Very progressive, and I'm sure very exciting. Over here you still see skydiving Demos at airshows with big slow chutes, high openings, slow accurate landings. Banners, flags and smoke are what make it interesting but its still tame to what you see on the dropzone on any given day....... But you know what? The people still love it as much or more than most of the aircraft flight demos. Went to one just yesterday. A 2 pass 19 sequenced hop&pop due to overcast that was orginally planned to be High exit Rdub with smoke. Didn't matter the crowd still loved it probably best of all. The whole time I was spectating and trying to figure out how to do a 2-way downwind wingsuit jump with smoke and still have a respectable opening.

We use a Porter, and with one of the pilots I can stay with him till 5000ft AGL when I need to break for home or walk. Debriefing the dives is a lot of fun as the pilot doesn't jump - and so has a lot of respect for people who can fly "Like a little missile chasing the plane" t Tonto does your porter pilot maintain the aircraft in a forward slip, use beta or just feather the prop to keep it slow enough? I have never flown a wingsuit from a porter are they "dirty" enough not to gain 20-30 knots on us wingsuiters when both flyer and craft on are comparable glide slopes? All of my Otter RW work has the plane slipping away but it is a nice view for a great many seconds.

In hopfully most wingsuit jumps you are deploying your main higher than normal. You have time to recognize and deal with a mal, in most cases, if you follow this standard. I have taken an almost preverse pleasure, during my rides, in going back into slower and straighter belly to earth wingsuit flight after my hard, hard back spinning malfunction cuttaway before deploying my reserve. The world stopped spinning and comming at me as fast as when I was under my hard-spinning diving malfunctioning main. Reserve deployments on all mals were all sub terminal and straight. This was afforded by deploying high to begin with and could not have been done otherwise. Few things as frightfull as line twists under a reserve. The only two I can think of would be line twists under a reserve while very low and second reserve twists low while still zipped up in a wingsuit . Been there and seen it... from the ground. No thanks I'll pass. Although one reason you may want an RSL for winged flight would be if you flew a suit that, either by design or size, could possibly swallow your reserve handle after you cut away your main.

Some wingsuit manufacturers are makeing "wing" or tracking suits to fill a gap between just body flight and true gliding winged body flight.... Like Pantz and the partial winged upper-lower suits. It sounds like some of the freefall suit designs will close the gap from the other side.

i was shown the 'the atmonauti position' (TM) loong before i ever heard the term as a good method to stay relative in a slow moving track...of course it was referred to as 'crabbing' and generally meant you were letting the rabbit know "i'm not working at all here....pick it up bitch... I'm curious as to whom introduced you to the Crab position and the thought that it may have been someone who had been on some pre- evolution- of the atmonauti. Your DZ is one of many that world wide flockers frequent . I personally don't care what its called but I wouldn't be fond of the term crab-mo-naughty being used instead and crabbing just means something else entirely to me.

unnecessary new terminology for pre-existing activities just so you can claim "revolution" and pretend you invented something... I've Been on a lot of "skilled tracker" dives. With the Flyboyz, Alchemey, Omar, some people who base and a huge host of others . Sometimes flat and straight sometimes loose for big groups and the occasional "combat" track...... "tag you are it" kind of stuff. Never seen exactly this until Marco and Gi showed us. But I've never been to Mars or Venus. Are you sure you are not confusing the display of painfully poor body position during what should have been a track that just results in a steep descent with the still shots of the infamous atmonauti position?
-
hmm sounds like your average 'skilled tracker' dive to me... but oh well... This eats at your soul, man..... and that is funny

That is nice suit man!

Wingsuit manufacturers usually have measurement instructions on their order forms but that is for a new suit. Its hard to tell if a second hand suit will fit you without trying one on unless it fits someone else with pretty close body measurements...... Remember it doesn't have to be a perfect fit. A little big is ok and a little small is ok as long as it doesn't put undue stress on the material. You don't want to be hanging from your suit material instead of being supported by your harness while under canopy. And there is also plenty info on blown out zippers in these forums. Stressing your suit doesn't help this. Your handle should be fine as long as it is attached to a throw out system.

What is a blot?

Probably more like a tracking jump as some horizontal distance is covered, hopefully with a track 90 degrees off jump run. Where in the exit order depends on the size of your group and how many seconds it will take for everyone to get in position. with big groups we've gone out first and absolute last. With smaller groups you fit in the standard FF order based on size. Two separate groups on the same aircraft make thing interesting but no more interesting than two wingsuit flocks or two separate tracking groups. Ya gotta keep em separated.

That rush hour isn't just in OC but also in north San Diego county. Its no worse than the OC variety. My advice is to stay through the sunset load and maybe a little social after. Traffic is going to suck either way might as well get the SS load for it. Both good DZs, Both worth your visit. And now BACK to the jet.

Biggest change I noticed was huge back deflector (S3 style). On the S-3 the back deflector is a pass thru from the front vent. Was it like that on the M3 prototype you'd seen or is it unchanged from the normal mono-wing vent and just a larger deflector?
-
I believe that there some incremental improvements over what was the M2. More of an evolution based on the customer input. I noticed a bigger crotch inlet over the standard. Some of the newer suits have a bigger back deflector than before . I heard that the leg zippers have been moved to the outside seam like the other wingsuits instead of the old front quartering inside seam found on most mono-wingsuits, which sometimes could be a pain for less flexible jumpers under canopy. Some of the mods that I've done to mine just for ease of use: I've inverted the back zippers ( s-fly style) making it easier to mate to the rig. I've lowered the Euro style collar ( personal preference). And changed the leg wing trailing edge binding to a tape instead of the original elastic found on the M2. I'm hoping to give the leg wing tension without having the elastic add rebound to any oscilation. This last mod is untested and I'm hoping that I haven't compounded the ocasional flutter that some people get that has led to the increase in the crotch inlet design. I'm looking forward to any pictures, information and flyer feedback on Matter wingsuit improvements myself.

What is "innovation" and "daddy phat"??? In the past some clips that fell under innovation had some nice effects or unique directorial quality and not all from in this category were about skydiving. The daddy phats is kinda the big winner. Its nice if a clip has some great aerial footage but another film was more well rounded overall, you can pick one for each.
-
Does anyone have experience with this? Looking for submission criteria, judging criteria, catagories, etc. The Boyz festival, as an example, has four categories: Aerials, inovations, comedy and the daddy phats. As far as judging they hand out a questionaire and the audience votes after whatching the show.

I didn't see even 1 wingsuit flyer in Perris.....

That wasn't politics. That was a challenge. Politics would be , for example, accusing someone of operating unsafely in the presence of first flighters despite hours of video verifying this isn't true. Or saying that someone does something that just doesn't happen in order to paint a negative picture of the individual or group. Using the excuse that something someone else does or has done in the past has and will keep you from doing your best and contributing what you can, thats politics........ and a cop-out. Before this post / tread gets locked or deleted lets just say that any effort by anyone that truelly is positive for wingsuits as far as instruction/ promotional events would be fully supported by me and everyone I know that flocks. Politics will be greeted with more counter-politics as per the current status quo. -
As to the question at hand I believe I answered it in the prior post. Yes you did answer my question.... and made me hungry for breakfast with that stuff about eggs.

Glen are you confusing this with the "minuteman" program? Mattermen deliver some of the most glorious "minutes" of your life..... plus video. In your case you will get a kiss too!

About this challenge..... if there are any takers I need to know soon, as you all are aware that the summer season is starting soon, a couple weeks from now I'll be on the dropzone...... I'll have a few extra suits...... one thing will lead to another....... someone who has been wingsuit curious will walk up, admire the suits of the flock, notice the glee on their faces. Or worse come up with sad, sad tale of not having anyone to instruct them. We size them up, they ask questions, we ask questions..... Then..... Bamm! Then its too late and they are already hooked on the crack ! You missed. So like I said let me know if there are any serious takers on the Perris certified wingsuit school . If not we can all get back to bitching and moaning about little kingdoms and things that mean nothing to the overall wingsuit experience....... Oh and we'll see some of you at the Perris memorial boogie. Fly high and avoid unplanned contact with the Otter! -

I know what you mean, or should I say whom you mean. Gotdammit Ed I was doin' so good at stay'in out of this one too Man..... but oh no ya had to go there. Wasn't I helpful with advice to you in the past in regards to getting more takers on your BMI course down here? Haven't I stated that we needed a local BMI presence in these forums? Nope I get labelled the antagonator (tm). Dammit that ain't right MAN! NNNNNNNNNNn Kay. I got a challenge for you pencil heads. I will stay clear of, that is me and my one man antagonistic rhetoric parade, from said dropzone for the full calender year ( with the exception of three summer Saturdays from the afternoon till sunset during which I promise to keep my opinions to my nasty self) so that there may be established a full time regularly accessible wingsuit instructor school, again on said dropzone. I'm not talking about instructors gotta be there everyday just that students shouldn't have to wait months for a first flight course. Keep in mind this may take effort...... even a modicum of any effort to get the ball rolling on the part of those interested in doing this establishing. Something that is been ethereal so far. But I promise not to sabotage any of these efforts in action or words. Now for the put your money where your mouth part: If you fail to succeed within a calendar year you will pony up to me a nice new wingsuit . This last gesture should not be construed as GREED on my part...... NO- NO! It will only be a means to for me to train up a nice new fresh squadron of upcoming wingsuit students........ The ones existing factory instructors failed to train with their non-existing instructor course the previous calendar year. Any takers? Any instructors up to this challenge? Anybody willing to put up the required amount of effort? Or is this tread another Fugazi? -
Not wanting to get into the the never ending debate of how and whom should be able to teach students to fly wingsuit, I'm not touching this one with a ten foot pole! But....... I am LOVIN this! And now we return you to our regularly scheduled......

You've been hangin' out in Perris too long Glen... Be safe. Ed You are right and I don't think I will be good for anything else after this.
