Cali Gay Marriage Opinion to be Released Today
Belgian_Draft replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
You are still wrong, Bill. Everyone can get married. Love is not a condition of marriage. It is very common for people to get married for reasons of convenience with no emotional attachment ever day. Your friend is free to marry any person he wants as long as that person is female. You and I live by the same laws. Just because your friend isn't happy with the legal definition of marriage doesn't mean it is wrong or needs to be changed. I also have gay friends who are upset that they can't marry their significant other. It just so happens that the main reason most of them want to get married is so they can take advantage of the previously mentioned tax breaks and benefits married people enjoy. Do away with those benefits and the crys about inequality would diminish to a whisper. People who are truly in love don't need a governments blessing on their choice of a life partner. I was sort of talking about this around the campfire during a weekend canoe-camping trip. The subject came up about how dumb horses are. And my response was that horses have been around since dinosaur times, so they must be doing something right. But then, maybe it's just their running speed that has allowed them to survive all those eons of threats. So if you have the ability to run real fast, maybe you don't need to be that smart. (Hang in there, I know you're wondering how this story relates to the topic at hand.) And humans, with all of our modern conveniences, have sort of learned the equivalent of "running real fast". We don't have to be real smart any more. We use GPS for navigation instead of map and compass, or stars. We use calculators for math, instead of pencil and paper. We have imbued our machines with common sense, to the point where we don't need it ourselves any more. Take away someone's GPS and calculator, and they can't find where they're going, or balance their checkbook. We're becoming a lot like horses. Horses have survived this long for one reason: Run first, rationalize later. It's about the only way a prey species can live long enough to reproduce. Common sense has been disapearring for a long time. Not helping the situation is universities and colleges hiring staff who have little or no work experience in the real world. Research profs are very well educated and have a lot to offer students, but the knowledge that only a person who has been there-done that can never be passed on by some who hasn't been there or done that. You're comparing apples and carrots. And just as wrong. The marriage laws in California do not discriminate on any level. Every person is treated the same regardless of race, creed, color, sexual preference, or eye color. Neither you or I can marry a male in California, but any lesbian willing to could. Separate but equal is still alive. Married people get tax breaks that single people don't as well as other benefits. There is far more bigotry shown towards single people as a group than there is toward gays. Gays do have the same rights as everyone else. In California, for example, they can marry a person of the opposite sex. Neither gays nor heterosexuals can marry a person of the same sex. Yes, they can. In the early days of the unions, when they actually worked for their members, workers often faced the very high (relatively) possibility of death just by going to their job. There weren't many, if any, options for them as far as other places to work. In todays job market here in the U.S. every person can choose to work at Wal_mart or they can choose not to. Probably won't die from their choice either way. BTW, I have family that worked at Wal-Mart as a department manager. She liked her job very much, thank you. She now works for Honda assembling transmissions. She hopes to spend many years there and retire from Honda. Imagine that. Somebody actually enjoys working at a non-union auto plant. Yeah! Good for them! They make their minimum wage workers perform unpaid overtime. They're only trying to be competitive with the other companies they've run out of town. THAT'S what this country needs! THAT'S the American way! Fuck people that can't do anything about it! Yay unfair labor practices! Yeah, it really must be hard for those Wal-Mart workers to do their job with a gun being held to their heads. Too bad they don't have a choice about whether they work there or not. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30706018/ Yeah right. The unions have shrunk for a reason...because workers got tired of them sucking them dry for little return. Fucking dumbasses. Absolutely right!! But it makes little difference who was responsible for doing what when you're getting ready for a long dirt nap. One of the worst things you can do while riding is to assume everybody around you will abide by the rules of the road. Less than two seconds from the first sign of the Civic braking until she slammed into it. He reactions were fine as was her directional control. She went for her only out but it was taken away when the car to her right slowed down. No.. ACTUALLy we sent the ice back about 10,000 years ago.. they sent it a long time before that.. From Wiki. The last glacial period was the most recent glacial period within the current ice age, occurring in the Pleistocene epoch. It began about 110,000 years ago and ended between 10,000 and 15,000 BP. During this period there were several changes between glacier advance and retreat. The maximum extent of glaciation was approximately 18,000 years ago BUT.. you have to give them credit for the Completion of the Mountain Removal Project in North Dakota about that time..No more mountains. Could be that the Great Lakes were the first attempt at a border fence in North America. I think it's all part of the attempts by Canada to destroy our transportation system. 10,000 years ago they sent glaciers to erode our land. Those glaciers left huge rocks and stones and mud and stuff behind to thwart the automobiles they knew would someday be invented. That didn't work so now they send geese to do the dirty work. I agree. Those lazy pigeons think they are too good to crap on lawns but the geese are more than happy to in exchange for a few beaks of grass. But then, I can't remember the last time I saw a goose perched on a statue in a park. Ah. An oft-repeated, broad-brush cliche' (like mom and apple pie). Which leads to this query: Then who, in a democratic republic, would you propose do the governing? Bump. Now those rerasons make sense. Or if only a part of the text is posted, then a link is in order. But if the text posted is only a cut & paste of the complete article it is needlessly redundant and will cause more traffic to the linked site without any good reason. My shorts are not in a knot. I just thought that, since the discussions in SC virtually always fall into or evolve into either guns, conservative v. liberal, or religion a small post bitching about something unrelated to any of those was in order. Good question. Why do people post a link to an article, and then copy & paste the entire contents? One or the other is sufficient. If, on the other hand, you are asking why the politicians are doing this, it is because they are politicians. It is in their DNA. They can't not lie. +1 from here... 400A@480VAC equates to roughly a 350 hp motor. That'll set you back a few jump tickets, amigo. And no, even with a flux capacitor, ya can't "rob" 120 volts from there. A properly located and installed CPT might get you where you want to go, but as the safety geek for the outfit I work for I'd seriously advise staying away. Also- get your NFPA 70E guide out and equip yourself with the proper PPE/AFC. sheesh... I can never tell when you guys are yankin' chains. Wal-Mart 257.476241 hp to be exact.

I feel the same way. Hopefully "drama boy" will be gone soon. Norman/Nick even getting past the first round was a slap in the face to much better talent that was left behind. The guy sounds like bloodhound with his nuts caught in a fence. Last season was the first time I watched more than one episode. If it weren't for me flipping channels and catching David cooke singing "Allright Now" I wouldn't have tuned in again. I think I'll wait until they are down to the final 12 before I watch again this year. You know, there are two types of people in this world. -Those who think there are 2 types of people in this world -And those who don't. Pretty deep, huh? Actually, there are 10 types of people. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
