Sorry, Bill, but you are wrong. My screen name has nothing to do with beer or alcohol. I chose it because I once owned a pair of BELGIAN DRAFT horses. Maybe you should have asked before assuming. Beer is NOT very important in my life. I rarely drink more than one beer a day and more than six or eight a month.Since you are a mod you may be able to check my password, which happens to be the name of the oldest of the two. The effects of alcohol are well known, including the time it remains in your body. Those things ARE NOT as well know about THC. How many sex partners have you had in your life?

Exactly my point. Every time someone takes a hit they are testing the long term affects. Not very smart. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

How many sex partners have you had in your life?
Belgian_Draft replied to normiss's topic in The Bonfire
Someone has been single for 10 years. Having no luck, they change partners every 2 months. 6x10 is 60 That's the math. They drink tequila excessively. ...and they frequent a bar in a place that your future SO is going on vacation. I'll turn 50 soon, have never been married, and the longest relationship I've been in was a little over 6 months. I've never been too picky about a gal's looks, average looks is more than good enough for me, so an average of a different partner every two months is very reasonable if not conservative. Doing the math, 34 years times 6 different partners per = 204. I guess my current girlfriend is right...I am a man-whore. You keep talking about countless studies, yet provide none. The only citation you give concerned Paula Jones. Meanwhile, the others here have provided citations destroying every argument you had. You're, of course, welcome to think you've proven your point. But no objective viewer can conclude that. All that is clear is you believe their sins are worse, and less healthy, than your sins. I could post references but you would not accept them, so why bother? Nobody else has in this thread, especially you. All you have tossed into the ring is your biased opinion. Yes, I do believe my "sin" of drinking a beer or two a week is less than the "sin" of smoking pot. Why you refer to them as sins is beyond me. I drink an occasional beer because I like the taste of different brew styles. I don't drink it to get drunk and, in fact, often drink non-alcoholic beer. On the other hand, people who smoke marijuana do so to catch a buzz, get high, or get totally trashed. Anybody who has to do that to have fun or escape the stress of their daily life has problems far worse than any pot can cause them. The difference is, I choose to tackle my problems and not hide behind a mood altering chemical. The difference bteen you and I in this discussion is that even though i know their are health problems associated with smoking pot, i feel it should be legalized since smoking it, poses no greater danger than a combination of alcohol and cigarettes. Lagalization would also eliminate a lot of crime and free up police for more important work, as well as providing billions each year in taxes. Meanwhile, you won't accept the FACT that marijuana does carry health risks. And, as I said before, as long as people hold out that attitude marijuana will never be legalized. Ok, here is just one example. Pay particular attentiuon to #7. www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00001143.htm HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

Even though I consider myself agnostic I figure that, if there is indeed a God, he would be pretty ticked off if I showed up at the pearly gates with a body that wasn't used up to the max. No, you tried to replace facts with skewed opinion and rhetoric. There was no common sense involved in your argument since you refused to accept the results of virtually countless studies. I bet Phelps could walk your dog also. He could probably out swim most dogs. so how smart do they have to be to watch your dog? Smart enough not to smoke dope. So for you, intelligence is measured by blindly obeying the law, swilling pints and smoking stoagies and being 100lbs overweight is A-OK. Roger that. There you go again, crediting me with things I never said. Typical debate tactic when all else fails. Yes, your editing was redundant. And you need to read more closely who posts what. If people would stop denying the risks involved with it and acknowledge them, it would help quite a bit in trying to get the stuff legalized. It never, NEVER, will be made legal as long as those who enjoy it deny, deny, deny. You can't show where I said people turn into babbling unproductive idiots if they smoke pot because I never made that claim. You have got to be kidding. That is almost as bad as outright saying it won't hurt you at all. If you REALLY want to be honest, then you best tell the kiddies that smoking marajuana carries the same risks associated with smoking tobacco, with the additional risks, known and unknown, associated with THC. Like I have said more than once in this thread, I'm all for the legalization of marajuana as long as it is taxed hevaily (like cigs and alcohol). It should also be packaged with warnings, just like tobacco and beer, that inform of the REAL risks, not the Jeff Spicoli warnings you've suggested. Please point out where I made that claim. That sentence doesn't make any sense at all. Better than the lies told to them that marajuana is harmless. The proof is out there that is is harmful. You can accept it or bury your head in the sand, either way the facts won't change. It actually started out as a young woman filing a lawsuit for sexual harrassment in the workplace. It could have ended there with a brief episode of public boo-hoo-ing if Clinton had acted the same way Phelps, Arnold, etc did and taken responsibility for his actions. Bush lied about the status of WMDs in Iraq. Difference there is that he has not been questioned about it under oath in front of a Grand Jury. Just in case you were out of town during the Clinto years. www.lectlaw.com/files/cas03.htm If you area public official, behave yourself. If you can't behave yourself, don't get caught. If you get caught, fess up. If you don't fess up, at least don't lie. If you lie, take responsibility for whatever happens because of that lie. If you fail to take responsibility, you should not hold public office to begin with. Ice storm was first test for Obama's FEMA?
Belgian_Draft replied to Belgian_Draft's topic in Speakers Corner
www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28931648/ Unless Obama summoned the Gods for help, I would think that two weeks is not nearly enough time to revamp FEMA. But I guess it would be out of character for the media to actually praise the FEMA that worked under Bush. I agree that these guys avoided a lot of problems by admitting what they did, regardless of how those acts are viewed in public light. However, i don't believe for one second that Mike regrets taking a few hits from the bong or anything else he has done. The only thing he regrets is getting caught. Much the same back in '04 when he got 18 months probation for a DUI. He's a young man who likes to party. Nothing wrong with that as long as he does it responsibly, i.e. no driving under the influence. I just wish Clinton had the same integrity these guys had. Could have saved the country a whole mess of worms if he had just admitted from the start that he had acted inappropriately with Paula Jones. If he had, nobody ever would have heard of Monica. It's not BS, its fact that has been verified by any number of independent studies. See, that is EXACTLY what I am trying to get across to you. When i drink beer, I know and accept the damage alcohol does to my body. I don't deny it. Why do people feel they have to be different about smoking pot? By denying all the facts about what damage is done to the body, they reinforce the view that it destroys one's capability to make rational decisions. When you jump out of an airplane, you don't deny the risks just to justify doing it, do you? It is easily proven that pot can be good for us. The former President George Bush took THC drops. We have people here who have benefitted from it. The rest of your points could be applied to a number of legal substances. You have failed to identify the differentiating factor. I don't have to identify any differentiating factor. I gave you my opinion and a couple known facts. They are there to do with as you please. You want to fry your brain cells, have at it. As far as those folks you speak of in the Bay Area who burn one now and then....just think how much money they could be making if they hadn't destroyed those billions of brain cells. Yeah, I know. But if it legalized we should have a way for the cops to quickly check whether a driver is over a predetermined level, if that is even possible. It may come down to relying on the roadside sobriety tests in front of a video camera. You know, put your arms straight out, tip your head back, stand on one foot, balance these spinning plates on these poles, and 1-2-3-KICK! 1-2-3-KICK! Drop a plate and yer toast. I've always been of the opinion that pot should be legalized and taxed at the same rate as cigarettes and test should be devloped that can be administered along the highway much the same way a breath test can detect alcohol. I just hate it when those who favor legalization spout off about how it doesn't hurt anybody, blah blah blah. It reminds me of those who want to eliminate motorcycle helmet laws claim helmets cause more deaths than they prevent. If saying that smoking pot has adverse effects on a person's brain, a fact that is well supported, is "making up reasons" then I am guilty as charged. Sure most of the foods we eat have as many or more chems as pot, but most of these foods have been proven over several thousand years to be good for us, not turning people into lethargic slugs. I never claimed they get sick more, etc. The only claims i have made are... -THC deteriates the brain. Proven fact. -Smoking pot on a regular basis causes problems with a persons ability to interact normally with society. Also proven. -Smoking pot is an immature act. Personal opinion.
