Hi squeak Did you know Ruckett before he relocated down under.? Has he slowed down a little after he moved to aussie land? Dave's a all around outstanding dude: jumper, organizer , party animal, funny guy etc. Just not the person I would choose to be a mentor. Dave might have started off with nine lives but he's used up a couple that I know of. Due to a couple of mid airs he expeienced due to off heading openings. If dave's sucking it down it might be to get some clear air for opening. I know thats whats tracking for, but that's just dave. Getting out last after a big way is a sucker bet. Pull high or walk forever. At a lot of DZ's, and boogies a go around is a urban legend for a long spot. It's not "efficent". R

Deploying into your final is one way to get your S&TA's attention. "Almost bact in the day" I guess the S&TA was called the "CSO: He autographed my log book with the following statement after i just made the remark (LOW OPENING) in my log book for the jump. "Verified CSO 1969 Lets see you beat this 150 ft" Someone changed the delay sec from 30 sec to 44 sec exit altitude 7200' My friend signed it off as "R H Low pull Massey LP-2". Jump # 159 on 30 Jan 71 in KS, first jump of the day. Had to repack outside in the sun for the next jump.

Hi SS The female mcnasty is is persistent and is looking at all the angles. To the extreme of suggesting her group boycott businesses in town that are listed as friends of the DZ, Sounds like its time to remind Longmont how much money the jumpers from mile hi are spending in their town. We used to have a ink twin otter stamp, and a skydiver stamp. Before we went on a jumping holiday we used to stamp our money so the locals would know how much business the DZ is bringing into town. Skyding Dollars Eventually some of the locals in longmont could end up with some "skydiving dollars" when they get change from the local business's . Maybe even Mcnasty. The DZ is bringing in a lot more money to Longmont than the rental fee on the hangers and the cost of fuel. I suggest that you all take the high ground, act like mature adults and don't do anything stupid. If I do something stupid it's not I'm trying to be Nastey it's because I'm old. This poor misguided Mcnasty is expending a lot of time and effort picking a fight that she isn't going to win Thats stupid! R -

Hi SS We used to do the skydiving $$$ thing (stamping $2 bills with canopy or airplane) in lots of places to let them know where their getting some of their business from. To bad it not time yet to paper Lawrence with the stuff. FWIW while reading the letters at the end of one airport access the Main McNasty has made at least one quote from a incident report DZ.com. I bet McNasty wont be quoting the up thread comment about the additinal air traffic from Nascar and KU games. NOT!!! K-RIP -

The GPS-guided parachutes have worked so well that the Air Force plans to increase their use from 100 airdrops in the past year to 40 per month, he said. The “Joint Precision Air Drop System” enables a navigator, equipped with a laptop to enter data such as the coordinates of the drop zone, wind speed and direction. The system then tells the navigator where to release the load, Rooney said. The system’s motors control parachutes in the same way that skydivers pull cords to guide their canopies into the drop zone, he said. Engineers’ goal was to land satellite-guided parachutes inside a 150-meter diameter circle but the system works so well that 80 percent of loads drop in an 80-meter circle and 100 percent fall within a 100-meter circle, Rooney said. The satellite-guided system allows cargo aircraft to fly as high as 25,000 feet where wind would normally be a major factor. The altitude puts them beyond the range of Afghan insurgents who frequently take pot shots at low flying planes, he said. It also allows supplies to be “flown” to a drop zone from a release point up to 16 miles away, he said. “They can fly [the GPS-guided parachute] over a ridge line, down a valley and into a forward operating base,” he said. “They can do a single pass over a valley and resupply two bases.” The systems, which cost $20,000 each, carry up to 2,200 pounds of cargo. If troops are in a hurry they only need to unclip an 8-pound avionics unit to have recovered half the system’s value, Rooney said. “This is also a game changer for users (such as Special Operations personnel) who jump in with their supplies,” he said. “They can now be confident that their supplies we will be at the intended point on the ground when they land rather than having to hunt them down.” Capt. Jeremy Hague, 28, of Pittsburgh, a navigator with the 36th Airlift Squadron out of Yokota Air Base, Japan, said a big advantage of the GPS-guided parachute is its ability to hit a target in poor visibility. “We can drop it above the clouds and it will steer itself to the impact point,” he said." I assume the 400 and maybe the 325 were tandem rigs and maybe the 220+ is your demo rig You stopped jumping the 150 when the wingloading started to increase due to your added age and lbs. I wanteed to downsize for the smaller pack volume but I just couldn't lose the pounds to keep the WL in my safety zone. I never owned one but I did make ONE jump on "The Nova". Don't remember the size but it was "the Nova" as soon as I poped the breaks I knew I was behind the curve OMFG I just made one slight turn to get it headed to the wide open spaces and couldn't wait to get my body on the ground in one piece. The damn canopy was flying faster than my brain. -

Not necessarily. It sounds more like the consultants don’t really know what they are talking about. Once the FAA steps in I think there should be a good chance of the City and Airport Board changing their tune once they realize the obligations they have after accepting federal money. Quote Hi Jack IMO the "consultants know exactly what their doing. Their coming up with the answer that the city wants, to justify not letting a DZ operate at the airport. Just like a expert witness in court. Two different experts come up with opposite conclusions. The same consultant will get to design and inspect all future airport expansions and improvements as long as they are willing to come up with the opinion that the city wants regarding a DZ. The FAA has seen this song and dance from "consultants" and when the feds get around to making a decision I think it's going to be a no brainer in favor of the DZO. Lawrence is a college town and would make a great location for a DZ operation. I don't think there's going to be very much schedualed commercial traffic when their located so close to KCI. A shuttle bus from KCI would be more affordable for the students. Reading the comments at the end of the article it looks like there's one GA bully doing all the bitching. To bad he didn't use his own money to build the airport. K-RIP -

When Mr. Scott says they 'make such investments all the time', it makes ya wonder to who, what for and was it ever repaid? I sure hope they look into 'other' investments better than THIS one! Hi Ladies and Gentlemen Almost back in the day when the sq's first came out it looked like the gear manufactures were using the fun jumpers as test jumpers. It seemed like some jumpers were a member of the new sq canopy a year/6 mo club trying to work out the bugs and find a kinder and gentler canopy. I stayed with what worked for me and my weight (135#), my belly wart and PC After college we moved around and tried to stay with the same gear until 1975. The folks at the DZ didn't like what they saw and I didn't like the new attitude at the DZ's. We quit for 10 years wanteed to get our knee's back in the breeze asked some old friends for advice and bought a crusie lite and swift reserve in a vector II for our first state of the art custom made rig. -
We had one of those rounds about 20 yr's ago our rigger tested it failed Rigger Sent it back to the factory who sent it back as is Passed. K-RIP

I can remember back in the day when the apt house converted the boiler from coal to Oil. No more banging on the pipes early in the morning to wake the super up to statrt sheveling coal in the furnace for hot water and heat. In college the real estate investor converted the coal room into a inexpensive one room flop for a poor college student. Lucky for me I could afford more than that. thanks to the G.I. Bill $175/month paid for eveerything tuition rm & board, books and jumping. Had a room on the second floor. Every place there was a door in the house was made into a single room. The basement had a kitchen that was never cleaned and was divided into flops with pallet wood. Life was good.

Going to the VA is a "experience" Went there with a boken leg in 1970. Had to reprt to the X ray every 2 work at 8 am before we could see the DR. The receptionist was locked in a cage and would take the medical files thru a slot until we got called in for the picture. Lots of grumbling in the waiting room. First time didn't get called in for the pic until 1-2 PM, got a free lunch ticket. Next time same story except took a pass on the free lunch but I did notice that the patients were being called in by body part (not arrival time) Next time showed up somewhere around 1pm (LEG TIME) miinimum wait tiem Almost started a riot in the waiting room The other body parts had been waiting since 8 AM but they weren't going to readjust the machine for those parts until later in the day. Back in the 70's you could tell the war groups by their age WWI, WW2, korea, nam. Went back about 5 yr's ago to register for AO (CYA)] no WW1 or WW2 guys and gals in the halls maybe a few from Korea and more from nam and saw to many very young kids from the sand pile with IED damage I'll never go back K-RIP

AFAIK France has specific rules for rounds. Not OK for "regular" sport jumping, but OK to jump in certain conditions/events/with a certain type of licence. Something like WAR -

Hi When serious corporate downsizeing started 3 yr's ago we knew a guy from the dog park that worked for HP. He was attending a meeting with a major client in the seattle metroplex. During the meeting he had to excuse himself to take a call from his employer. They fired the guy in the middle of a business meeting. The man was in his early 50's had worked for HP for 15 yr's. He was in unemployed for at least 2 yr's, after that I stopped asking HP made the decision that they were not reqired to pay their X employee's for their accrued vacation time. Business is Business. "We're a team, a family" until we don't need you Them Them F**** Them. Of course YMMV

Yeah I think I'll have a lot of yellow 550 around the house soon. Those Navy Conicals sure look built tough. Although not having continuous lines , in addition to the ULB & LLB, they have 6 circumferential bands (plus the bias construction tapes). Pull tests on this canopy went to about 37 lbs before the fabric started to creep and sound like it was about to let go. Not too bad for something from '57. Hi Chappie? What are the spec limit's for the pull test? How bad is 37#'s. or or etc. The double rocket I was jumping was dyed Blue but it wasn't a reserve either]
