Blasian Assassin Wasps?

Trump would have been a teenager when the first Bond films were released. How much of a stretch is it to imagine him walking out of the theatre and deciding to model himself on Auric Goldfinger? Golf, tan, no taxes and pussy galore? Sorry, I don't see the resemblance.

James Bond vs Biff Tannen Sorry, I couldn't resist. . .

A serious preponderance about Trump and Covid-19
Coreece replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
Ok so if the USA did as good as Taiwan we'd have like 83 deaths. If the USA did as good as South Korea we'd have like 1619 deaths. If the USA did as good as New Zealand we'd have like 1377 deaths. If the USA did as good as the United Kingdom we'd have like 140,000+ deaths. -
Incorrect, as usual. I've used that term any time Trump compliments scumbags, including North Koreans and Russians. Where? "the anti-minority hate from white nationalists, whom Trump referred to as "very fine people He calls murderous Nazis "very fine people." "Also consider most Jews don't even like Trump's "very fine people!" How . . . disloyal of them." "We have white nationalists - who Trump calls "very fine people" "She became a conservative overnight once she realized that Nazis and white supremacists are actually very fine people." "If Clinton had been elected, how could the Nazis, white supremacists and far-right terrorists have any hope at all of being named "very fine people?" "One of Trump's "very fine people" expresses herself: Nazi graffiti found at Oklahoma City Democratic Party" "Trump has referred to neo-Nazis and white nationalists, including a white nationalist that murdered a protester, as "some very fine people." "Trump has even called white supremacists "some very fine people." "The days of the KKK are almost behind us. Trump gave them one last gasp (with his "both sides" and "very fine people" comments) And even if there is some obscure reference to Russians or NK, (which I highly doubt) you've referred to white supremacists so obsessively that it's perfectly reasonable to conclude that's what you were talking about. Anyone familiar with your posting history on the subject that skipped reading the article (just as you did, apparently) would've likely came to that same conclusion. Much of the push back on social distancing is coming from people that many here perceive as gun toting right wing trump supporting extremists, and the TDS epidemic is bad enough already without suggesting that they're also out there killing black security guards that enforce those social distancing measures. But nice try, tho!
-
I was referring to his tendency to call any scumbag "very fine." You've have only used that term in reference to white supremacists. It's ok, I know you're a busy guy and don't have time to fact check between gish gallops. Clarifying that the suspects in an article weren't white supremacists as you suggested is not race-baiting.
-
Every time you have used that phrase you were referring to Trump's "very fine" white supremacists. The people who killed the security guard in that article were not white supremacists, which is what you were going for. I'm guessing you didn't even read the article.
-
I will take that as yes, you do want to argue that is what Trump refers to when he uses that term. No that's where it came from. wtf is your problem?
-
Where have you been? That is who Bill was referring to practically every time he's used that meme. I mean FFS dude, do a search for "very fine people."
-
Look, there are some very fine people on both sides of this argument. I know, right? Those damn white supremacists!

COVID-19 Donations, trump Zero, Trump International Zero

And don't forget that UK, France, Spain, etc. each have a far higher population density than the USA I didn't- we were just talking about that in another thread. I even think I was one of the first posters to refer to pop density when I said "wouldn't it be more meaningful to compare geographical areas that are more similar in square mileage and population" I think those would be much more meaningful comparisons as I suggested above. On that note, why do you think that the EU countries in question have covid fatality rates that are about 2-4 times higher than NY or CA? And again, I'm not trying to criticize Europe. I've also mentioned how the U.S could surpass all European rates if we're not careful. One concern is that we haven't shut down interstate travel. That would be like allowing open travel throughout the entire Schengen area. And while that may not be as risky in the U.S given it's lower pop density, it could very well take much longer for U.S to contain it, eventually resulting in higher overall rates. -

That's funny because your article goes on to say that: "This week state, county, and municipal officials have begun rectifying the problem of underreporting of COVID-19 deaths by adding to the tally deaths that have occurred at home or in nursing homes and are presumed to be caused by COVID-19." -And- "Belgium, France and the Netherlands have been adapting their enumeration methods to account for suspected COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes and residential care centers." ...And then this: "In the U.K., for example, numbers of COVID-19 deaths are underreported as people who die at home or in nursing homes are not included in the count. The U.K. government only includes people who tested positive for the coronavirus and subsequently died in hospital." What was that you were saying about comprehension and skimming? Maybe you should add Trump Derangement Syndrome to that list as well. -

For many liberals here it's difficult to interpret simple issues, like the difference between rates and raw numbers. . .snicker. -

I once agreed with Phil and encouraged his posting style by comparing it to Marg's. Obviously tho, Marg wasn't a troll and didn't over do it. With Phil it's like a child that get's all excited when you laugh at his jokes and then starts acting obnoxious. -

Each time I was replying to someone specific, not starting new threads like you and then talking to myself when nobody replied. My comments had nothing to do with Trump. It's very simple, the U.K, France, Spain, Italy, and Belgium have covid fatality and per capita death rates that are 2-3 times higher than the U.S, so you can't really say things like "the U.S got the worst of it in the whole entire world!" -

Our good friends Dunning-Kruger: Political branch of the family
Coreece replied to wmw999's topic in Speakers Corner
To find studies behind paywalls, I usually do a search for the study title with "pdf" at the end and see if I get any hits. This one was on the author's website: http://www.iananson.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/2018-dunning-kruger.pdf Neway, thanks. Will have to check this out later. The other side to that is overestimating everyone else's ability. For example, thinking that everyone should know the difference between rates and raw numbers. -
Another one that can't wrap their head around the difference between rates and raw numbers. The entire world could end with wolfriverjoe being the sole survivor since he knows better than anyone else. He'd put on his dysfunctional critical thinking cap, look at the numbers, and then wonder why China got hit the hardest.

There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998

That's only because a warming climate is likely to produce more female turtles, and we all know how misogynistic you are! -
Exactly, we are already pot committed.

I think that's a legitimate issue that needs to be looked at, but there seems to be some conflicting perspectives on this. Can you point to something specific in that plan that was ignored that would've made a difference? It's a bit concerning. Whitmer rolled back some restrictions in Michigan due to pressure from a very small minority of people on the right. (Basically opening up nurseries and allowing people to travel to their seasonal properties up north which represents roughly 30-50+% of all residential properties up here depending on county.) That same day my neighbors came up with like 15 people. I can't say that I blame them - they have this amazing log cabin on the lake that they hardly get to enjoy, but why have a party? And it's not the party that I was really concerned about, it was if they were going into town and possibly spreading something around. Anyway, a month ago this place was a ghost town, now everything looks like it's back to normal. Not good. This is a tourist town and we just don't have the medical resources to handle an influx for year round residents, let alone seasonal residents.
