    speeding ticket

I don't normally hire a lawyer for traffic violations, but NC is different. Traffic violations are handled in circuit court and not a lower court. I was told by the patrolman, "Do not go to court without a lawyer. The judge is a lawyer and you will not do well." I took his advice, right or wrong. I will likely be back in Raeford in the spring. Jumping at St George and Lake Wales right now. Ed

    speeding ticket

Leroy, Obviously, every state is different. I got a similar one in your state, NC, last year. You will get lots of lawyer solicitations in the mail, just wait. You will likely find one that can get the charge reduced to a non-moving violation for about $200 fee plus $25 ticket, plus $125 court costs. My total was $350. Yes, insurance costs are the problem and the reason for paying the lawyer. I didn't even have to show up, he handled everything, including payment to Hoke County. I thought I was gonna get off on that one. He was Paul Rafferty's brother in law and Paul was my DZ park neighbor at the time. He just kept writing the ticket. Want info on tickets in Florida, South Carolina, Nevada and more, I am your man. Ed
  3. Arvel, Phreezone put some pictures of a helmet cutaway on DZ.com, somewhere. I installed it on my FFX and it is great. I think it cost me about $1.50. Ed
  4. Yeah, guess I'm screwed next time. Ed
  5. Gary Peck and Carl, I can't spell his last name, long hair and been organizing since god was a boy. Ed
  6. During practice for the POPS Florida record attempt next month, we did a 39 way in the shape of a heart. It was a rush and the crowd cheered as we were landing. I don't remember ever hearing cheering for a skydive at a DZ. We did a couple of 2 point 20 ways before combining the groups. Gary and Carl are fantastic organizers!! Ed
  7. Customer satisfaction rating listed on "resellers" is 2.4 out of 10. Their lifetime rating is 1,8 out of 10. Be prepared to buy "extras" or expect to see it backordered. The wholesale cost on the 20D body is about $1200. Ed
  8. Here is another one. It's Jake, Da Gimp's old toy and my new one. Ed
  9. Cool it is!!! I have been amazed at the accuracy of this altimeter. I occasionally glance at it when low, just because it is so amazing. If it says 20 feet, it is!!! I have watched in amazement during climbout when another Neptune is in sight and the 100 foot increments click off on both at the exact same instant all the way to altitude. I have no idea how they can be that consistent!!!??? Ed
  10. I contacted Alti-2 about that same thing over a year ago. Essentially what has been said in this thread is correct. Although the label is MSL, that is not what it is, so trying to read it as "feet" will make no sense at all. I was told it was a pressure reading and they decided to make it available just in case anybody cares. In my opinion, it has mostly caused confusion. I quit looking at it. LOVE MY NEPTUNE Ed
  11. I use color markers to mark my lines at the canopy. It helps identify the "A" lines, etc. At the same time, I put a double mark on each center line so that I know exactly where my split should be. I am careful what type of marker I use because I am aware that the wrong type could degrade the line. I don't use a special brand name, but the ink is washable. Ed
  12. Start with the link below. To summarize what I can recall from many threads. The PC 109 is a pretty good skydiving video camera, one of the smallest and lightest, but not as good a picture as those with larger chips. Some complain about the docking station that is required to do a firewire, but several posts about the docking station having to be hooked to power to do a firewire are erroneous. The camera has a lanc port for the cam-eye. It is on the right side and has created a problem for some, but it can be dealt with. The 2 K Composites helmet can be ordered to fit the PC 109 or a used helmet can be modified if it does not fit immediately. 13. I just located a source for rubber spacer material for helmets and cameras. I purchased a rubber fender cover like those used by mechanics, from Harbor Freight. I think I paid about $6 or $8 for it and for my needs, it is huge. It is slightly sticky to prevent slipping, but does not leave a residue. It conforms to a rounded shape (like a fender) and is sufficiently firm to prevent movement. I used mouse pad rubber for a while, but it was too expensive and did not conform to shape. Ed
  14. Just got approved for Social Security. That means...more jumps. WhooHoo. Made it for the first 40 years, maybe I can do it again. Ed
  15. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1302859;search_string=adidt;#1302859 BioJumper gave some good info here on a cheap plug.
  16. The Velocity helmet comes without a chin cup, so you can just go back to the neck strap configuration if you find that more comfortable. I can confirm that the helmet will move in freefall, but the amount of movement is consistent and your sight can be adjusted accordingly. Mine (with the neck strap) is quite comfortable, bit I axed it in favor of a my new (old model) FFX which is more snag resistant. Ed
  17. Noah, I will be at Blue Sky on Saturday. If you are there, I will show you my modified switch. Ed
  18. It was 40 degrees on the ground in NC on Sunday. I had a very slight amount of moisture on my faceshield on jump run. IMMEDIATELY, on exit it turned to a solid "white out" of frost. I could not believe how instantaneous it was and it stayed that way for about 12 seconds. I'm heading south. Ed
  19. OK, I have been waiting for someone to address this and I don't think anyone has. It appears that the OFF/ON switch for the 10 and 20 cameras is on the back. So, how do you get to the switch if the camera is mounted on the front of the helmet? Ed
  20. Anyone know where accident insurance can be bought that does not exclude skydiving injuries? A year of health insurance is now $10,000 with $5,000 deductible, for me and I have not used it over many years. Sure would like to dump that if I had accident coverage. I'll be on medicare in a couple of years. Think of how many jumps I could make with the extra bucks. Ed
  21. This is an email address I picked up that is a connection to the Chinese version of the Canon remote switch for the 10d and 20d. The Chinese version delivered is about $24. If you have a problem with the email address, just go to ebay and search on Canon 20d and you will find the switches. After you pay the $24 or so, the only thing useful is the N3 plug. As expensive as it is, it, along with a bite switch may be the best solution at present. I haven't used the address and I have not seen the switch to address quality or compatibility. Ed Edited to delete the email address, it is not valid. Ed
  22. It depends on the helmet AND the glasses. I have a small pair of glasses and they will not fit into my Bonehead Havok. That's why I bought the Havok. I was just sure these little glasses would fit. I have a larger pair that will fit. It depends on their SHAPE. Try your glasses with the helmet you intend to buy, first. Then there is the fogging issue. There is now twice the chance of fogging. I mostly wear contacts with my Havok and the problem is solved (until I change to my camera helmet ) Ed
  23. Do a search for "neptune information" in this forum. You might be lucky. Ed
  24. Whether it is worth the difference or not, depends on what you want. If you want more shots per jump to choose from therefore better results, get the 20d. If you are doing it for income, I expect the Rebel is more practical and will pay off sooner. The info in the above post is somewhat incorrect and you have to watch for that. The 20d is slightly smaller and lighter than the 10d in addition to being faster and having higher resolution. That is no small item in skydiving photography. One downside with the 10d and 20d is that the remote port is not compatible with the standard bite switch. You might have to buy and modify the plug. Perhaps someone else has newer info on this. Ed
  25. What is the latest info on the Canon N3 remote connector problem? I was searching Ebay and someone filed negative feedback (December 5) that the Adidt M1 C3 adapter did not work with the Canon 20d. Is the RA N3 the best solution? Ed
