Do you loosen your chest strap after opening?
millertime24 replied to skymama's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I do. Not that I swoop but for me it just feels more comfy not cinched down all tight. I will say that it's the LAST thing I do. My order of events are as follows. 1. Deploy 2. Check for traffic while opening and once under canopy 3. Unzip arm wings 4. Check for traffic 5. Collapse slider 6. Check for traffic and grab toggles 7. Release brakes and ensure canopy is flying properly 8. Check traffic, if none let go of toggles and loosen chest strap. 9. Unzip leg wings Muff #5048 -
Wearing Vibram Five Fingers while Skydiving?
millertime24 replied to hokierower's topic in Gear and Rigging
Hell, I do that after a Madjohn speedstar SPECIALY when I'm the base. Muff #5048 -
DSE mentioned the tunnel. Thats really a fantastic way to improve your skills in the air. As for hanging out at the dz and not jumping, sure. I did it all the time early in my skyjumping life. Mainly because I couldn't afford to make 5-7 jumps a day when I didn't own my own gear. Something else to consider though is learning to pack. You can do that without hurting your ankle AND it lets you hang out at the dz with friends too. There's probably some student gear you could use for that. Muff #5048

Wearing Vibram Five Fingers while Skydiving?

Vans. I started my AFF in a pair of Asics I think, but once I wore a pair of Vans I never looked back. Muff #5048 -
Wearing Vibram Five Fingers while Skydiving?
millertime24 replied to hokierower's topic in Gear and Rigging
Ah, so you are the one who jumps construction boots with steel reinforcement? Sneakers would not be right with your reasoning. Sneakers have more material between the foot and the ground from the five finger shoes Ive seen. But, no, I don't wear sneakers. I wear Vans (tons of padding in there). And I HAVE jumped in steel toe boots from time to time (if I go straight to the DZ from work for example). Muff #5048 -
Wearing Vibram Five Fingers while Skydiving?
millertime24 replied to hokierower's topic in Gear and Rigging
I wouldn't wear them and here's why. Out here in Utah we have these things pretty much everywhere we call goatheads (similar to Florida sandspurs). I know for a fact that these goatheads will puncture a very robust mountain bike tire resulting in tire deflation. My thought is, if they can puncture a thick rubber tire then surely they would have no problem at all getting through these five finger shoes and breaking off into the bottom of your foot. What's the fall rate of a car battery anyway (Shit now someone is going to try it). But I would guess head down or a fast sit would be needed to keep up with it. Muff #5048

"Proper size for a woman to be" or "Shah must be right"

Please do not speak for me. I have NO desire to have a "life partner". Some people do, I'm just not one of them. Muff #5048 -
Yes. yes they do. I just ordered a Cookie CX110 side mount box, Raynox 3035 hd lense, and a Conceptus tounge switch. All arrived in SUPER condition in literally 3 days. That was my second dealing with CS (the first was using them as an escrow for a canopy purchase from another dz.commer). They come through every time, and good on em' for doing that. Muff #5048

Anyone wanna Chute and Shoot?????
millertime24 replied to Ron's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm game. I've got everything except the NFA gun. Let us know if you can work this out with a date far enough in the future to get enough people time to plan for it. Muff #5048 -
What do you think about the piston design on AR's? I've read mixed things on them which is why I went with the standard gas design. Muff #5048

I'm a gun lover, but it seems that you are merely trolling for controversy. Not at all. It's just that everytime someone post's anything about firearms on this site it is met with a few "You shouldn't be able to have that/ Guns kill people" types. I figured I would throw a response to those folks in the initial post and be done with it. Muff #5048

Yeah I have. Very nice. Kind of heavy, though. If I was going to buy one, I'd buy the 556 pistol setup, since there isn't a recoil buffer tube. If you want to spend your hard earned cash on something nice, I'd get a SBR Larue AR

Have you had a chance to shoot the Sig .223? I think it's pretty sweet, but cant justify spending $1300 on a stock gun. My buddy has one and it's pretty fun. Now I just need to get an Aimpoint with elevated rings to clear the front gas block. Muff #5048

Yeah, I need to get the carpet cleaned. I can assure you that this thing is no plastic toy. I went out shooting it today and it will turn 1 gal of water into a fine mist. I can also hit a 5" (I think) clay target @ 100 yds pretty consistantly from the bech with the iron optics on this gun. I was using cheapo AE 55gr ball ammo so I'm thinking about working up some reloads and taking it back out to see if that helps accuracy any. ETA- I bought a few PMAGS and found that with the magwell grip they got a bit bound up (I had to pull them out). Took a rasp to the grip where the mags were interfering and now they drop out like butter. Muff #5048

Thanks Man.

Well, it certainly has enough acronyms to go with it. But how well does it shoot? Here in the military, we have an acronym, WWWDWA. -What -Would -We -Do -Without -Acronyms BTW, the only 3 in your list of "things I dont know" would be ATI, KSL and EMA. Anyone who knows anything about AR's knows who DMPS, CMMG, and Houge are. DPMS makes AR's, JARD makes triggers, and CMMG makes AR's. "Houge" only makes accessories for the AR, and that's the name of the company. EMA makes tactical accesories for AR's KSL is a local news station with a classified section (hence how I got my upper). How does it shoot? Couldn't tell you. I JUST built it. I'm going out to shoot it tommorrow..... meh, fuck it, Ill go cap a few rounds off my appt balcony....BRB... Muff #5048

I heard that if you own two of them that you start a cult! I "heard" and now believe once you have ONE of these things in your gun locker, they tend to multiply. I dont know about that, but I'm already looking at another lower... And for the record, while I don't like kids, I would NEVER send them to school with a toy such as this. Can't handle the liability... ETA- Didn't read your post fully. No I have no desire at all to shoot any person with this gun... Just targets. Muff #5048

I know it's hard to see, but that is a box of .22LR. Wont work in this gun. Glad you like it.

So I'm still waiting for my DPMS 3G1 upper, but I saw this upper on KSL for a steal and bought/mounted it. Here's some fun facts on the features of this rifle... -CMMG lower -JARD Single Stage 2' trigger -Houge Pistol Grip -CMMG 6 Position adjustable stock -ATI upper -DPMS Fluted 16" barrel -DPMS Flip-Up rear sight -DPMS National Match Bolt Carrier assembly -EMA Tactical Magazine Well Grip This was a really fun gun to build, but when my DPMS 3G1 upper comes in I think Ill have an "event" in my pants. Anywho, AR fans ENJOY!!! People who think these guns are evil and should be not owned by noone.... Go fuck yourself. Muff #5048

Here's a thought, Why not use South African ZP? My Cobalt is made out of it and it's VERY easy to pack (almost like f-111). Is there any real reason why they cant make student canopies out of this stuff? Muff #5048
