  1. Um, I don't believe I posted in any thread about "Barefoot shooting." Would you care to check again for us? And I guess I have to ask: is it typical of your style, to set up a decoy thread that others waste their time posting in, just to see if you can "out" someone? Wow. Is that really fair to your friends? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  2. OMG, did you just give cristelsabine credit for this "outing"? About three other people have been calling me this "Jeffrey" for a week or two, now. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  3. That's obvious. Perhaps, one day you should try to talk with people in the very natural form: Face to face. OMG, are you really this clueless? First of all, you are talking about things--implying knowledge--when you clearly could not possibly know of what you speak. Second, how is it that you take earnestly what is said with a ? Did you miss the part where you referred to my posts with the insult "If you can call them that"? I guess you're free with the insults, too, even though you are loathe to admit it. I have posted plenty of polite, and even sometimes pleasant, messages. I also occasionally post about actual skydiving-related subjects. Do you? Do you feel that you are not bothersome to anyone? That would be a mistake. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  4. Who are you kidding? Everyone knows the Democrats are the good guys, and it's the Republicans who are taking the big corporate money. Shhyeah, right! Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  5. There are advocates for a "fair tax" and a "flat tax" (I haven't looked into the specific points of either). I don't agree that it would be a victory for the People if their option to re-elect a true statesman who's been doing a great job were taken away statutorily. I would love to see the money taken out of politics, yes, but the abolition of "lobbying" would be a mistake. Anyone from the New York area? Ever heard of "NYPIRG"? New York Public Interest Research Group. They LOBBY for PUBLIC INTEREST issues. Presumably nobly. The fact is, legislators are expected to vote in support of or in opposition to a huge variety of legislative items. They simply cannot be knowledgeable about all of those subjects. The real purpose of lobbyists is to inform[/] legislators. If there was a way to allow them to accomplish this without ANY MONEY being involved, we should do that. But abolishing lobbying itself is not a good idea, necessarily. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  6. I answered, "No, because the voting block that supports him host no ill will towards white america." No. Wait. I'm sorry, my mistake -- I answered "Yes, if they burn and loot when a team wins a championship, they will do this." Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  7. You know, I've noticed, Andy, that all you ever do is make these discussions about the who, and you completely ignore the what. See, even when I pointed out, directly, that you neglected to say anything germane about the post that preceded yours, which was a very pithy post, you still are making this about what I need to do. Are you incapable of actually staying on point? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  8. You know, you really need to get a grip already. For most of us, this is just the Internet. All you see of me is on the Internet. You have no idea what I am like not on "just the Internet." Look at how wrapped up you are in what I say, and how. Would it not be fairer to say that we both should get a grip? Surely if you are this concerned with how I'm faring, it's not just me. 9. Oh. That would indeed change things. I don't think Canada's gotten that bad... yet. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

  12. I trust a rigger who's recommended to me by fellow skydivers who are more experienced than I am (that's most of them), when they say he/she is good. I try to go by established reputation. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

  14. Ok...here's my thoughts: Looking at your other posts on this, it seems to me like you're going into the counseling and your relationship problems already convinced that it's going to fail. I saw it that way too. My first reaction was that any couple in a situation where they are not getting along must, before they do anything, decide whether they still love each other. If they do, then blast away at the problems knowing that each one wants to get back to that. If you know that your goal is to return to the state of loving each other without all the other crap, then you can do it. But if the love is gone, there won't be any heart put into the fight to pull the marriage back together. I went through a two-year relationship that fell apart as we grew apart. It became clear that there wasn't enough love to hold it all together, so we went our separate ways. Sometimes that just happens. Good luck, Bloody Trauma. I wish you the best. 15. "Time Enough for Love" is one of my favorite books, but I think it's the only Heinlein book I've ever read. I have "Stranger in a Strange Land," and I'll occasionally pick it up and try to read it, but I just can't seem to get into it. I should probably check out some of his other books though. I read "Stranger in a Strange Land" after years of knowing it was out there and not having any idea what it was about. It took me a while to trudge through it, but I really really liked it a lot. It was cool how he dealt with the idea that anyone can become, essentially, god-like. You just have to be able to think in Martian, first. Some book series that I am fond of: The Alvin Maker series of books by Orson Scott Card (begins with "Seventh Son") Beautifully written book. The Earthsea series of books by Ursula K. Leguin (begins with "A Wizard of Earthsea." Read it and learn where Rowling ripped off her story from.) These books, especially the first, are like poetry in prose, the writing is so beautiful. The Travis McGee serials by John D. McDonald ("...the great entertainer of our age, and a mesmerizing storyteller" - Stephen King; "...my favorite novelist of all time." - Dean Koontz; "...the consummate pro, a master storyteller and witty observer." - Jonathan Kellerman) Travis McGee is a lot like Spenser. Tough-as-nails, good with women, hot on the trail of the bad-guys. But McGee lives on a houseboat in Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He lives on what he earns, and then goes back to work when the money gets low. Awesome storytelling. Yes, the novels are short, quick reads, and are like mind-candy, but at the same time, they manage to be literature!... Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  16. The funny thing is, I had never heard of media noche sandwiches either; but I went on Tuesday afternoon to that Havana restaurant to get a Cuban sandwich. I ordered at the takeout window, then got curious about what else their menu has, so I opened it. There, just below the Cuban sandwich, was the Media Noche sandwich. Sweet bread, pork, swiss cheese, pickles, mustard... Just like Grue described! I started regretting that I'd already ordered the Cuban. Well, next time...
  17. You should have just explained your evil plan to the ants, put them in for the three original minutes and then left and assumed that everything went according to plan. ...What? Oh, did you demand one hundred BILLION dollars from the ant-queen? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  18. There's a very simple way for illegal immigrants to be sure they will not be caught up in this situation. See if you can guess it, Billvon!
  19. Yeah, those "innocent" ILLEGAL immigrants. Poor them. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  20. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with their character. They'll just go on to find legitimate jobs. Wouldn't dream of finding some other criminal enterprise to engage in. The only reason they are evil, murderous fucks is that there's money to be made in drugs. Really, deep in their hearts, they want to be workaday joes. 21. I'm glad your friend survived and was not successfully raped. I am under the impression, though, that carrying any item that can be used for self defense is ILLEGAL in England, though. You'd better check into the legality of her carrying "self-defense items," or the first time she uses one (or is found with one) SHE could be the one treated like a criminal. I find it interesting (and distressing) that so many people close the barn door after the horse has gotten out. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  22. birdlike is definitely in the 'quantity over quality' corner of Speaker's Corner. A place where the metric for victory is the number of words written. Either that or you just don't fuckin' get it most of the time. Oh, if you do say so yourself. Well, then you'd better hurry up and make with some. See, this is why you mistakenly think there's no "quality" to my posts -- you just don't fuckin' get it. IF you did, you'd know that the point was that this fucker was a murderer already, and if he had been executed rather than given some pissant short sentence, he would not have lived to murder his BROTHER, three other adults, and his two NEPHEWS (children, I might add. Won't you think of the children?!). He not only didn't get a death sentence for the first murder, HE DIDN'T EVEN GET THE "LIFE IN PRISON" THAT YOU FOLKS KEEP SAYING WE SHOULD COMPROMISE ON. 23. Either that, or I'm simply a person exercising his right to express his OPINION (ever heard of one of THOSE?) about what should be done with depraved, animalistic murderers. I can see how you wouldn't be able to figure out the difference. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  24. So, do you take that as proof that there are lots more out there? Or, put another way, how can you prove that when you find those 10, you haven't found ALL 10 WHO EXISTED? Besides, you're just demonstrating that the system is working. People are finding out who is wrongly convicted and keeping them from being executed. [kermit voice]Yayyyyy![/kermit voice] Once again, you are bringing up the idea of wrongful execution in the context of a case that is BEYOND DOUBT, INCLUDING A CONFESSION. What I can't figure out is why you don't switch off: when we raise a case where the wrongful conviction is a possibility, you should be raising the "it makes us as bad as they are" issue. When we raise a case where it clearly doesn't make us as bad as they are, you should be raising the "what if he's been wrongly convicted" issue. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  25. Why does yet another thread about this same thing warrant you coming in here to contribute NO-thing except to question the existence of the thread? I'm afraid I have to ask you another question of the "Who the fuck / Why the fuck" variety: Why the fuck do you care? You didn't have to come in here, and if you were bored or annoyed with the subject, you could have just left, and you certainly didn't have to fuckin' post. The part that really amuses me is that you probably think I am the one who's annoying. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
