  1. I heard, but can't verify, that the h-mod commonly used on cobalts were first developed to tame Hornet openings. Added bonus better dive and flare ( my experience on the cobalts). You can verify by giving Joe Bennet a call.
  2. I heard the tabs on joe's H-mod are bigger than the original H-mod done by Howard. Can't wait hear how you like it. I love my cobalts Howard mod.
  3. I know you stir things up on occasion, but I don't think your passion has ever been questioned! Am I correct? t Passion, No. Motives, skills and intentions yes and thats not a bad thing. But passion never.
  4. Because a large majority of wingsuit pilots fall into 2 catagories. A) Higher jump number skydivers that never really developed the social skills to play well in groups, and have trouble learing something new with others simply because they might be seen as not being "good" at it. -and- B) Lower jump number skydivers who have not developed any social skills but want to look and be reguarded as "cool" long before they have the skillset to properly learn wingsuit flight. You hit the nail right on the head with these and I completely agree with you on the two above but would like to add two more: C) The kind of jumper that mocks others that take themselves too seriously. Which is in and of itself a display of the lack of social skills, ironically, ridiculing someone else with bad social skills. But its still funny. D) The kind of individual that does things on there own terms, their own way outside the status quo. This isn't a social skills issue but it will bring out the some bad social vibes from others that don't agree.
  5. I don't think the manufacturers have anything to do with the gripes ( I don't know every gripe and could be wrong). We can't blame one suit maker over another, they have nothing to do with it. Suits are lifeless objects without the pilots, who have, Its Egos..... Have you ever heard that skydivers are the greatest people if you can get past their egos?
  6. I have multiple suits and no loyalty to one manufacturer. Some people claim there is bias towards some posters by some moderators/ instructors/ manufacturer representatives. I know they don't like their ideas challenged yet have no problem challenging or flaming others opinions. Because, like you said its the most active forum for this stuff. Sometimes action brings friction. Quote Plenty Ideas, none I can share for fear of being flamed...... Just kidding. My Idea is it just doesn't matter. Some people want to focus on their special corner of the spot light and some just want to learn and fly. You can do a whole lot of learning and flyingwithout the friction. This is just my opinion and you all may commence flaming when your ready.
  7. Who fixed my typo? Whoooo this is x-files scarry.
  8. Do posts vanish unexplicably on flybirdman.com like they do on here too?
  9. Are you using a flamethrower for a spotlight again?
  10. working with the textbook and a coworker who has taken the class. It's not all that hard, and it's kinda fun.
  11. What "if" you are engaged with simple fun flocking and the vast majority is also flying S-3s or V-1s and also flying in a group with comparable skill levels? Its more relaxing to fly the faster suits the way they were designed instead of slow on the backside of their envelopes to keep down & slow with a gti or classic.
  12. Oh I understand what you are saying and agree. I'm referring to the pantz themselves. Front side has more potential for inflation, lift and drag. The backside is a little "too slick". This is one of my peeves about this product, in regards strictly to the BM pantz, I wish the texture was the same back or belly. It is very evident in formation tracks or atmonuati. I thought about installing an applique to the lower calves similar to the front but its too many layers to sew through and still guarantee inflation as designed.
  13. I don't think the BM pantz do as well when flying on your back.
  14. Aircraft need this because it is a rigid structure. Birds don't need them because their bodies are very aerodynamically variable. Wingsuiters fall in the middle ground but we are still very body flexible. BTW I believe more and more aircraft of the future will rely less on verticle stabilizers and use other methods like our present day B-2 and some of the tailess drones we see. Just an opinion.
  15. They are not really car chases. They are car Vs car plus squadron of helicopter races.
  16. Besides the point raised by Leroy about FAA... can you imagine any DZO (much more "cool" than FAA in general) who would even let a jumper attempt this at their DZ on a regular basis? Some DZ's have a hard time with wingsuits already... The FAA only cares if Aircraft are involved. DZOs only regulate what goes on at their DZs. Meanwhile you can fly your body anywhere there is suitable "airspace" Fixed object jumpers have been avoiding both of the above and enjoying their own spaces. Question is will aircraft be needed in this attempt and who will "regulate" these apparatus?
  17. Huggers?..... I hope you don't mean that in a bad way?
  18. Dude, we have threads for that. Let's keep this one on topic, okay? Tom, my shit was tongue and cheek. except for the part of more than one friend going for the landing challenge. Thats real and on topic now back to uze guyz in the dot .com studios.
  19. Lodi is not a USPA DZ. Your waiver is on the back of your jump ticket if you've ever looked! I love Lodi and i've never jumped there.....yet.
  20. I see a lot of tinkering jumpers have developed their own as the manufacturers are not willing to release something that they are not fully confident in every packers hands. I myself am waiting for the "Eric berger" bag Tm. I got faith in you youngin. Do us up safe. This may not make you a millionaire but it might buy you a flash ride that other IT guys would be jealous of! Chick-a- boom-chick-a- bow- wow.
  21. Come on be nice, you are a moderator lead by example. Besides Jeb's attempt I know of a couple other guys attempting to attempt this same feat. I wish them all the least anguish and the most success. Besides if we had some more real developements in the the blade and Phi arena people wouldn't post more querries about landing attempts.
  22. Check with your Gen aviation resources. FSDO's and others,.... most of the chambers are opened up for Ga pilots to get a grip on the hypox onset for safteys sake.
  23. Everything LouDiamond has written is correct. Yes except the part where he called Jason, Francis. That part was completely incorrect.
  24. No Matter, Cedric is from Belgium. And its one thing that the Austin Powers series of action film has taught me is you can't trust anybody from Belgium. Just kidding I love those Belgeeks!
  25. Just trying to scrape up the bucks for a wingsuit. This guy in Europe has exactly the suit I want ... I just have to decide whether to pay off my credit cards or mail him $800. That is simple, if $800 will cover the cards, pay'em off. The surplus of suits will be there. Actually there will be more as people dump what they have for the latest and greatest new thang going instead of flying what they have now to work up their skills. But Rob, my perception is from the fact that I have been a clearing house for good quality used suits and for the last three years have had no less than three in the bag, sometimes more.
