Looks like my FFX. I bought it used about a year ago. They had quit making them. Glad to see they have something similar again. I've heard some "badmouthing" of the helmet, but these people had never jumped one. I think they are great. Ed

I used this exact setup and mine cracked at about 225 jumps. Alti blamed it on the metal backplate and replaced the Neptune. They gave me a fabric backing and told me to use it instead. That was about 150 jumps ago and so far, so good. Ed

Glad you are doing that. The way she was treated here just rubbed me the wrong way. Ed

Chuck, Missed you at the POPS Nationals. You could have taken home some hardware and jumped with the group on my # 1000. Ed

I saw this one near an interstate in Texas. Bates Motel Knives Sharpened Each room with a shower. Ed

I used to jump one and went over to a PC-109 because of the computer editing problems. I know this camera has been "badmouthed" a lot, but the video through Movieshaker was better than anything I have ever seen from my 109. It was exceptional video and each frame grab from Movieshaker was suitable for printing a small photo. Most of my 109 video is unsuitable for frame grabs. Yes, I have seen the compression numbers, I just look at the video and there is no question about the quality when compared. I wish they had been able to fix the computer edit problem, I much prefer the IP-5. Ed

Today I was invited to make a fourth on a Skydive at Raeford. One of the guys was a Golden Knight, but that isn't unusual at Raeford. When we had 8 or so points by 9000 feet, I knew something was different. We turned 16 points total !! It turns out that I had been invited on a skydive that many of you dream about. It was BK of the Knights 4 way team and his non-Knight buddies. This was a terriffic learning experience. We made 3 jumps total together. I'm still pumped!!!

My Neptune is mounted to the back of my left glove. No straps and it works for me. Ed

Jump numbers in and of themselves mean almost nothing. If we are using one thousand jumps as a benchmark, then do we have a variety of learning experiences, or is it practically the same, "ONE jump" repeated 1000 times? Ed

What to do when your photos are used w/o permission
EDYDO replied to CameraGeek's topic in Photography and Video
Whether or not your copyright is still valid depends on how you have protected your images. There are some things you can do to put your work into the "Public Domain." There is more in Federal Supplement 46, page 471. I do not have access to a copy, nor do I know if it is relevant. It is possible that putting your work on the internet in high resolution form could give anyone "public domain" permission. You need to pay a copyright lawyer for a one time consultation, then you can tell the rest of us what he said. Ed -
That is a great shot, but I'll bet 25 cents that they had to turn that line loose. Ed

How often statistically does the parachute not open?
EDYDO replied to Addicks's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thank your lucky stars for todays modern equipment. When I started on 28 foot rounds, I expected and had, one mal per 100 jumps. With the Para Commander it was more like one in 300 jumps, but I never had one. Fast forward to present day equipment and it is zero for 550 jumps. If I have one on the next jump, that will still be a great record. Ed -
A tandem passenger has no parachute or skill and is at the mercy of the tandem instructor until he/she touches down. I have often wondered about the legal liability of drop zones that require automatic openers and then someone is injured in a two out situation, because it is not a BSR, just their rule. Ed

I sent one to Sunpath and one to North American. It costs a lot less to go down in size than to go up, but if your leg straps have a couple of extra inches, you could have it made. The only changes necessary in both cases was to change out the leg comfort pads. I paid about $150 for each rig including shipping and it was worth every penny!!! They put a BOC pouch on the one at North American for an additional $50. Ed Edited for spelling....again!!!

My mom started supporting my jumping after 35 years. I don't expect her to go as far as to actually make a jump, but I am forwarding the pix to her. Between you and Arvel, she was in the best of hands. Congratulations to all of you!!! Ed

If you use a portable GPS for jump runs, what kind is it, do you like it and why? Thanks. Ed

Take a good look at how elaborate the buildings and interior look. They didn't get all of that by losing!!! Ed
-
Never said anything, but always worried that it was going to catch on something. Man would that hurt!!!! Ed

OK, thanks. That's what I did to originally set it up. I sure wouldn't want to lose my log entries. I suppose it just shows a blank under the jump data for that particular jump and keeps everything else in proper order. With your advice, I think I have the courage to try it next time. Thanks. Ed

I just love to see healthy children. Ed

I have asked around, I guess I asked the wrong people. I don't see it in my manual. Can you tell us here? Others will want to know, I am sure. Ed

I didn't understand the first question. As for the second, yes I have had a problem with the pro track not recording 4 second freefalls. There is a fix for that but you have to reprogram before and after the jump, I believe. That's too much trouble for me. I try to go six seconds at least. If I can't, I just have someone put it in his pocket for a jump to make the jump numbers correct. As for changing the altitude alarms to prevent the sounding on the step. Well, it doesn't cause a problem, so I don't fix it. I have just been curious. Ed

Now that I think of it, I am always wearing my FFX camera helmet, with it mounted inside, when this happens. I have never had it happen with my (3) other helmets. (bonehead, frap hat, Velocity)
