I will never pack for someone who is A licensed and just lazy. I will help to the best of my ability. But I keep seeing more and more people who are either just happy to be ignorant and not bothered with knowing about their gear OR are terrified of their packing and use that as an excuse to keep using packers. A little while ago there were a few people who said they were going to buy some junk canopies/containers so they can practice packing throughout the off-season. Personally, that sounded a bit nuts to me. Packing is not about repeated monkey-like movements, it's about visualizing how you want your canopy to be folded, and doing so. If you hang the canopy up in a rack, and take a bit of time to explain it to the person, they will either quit the sport (probably a good choice if they are that dumb), or will realize what they are trying to accomplish over the shoulder, and get much better at it. just one persons opinion.... No, I don't use packers. And it was sometime in my AFF training when I started packing for myself. Let's call it jump #13 just for fun.

2 flight after coming back from jumping, I discovered a mantis in my stashbagged canopy. It was still alive.
-
apples to apples my dear friend. OP was asking to compare the 3 canopies based on them being priced similar. For the same price, IMHO Sabre is a better choice. I hear reliable and safe. You are hearing "cheap cheap cheap". quite a common trend. once again - nothing wrong with F111 canopies, as long as people who use them are aware of limitations.

really?...impatience? So you think this person should have jumped w/o a cypres? I still think it's a scam....buy a vigil! No, I am not suggesting they should have jumped without a cypres - that's their choice. I am suggesting that sicne they knew the facts upfront, it's hypocritical to bitch about the outcome you were advised of.

I use it every day to talk to people all over the world. It's quite nice and very useful.

that is exactly the situation that I described. Someones impatience of waiting 3 months cost them $160. Yeah, 3 extra months prior to the -3mo period is not much, but neither is 4. And 6 months is only 2 months away from the 4.... where does the company draw the line ? I personally don't see this as rip-off.

You wanted to get an opinion what's best if the price is the same - and ZP is by far a better choice. F111 is never same bang for the buck. Nobody says F111 is a deathtrap. It's just mostly inferior in skydiving environment (durability, flare, speed, resale value). Don't like the answers ? Don't ask the question !

here's one thing people sometimes overlook. your unit MUST be within 3 months OR LESS BEFORE, or any amount AFTER the required service for it to be done. If your unit is DOM 8/2001 and you send it in now, you are MORE than 3 months outside the 8 year check, but still need the 4 year check.

The original poster asked "either a sabre, falcon or pd190. which one would u buy if they were all around the same money? " Do you think it's really a sound advice to buy an F111 canopy ? I felt that it was blind leading the blind.
-
you must have tried many other canopies to establish your PD210s dominance, right ?

People who type IN ALL CAPS. And then say "AFTER 6 YEARS IN COLLEGE AND POST GRADUATE STUDIES AND 18 YEARS AS A PRACTICING ENGINEER USING ONLY BLOCK LETTERS..." I never knew that formal education makes one excused from following the established etiquette...

I need advice on selling a main canopy
likestojump replied to FlyinNover's topic in Gear and Rigging
Every transaction is different. Two most common ways are : 1) You have the seller send it to your rigger. Your rigger gives it a clean bill of health and you send the seller the $$$. 2) You send seller the $$$, and upon receipt they send you the product. Some sellers are a not willing to ship before they get paid, and some buyers are not willing to pay before it gets inspected. That sometimes leads to failed transaction, sometimes to people bending their comfort level. Keep in mind, sending it to their rigger is considered part of the transaction - at this point you have a commitment, and the only way the buyer should be able to back out is if the rigger finds something wrong with it, NOT due to any other reasons (unfortunately it does happen) It's all unique every time. Just stay within what you are comfortable with, and get the seller/buyer on the phone, personal communication is the key. -

So if you bought a canopy for you personally, you'd be fine to inspect it yourself and jump it? Oh wait, you been around the sport a while and are yourself a rigger, doh I don't quite understand the resistance sellers have in shipping their gear to the buyers rigger for inspection, especially when someone is new and may not know what they are looking at/for. After all it is a life saving piece of equipment.... Please don't take me out of context Tara. The OP stated that he is going to have their rigger give a full inspection, and then put it up for sale. I am just saying it seems a bit excessive to require yet antoher rigger to look at it. Please don't think I don't understand the reasons WHY - I just *personally* think it's a excessive. PS I have never required anyone to ship things to me before I paid for them. Anything that I get is paid for upfront. But again, I am not saying that's the way everyone should do it. -
People who say "xxx is the BEST" and advise their friends to get/use it, when they have no tried any other products/services in the category (i.e. "I have 6 jumps and jump a Mirage and it's the best") People who give advice without any first hand knowledge. People who put the toilet paper roll on the counter/water tank instead of hanging it on the roll holder. LAZY People who feel that they can use their dirty-ass street footwear to walk through my house. People who don't use blinkers. People who end their post with "but i am too lazy for that" or "I am too fat". Really ? And you are OK with that ? Mjosparky and his endless "the world revolves around me" opinions People who nitpick everything you say. People who have no common sense to do basic research ("Oh, I am in California, you are in Florida, I am not sure how big our time difference is" - for fucks sake, it's not hard to know its 3 hours, or to get an answer out of Google in 10 seconds) People who think that their rigger is the ultimate authority on all things skydiving. People who post and ad "will be available in 2 months". Well, it's not really for sale right now then, is it ? People who participate in topical forums who have no knowledge of the topic, but feel that them being postwhore #1 entitles them to credibility. It does not, sorry. People who wear beanies when its warm/hot outside. Wiggers

Pardon me for being born too late. My bad.

Out of curiosity, did someone suggest the pocket switch for you ? If not, what made you figure that the piece of spandex that was supplied by airtech is not "right" for the VigilII ? Personally, I have not touched a VigilII yet, but I had no issues using a Cypres pocket for the original Vigil. tnx

best place for you to sell it is dropzone.com or your local DZ. should sell for 350-700 depending on the condition and how beat up the lines are. As far as putting rigger info - just ask them if hey are ok with it, no need for the FAA ID. I bet you'll still want people to get it shipped to THEIR rigger. Damn paranoia. -
sorry I can't help, but.. if anyone has a trim chart, I could use it as well, I have an Alpha129.. and I actually like 'em (and Spaces) a lot...

I used a Heatwave 135 in an M4 sized dbag without problems. M3 should work just fine.
