  1. Legend has it that the Cleveland Indians were so named to honor Louis Sockalexis, supposedly the first Native American to play professional baseball. Some say the story is true, some say it is not. Is it racist? That depends on whether one wants it to be. The Browns are named after their first coach, Paul Brown, who was a former Ohio State football coach. Not a racist name in any way unless you neglect it's origins. 2. Thank God they don't name them after race horses. "Hurricane Snickerdoodledandy" (Yes, that's a real name of a real horse.) Or maybe they should. http://www.horses-and-horse-information.com/horsenames/a.shtml HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

  4. Yeah there war war trials from 1946-1948 not as publicized as the Nuremburg trials though. To the OP, great freaking video. Thank you. Finally after the many ignorant replies, we get a relevant one. Do you have the name of the trials or a link? Here's a start. http://www.worldwar2database.com/html/warcrimes.htm Info plus links to other sites with more info and even more links. It was pretty tough to find. I had to Google "Trials for Japanese War Crimes" to find it. 5. Real fucking awesome. The greatest gen for sure. Fucked thing is that at that time, Japanese guards watching American POW's were killing many of them in anger. Were there trials for that shit? What? The History Expert asking us something that he should know?? Gotta dump on his video? Nice. Uhhh,,, dude....I didn't say anything about the video. Pay attention and lose the anger. 8. All of which cause the country to be run in an aweful fashion and perhaps even tilt the earth's rotation. Amazing, the rest of world is nothing but thrilled with Obama's election, all connies have to do is bitch about his wife's attire. Still suffering from the Dubya Syndrome, eh? Thats the "if they ain't with me, they're against me" attitude. You have a lot more in common with Dubya than you know! 9. While I feel she should have dressed at least "business casual", I don't think it's something worth getting my shorts tied up in a knot over either way. Her attire was far better than some of the God-Aweful dresses she chooses. 11. Gee whiz, Bill....once again we have to explain the simple stuff to you. If Obama has no American flag visible, then that is proof he is a terrorist from Kenya who wants to destroy the US and kill your grandma. Or convert the US to socialism or a totalitarian government or something like that. If Obama HAS an American flag visible, then that is proof that he is trying to cover the fact that he's a terrorist from Kenya who wants to destroy the US and kill your grandma. Or convert the US to socialism or a totalitarian government or something like that. What more proof could you want? 12. This is the same horseshit reason GWB gave for not visiting the area but for a quicky fly-over after Katrina. The 2 disasters are quite different, here, Obama can only do administrative duties in making BP pay and for BP for stop the leak as quickly as possible. Whereas Katrina was know about days or weeks in advance and GWB could have had the guard there standing to aid people. The 2 disasters and COMPLETELY different in regard to rescue/relief, Obama's presence hinders exactly zero and shows he's personally surveying the situation, now he has to firce your beloved oil companies off their 75M damage cap, it'll be fun to watch you spin that one considering the RW is kinda stuck here in that they hate Obama, but also hate anything that damages big corporation. Yep, blame Bush for people refusing to leave when told to evacuate. Typical Liberal stance to blame somebody else for their own fuckup. Exactly what good would it have done for Bush to have landed in a hurricane devasted area while rescues were underway? What good does it do for Obama to visit the Gulf region four times? SLC

Others have pointed out the shydiving, climbing, etc. that is available in/near SLC. If you are into motorsports there is a very nice road course nearby and the fastest racetrack in the world, the Bonneville Salt Flats, is only 90 miles to the west. Two places to eat that are a must: Squatters in downtown SLC, and the Salt Flats Cafe at the Salt Flats exit just before Wendover. 15. Oooh . . . uh . . . interesting book, but not actually something a person should use to study for their PPL at this point. The unfortunate truth is that even though the book is a classic and "feels" correct, it's not actually correct when it comes to things like aerodynamics. This comment will, of course, bring about a fairly large discussion about aerodynamics, but that's my point. What you want to learn for your PPL is what the FAA says is the correct answer, not how to debate the topic. True, the student must give the answer the FAA wants to hear...and it isn't always the best answer. But the book goes a long way towards understanding how to fly and aircraft vs just operating one. The usual books are great for technical details but lack helping a student develope a feel for an aircraft and their situational awareness. So, with those points in mind, I disagree with your assertion that it is not a book one should use to help study for their PPL. I feel it has a great deal to offer a student, especially when it comes to flying with your head "outside" the aircraft. 17. One that was suggested by my examiner on my practical, and I wished I had known about it during my training, is "Stick and Rudder" by Wolfgang Langewiesche. 18. There is no correct number of times for him to visit. Whatever number it is, the right will whine that it's wrong. Oh, but Belgian isn't the right wing , he voted for Obama Well, you finally made an accurate post. Congratulations.
  19. Sorry, I just feel like bitchin'. When Obama made his first trip to the Gulf, I thought it was in order and what he should be doing. When he made his second trip, I though, "Ok, so the second is a photo op". Now he is on his fourth trip. What can he possibly do to help the situation by going there that he can't do from the White House? The money spent on flying his butt down there would be better spent helping people whose lives are turned upside down by this whole ordeal. Doe she expect the oil to stop flowing because AF-1 flew over?? I voted for the guy, but this is a waste of resources that could better be used to help people. 21. Not trying to talk you out of it, as i got my PPL knowing i would rarely use it, but you need to be honest about your finances. If you can barely afford to get your PPL you will find it no easier to fly enough to stay current AND proficient. Once you get your certification the learning has only begun. But even if you get your PPL and never fly again, it is worth every penny!

  23. "Is it the end of the earth if 6061 cannot be welded autogenously? Just use TIG" That's freakin' funny! I'm going to print that out and hang it above my desk! Aircraft skins that are welded? How about the space shuttle fuel tank. Important enough for ye? Nope, it's not 7075. The newer tanks are made of an alloy that is much harder to weld than even that. 24. From the power available at the wheels. So where is the energy to turn the wheels coming from? This must be the true definition of a circular argument? I understand what you are saying, I just don't agree. I think you are having the same issue understanding it that I did until i put Bill & Kallend's explanations together. Maybe this will help... The wheels drive the prop. The prop spins and part of its energy is lost to aero drag, but enough is converted to thrust to propel the cart ahead. Now come the catch. Due to the incoming air having additional energy to impart to the prop the prop has more than enough energy to do it's job. The enrgy comes from the air moving past the prop at one speed and the ground moving under the cart at another. I know it don't sound right, but if Bill and Kallend say it does then that's good enough fer me. 25. -Let's see...the weight of a Focus pressing down on an area the size of a half dollar. Hmmmmm....that just could be force/area, which could be psi? Just maybe??? Size of the lines doesn't matter....2300 psi is 2300 psi whether in a hydraulic line or at the bottom of a column of water. There is a difference between force and pressure. - Sure most are a pain in the ass, but that doesn't mean they are all worthless. -Not always a room full of engineers. Often we have people from production lines, even janitors and those with CJ degrees, sit in on discussions to get views from "outside the box". -No, you never answered my question correctly. The only thing you said was "P-Factor!" over and over and over... The question was how the change in direction influenced handling, not how rotation regardless of direction influenced handling. You didn't know then, you still don't. -Sure 6061-T6 is very common and weldable. But it cannot be welded autogenously...do you know why? It's very important if you go to weld on it. But 6061-T4 is often used instead if the part is to be welded. Do you know why? It's pretty important, esp. if you work on aircraft. What of 7075? What would you do if you needed to weld two sheets? -Without seeing the part and knowing how it was bonded I can't say if I would have been able to help. -I've told you what I do, but I feel no need to "brag" about it.
