never had any issues, and I have deleted A LOT of logbooks :P) set each warning altitude to 100 Go to ”LOGBOOK DEL” and press and hold . While holding , press and keep it pressed while the display counts down from ”500” to ”0”. 2 beeps will sound when the unit has deleted the logbook.

File a paypal dispute before the "seller" has time to transfer the funds into their bank account. If they are legit, you can always settle the dispute. The money gets put into escrow neither you or the seller can't touch - if nothing is heard from the seller within a set amount of days, you get the payment refunded. If the seller proves DELIVERY (not just shipment) - they get the funds back. Good luck ! PS - this is why the "best deal" is not always such a best deal - some cheap things just cost too much :) -

My guess is that fuel costs are a lot more negligible than the wear and tear on the aircraft. Think about it - the Pilot still gets paid (most likely per load, so altitude does not matter), the aircraft still takes off and lands, and if anything the H'n'P makes the plane be in the air for a little longer instead of climbing and letting all go at full altitude. Essentially what I am saying is that the fixed costs per load are far greater than the variable costs (fuel), which is why the tiny difference in price. The most recent time I was wanting to get out low, the pilot commented that it would be cheaper and easier for me to go to full (though it was a small Cessna DZ, and that meant 9.5 :) Personally, I just take whatever altitude they give me and try to enjoy the skydive :) -
Damn Cypres servicing!
likestojump replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
funny, one I sent them a week ago had the same disease : " As a result of testing and data analysis performed at SSK, it was necessary to ship this unit to Airtec in Germany on 05/27/2009, as the repairs or updates to prepare this CYPRES for the next four years of use were too extensive to be performed here. Although this CYPRES presently performs properly, some parameters were outside Airtec's stringent limits during extreme condition testing. Airtec attempts to complete the work as soon as possible, however, as artificial aging on new components is required, as well as a repeat of all stress and calibration tests, (plus shipping to/from Germany), expect a 4-6 week delay in return date. There is no additional cost for this additional service, it is simply part of the maintenance system that helps ensure reliable operation until the next scheduled date. Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the delay. " -

SSK will rent you a Cypres, just call and ask -
Out of curiosity - you list Back and Chest ratings in your profile - so you obviously were either trained by a rigger, or went to a rigger school - why not call/email those good people for the explanation ? Or perhaps even the DPRE who tested you ?

Your opinion on the Lodi hitting the tail incident
likestojump replied to mrbiceps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
according to numerous reports he was told more than once not to jump up. jumping out of airplanes was not something he MUST do - it was something he WANTED to do. Thus I conclude "he made the choices, he paid the price". Any more people wanting to spit in Darwin's face and assign blame to others ? -
probably because it sounds cool and because there are so many people here who have more posts than jumps :(

a properly trimmed bottle cork takes care of the PVC pipe problem nicely, if one is on a budget or in a rush. Otherwise I prefer leather hackeys.

By the same logic "Caution - VERY HOT" signs on coffee cups would make people stop getting burnt with the drink. Instead they just prevent liability lawsuits. -
Lodi Facing Million Dollar Lawsuit
likestojump replied to michaelt's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Gimme a break. I'm advocating that experienced people look out for less experienced people to reduce incidents SUCH AS THIS ONE, and i've merely mentioned that maybe the lawsuit at hand will bring about some changes at other dropzones. Many of you can use the veil of "self-responsibility" as your excuse for not helping others. I believe you are doing the sport at large a great disservice, but hey, thats my opinion. And I personally consider a 100 jump jumper inexperienced, but hey, thats my opinion too. Notice that I never said for people to be autonomous - I just suggested that people need to take a bit more interest in knowing what they are getting into, and should be less expectant of others. Yes, passing knowledge on is good, but remind me, did the person who sparked this thread not get told to NOT jump up when exiting the 99 ? how much of an idiot do you have to be to get to an open door, look outside and not see the tail hanging low ? Conversely, how much of an idiot do you have to be to not look out of the open door prior to exit ? "artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity" -

This thread is a great example of the spoon feeding problem we have in the US. People are able, but not willing to take responsibility of educating themselves. We are jumping out of airplanes - this is a sport where inaction WILL KILL (unless you got an AAD :). Putting your fate in someone elses hands is nice when you are doing a tandem with someone who you think :) is a trained professional. When you become a licenses skydiver, you are signed off for SOLO jumps. That means no hand holding. Thus while it should be given, it should not be expected to be babysat through every possible scenario. The chances are that if you are a licensed skydiver, you are an able bodied, consenting adult with some brain activity - use that head for something other than having a nice shiny helmet. You are willing to work hard and buy yourself that $3000 rig ? Well, spend about the same amount of time educating yourself about your gear and the sport. Cause gear only works as good as the people using it. -

Has it been in the past and if so, how did he get them reinstated ? His current Airmen profile shows A&P and the IA issued 03/2009 I cannot argue that it's Bills way or the highway, but I feel that if you are a competent experienced jumper you can make the decisions for yourself to jump or not. That, however may get you kicked out of the place :) On a different note, Bill does sport a hefty inventory of very nice Sigma tandem rigs, as opposed to many dropzones that I see using old beat up Vectors or archaic looking Racers. So maybe Bill is not that unsafe ???? (caution : I hold no instructional ratings) -
The Vendor Client Relationship - In Real World Situations
likestojump replied to jtnesbitt's topic in The Bonfire
haha. Story of my life. "I know you are selling this rig for $3500, but I was wondering if you would take $2000 as that's all I have". Well, why not buy a $2000 rig then ??? Or the ones who want a try'n'buy sent out but "won't be able to come up with the money to pay for it until 3 weeks from now". So many consumers are spoiled brats, that sometimes I question my sanity after spending a lifetime in retail. It's like those guys who buy new canopies and then land them in the trees - where's the common sense ??? -
What is the weight of a Sabre II 170? I need to post one.
likestojump replied to T_P's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have no idea why you can't weigh it.... I shipped a Sabre2-150 and it was 7lbs including the packing materials that I used. I shipped a Spectre170 and it was 7.5 lbs including the packaging. It's safe to say that if you don't go crazy with the amount of packaging you should be at about 8lbs. -

ship USPS and declare gift and lower value. I also suggest putting down something a bit less revealing than "high value skydiving gear - please be very careful as it's worth over $2000" -
You have choices. Here is an example, if you want to mail a letter from California to Florida: 1. Post office - about 3 days. Cost 44 cents. 2. FedEx - Ground, about a week, cost, about $7. Express 3-day saver: cost, $9-10 3. UPS - Ground, about five days. Cost, about $6. BULLSHIT. Being incompetent is not acceptable, and is not in the USPS guidelines. It's their mentality, which is what's causing them to be inefficient and absolute dickheads to people. I ship every day, and get packages everyday. USPS has by far been extremely rude and incompetent. I have filed complaints with the local post office, I had a CSR removed as she was an absolute cunt who had no clue about her job, and got extremely rude with me after I explained to her how the USPS works. My experience with UPS/FedEx/DHL has been top notch, both with the service and with the representatives. My opinion is based on experiences with thousands of packages through each service (short of DHL).

well bud, http://www.fedex.com/ratefinder/home?cc=US&language=en run a quote for FedEx ground and find out it costs ( from 22407 to 90210 using delivery to residence) .... and it costs $7.70 USD Granted USPS First Class mail would have been cheaper, but that's not the service they are offering...
