but instead one that he could pop-up and a way from if needed. But if you watch him bird-dog the cReW formation on the beginning of the disc you can see him actually climb in relation to the formation and, despite slow-mo, I bet he is still flying slower then. Don't get fixated on flying down a slope. You wouldn't have to land going straight down the fall line but instead across a slope from the side. This way you can bail if the approach is not optimum and you can pick the angle and speed. Lets not get one demensional either. The plan could be to fly into some kind of bungie net stretched across a gorge. Jeb has already flown down the gorge. You just need a specially built "soft" net. Kinda like some x-treme moto stunts artists have done. But because of the speeds you need soft. Don't get me wrong, I don't know what the plan is other than crazy, I wouldn't be doin it. -
My classic was a right on fit but both of my S-3s were not sized for me and I like the fit better. You don't have to feel that you are ripping the booties when you fly just fill the suit when you extend your feet. This will not work on the mono-wing suits as you have to properly tension the shoulder-arm- bootie to get the most from them. The suit is the whole wing and the whole suit should have tension.
-
I have two suits that are sized for someone at least 2 inches bigger than I am and they work great. In fact a little bigger in height has become my defacto preference for BM wingsuit sizing.
-
A properly flown sugerglider descends slow enough, in the low 30s, and doesn't carry tons of forward speed to dissipate, much less than any of the suits that achieve the best glide ratios. One of those could be landed very soon. Not by me. The landing surface wouldn't have to be flat but could indeed be steep and hopfully fluffy. Its all crazy to me so I won't argue yes or no.

Jeb Corliss Gets Set For World Record Landing Attempt
VectorBoy replied to JeepDiver's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Oh, okay. Sorry. I haven't met them and I was sent a bunch of photos from those jumps. My bad. Care to share the pics with us? It will undo all of your "bads" for months to come. -
Jump pilot call or not, in this country out in the boonies at uncontrolled airports there is a fair amount of air traffic that does not even monitor the local unicom. They may have been involved with center and switch to uni a few seconds before pattern entry after visually scanning the pattern. By this time you are under canopy. And there are many that don't have, don't use a radio. If your dropzone is a haven for experimentals or sailplane training, not just as a base but possibly as a way point ( ie fly over the pattern at between 5,000 and 10,000 ), definatley expect this. Spot your exit people. Wingsuiters look where you are going and not just across the flock. It is shared airspace. If you are worried about this talk to your jump pilot. They have area familiarity and have kept their eyes and ears open on every load. They can tell you what to expect.

That is for the Pros. You should have seen Loic, Ed, Perry, Chuckie and others doing some of that stuff this weekend. Kris. We better see some video of this weekend... or it never happened.

I recently learnt how to get that forward speed really going and that is fun. Of course the real fun is being able to fly in a tight formation with others. Kris. What about safe aerobatics in tight formation with others? Glen

Picky, picky. Notice the photos credits go to Loic. I wonder if he has been sharing knowledge from his experiences on nape of earth flying to Jeb?
