HEY!!! Ya old fucker. Theres these things now called "packers". They will pack your parachute for you so long as you feed them. And if I'm honest, I'm the worlds laziest skydiver (not that I CANT pack a parachute, but I just dont want to). Guess on this canopy I should just pack for myself "shudder" or educate every packer I ever come across on how to properly pack this canopy. Muff #5048

Um... Thats Z-Hills. But yeah, this thing like to be packed a VERY certian way. My guess is when I dropped it in the packing tent someone picked it up and packed it like they would a Pilot. After bringing the opening up with ALL the packers I didn't have a hard one the rest of the weekend. Either way, canopies SHOULD NOT ever open this hard. It took me a while to get my mind right after that one, and my neck still hurts like hell (dont worry it's muscular). My next move is to buy a Pilot 124 and keep this canopy for another rig when Im in a pinch. BTW, I MAY not be as old as you, but I sure as hell feel 20 yrs older than you right now. Muff #5048

Here's another with an opening so hard I damn near took a razor blade to my canopy after landing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFwK07bcRBE Muff #5048

And here's why. My equipment: -Cobalt 135 main -Pheonixfly Shadow Wingsuit - Well... the rest doesn't really matter This is the second time this thing has smacked the ever-loving holy fuck out of me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFwK07bcRBE Muff #5048

I was thinking about just getting 15lbs of weight to solve the problem. Being 6' tall and 160lbs does have its disadvantages. Muff #5048

Here's a taste. I put this one together in about 20 min once I got home. Ill put a nice vid of what we did sometime during next weekend. BTW, all the flocks before this I was using a P2 and always ended up out-floating the flock. In this one I was using a V-1 and "almost" got into my slot (hell, I fought for that slot in the air). Go figure.... I flock better in a V-1 than a P2. Enjoy!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGvSW5GFbs0 Muff #5048

Thanks to everyone out there. Thanks to Jarno for the shadow demo, to Scott Bland for the flying vagina jumps, to my bro for helping me get from place to place, and the jumps/alcohol sharing, and MANY MANY more... I'll get a vid edited once I get home and put it up here for us to enjoy (and if you weren't there, envy). Oh yeah, and thanks to TK for putting up with our shennanigans. Muff #5048

Need help, having doubts.
millertime24 replied to guineapiggie101's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What DSE said. Ill also add that you are WAY over thinking this. Don't fall into the brain lock of trying to "fix" a problem in freefall that you cant seem to take care of. If you cant fix the problem you end the skydive (this is what I was taught). There is no excuse to not pulling if you're physically able. Secondly (and I hate to say it) RELAX! When you're not having fun anymore it's time to stop for the day. This has happened to me on jumps where over and over we try to get as many points as we can, and I get PISSED that we dont get them. When I find myself in this state I'm done for the day. Ill end with not "relax", but HAVE FUN! Pretty hard to not be relaxed when you're having a good time. My most memorable jump (jump13-14 IIRC) was a jump I did with my instructor. There was a thunderstorm on the other side of the mountains and I could see lightning hitting the other side of the mountain. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever witnessed AND IN FREEFALL. We got 8 points and I landed feeling almost euphoric. Thats the kind of feeling you should be getting on your jumps not "well I fucked up another one". These are my experiences and feelings. I hope you can reach something similar and get through your AFF. I'm sure you'll do it! Muff #5048 -
nope...it's just what I prefer @ the moment..I can get women, it's just not worth it to me..the last couple were unsolicited +1000 I fully agree with everything you've said and, in fact, live my life very much the same way. Seems without another person to worry about keeping happy I somehow have way more money. Muff #5048

So here's how it went. We drank enough alcohol to get us over the legal limit. The cop in charge then tested us to get a sort of baseline in order to determine how much it would take to get us a bit sloppy. I went into the test with a BAC of .141 and left the test 2 hours later with a BAC of .101. On my 165lb frame it took 12 drinks to get there (the high point), and I metabolize .02 per hour. My drink of the day was Makers Mark and Coke. The drinks were regulated in 2oz shots mixed with 10oz of Coke. So one cup of goodness basically was the equivalent of 2 drinks. On all tests I passed both the 9 step line test and the holding one foot off the ground and counting test. Where I failed was with both the eye bouncing test and the fact that I smelled strongly of liquor. All in all a good time, and yes we all got rides home from the cops. The thing I took away from the experience was DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!!! They WILL get you. You can be like me and pass all the motor skills tests, but your CNS wont let your eyes lie. If you're gonna get hammered, do it at home or have a DD.

Ill wager mine (at least for tomorrow) is better. I get to go to work, drink beer all day and help "train" new cops on how to test for sobriety. That is to say, I'm getting paid to go to work and get obliterated. If your job doesnt let you participate in these activities..... Then your job=fail. The only problem is that the 1st Sgt of the cop squadron (my former boss for x-ray) told them that the results would likely be skewed due to the amount of beer it is going to take for someone my weight to get to a point where I start failing these tests. I dont give a fuck if she was the damn secretary of defense. What's min is mine. If you're going to take it in my presence you're gonna have to use EXTREME force to do so, as that is what I would use to defend my property/life. Muff #5048

Did you ever think your main would be your reserve?
millertime24 replied to millertime24's topic in Safety and Training
This guy sure did. glad he's ok, but damn lets keep an eye on where our gear is and what it's being snagged by. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Bv_NqiT7pM&feature=player_embedded Muff #5048 -
Those will do nicely. Thank you very much! BTW, who do I give the credit to? My public speaking teacher likes us to cite any sources we use that we ourselves do not create. Muff #5048

I'm doing a speech tonight on the basics of how a main parachute is deployed. I'm also going to be going over EP's and reserve deployment. What I would like is to have a close-ish video of a main being deployed and also a video of a reserve being deployed. I dont really NEED this but it would be nice to have to show the class at the end of the speech. Also, I cant use links to youtube or vimeo. I need some kind of video format that I can burn to a disk and use on my laptop. Thanks for any help. Muff #5048

For some free food and training other folks? So this past week I've been helping my bosses sisters phlebotomy class with their needle sticks and blood draws. That is to say in the past 5 days Ive been stuck, and had blood drawn 14 times for no other reason than I have no fear of needles, and I LOVE free food. I'm happy I could help those students, and I love the free pizza etc... So What would YOU be willing to put up with for a free dinner and helping the "youngins" succeed? I will add the caveat, now I look like a heroin addict. Muff #5048
